    The new generation assimilates? Bullshit.

What about the muslim youth that were born, raised, and educated in Britain only to blow themselves up in the Underground? Was it because they couldn't find a job that they did that?

Or was it because they were raised in Islamic extremism, with no love or patriotism of Britain? They were Arabs first, not Britons.

You socialists can claim all you want that the Muslims are not assimilating because they're "just not very wealthy," but when your country goes back into the stoneages after a majority of Muslims impose Islamic law on you, I won't be surprised at all.

The real reason those Muslims can't assimilate is because their culture and traditions are COMPLETELY and DIAMETRICALLY opposed to European culture and traditions. It is borne out in the fact that Muslim youth in Britain, Holland, France, Germany, and a host of other European nations have completely failed to assimilate. The other poor people in those countries don't start riots or murder those who oppose them.

To Europeans I say, do not walk gently into that good night.

Do you not think it's possible to assimilate while still honoring your culture?

And once they move here their right are the same as mine so what's your point?

In Islam, morality is completely determined by what God says is right and wrong. If God says murder is wrong, murder is wrong. If God says murdering innocents is right, it is right. Their system of morality is based entirely on what Allah says is right and wrong in the Koran.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moral_objectivism#The_Divine_alone

Christianity bases morality on the Divine and Reason. God created rational beings who have a Natural Law that determines what is right and wrong. God tells us what is right and wrong in the Bible, though the Natural Law comes from the simple fact that he created us with a purpose. The Natural law extends beyond the Bible. For example, no government can take my freedom of speech because I was born with the right to free speech. I cannot willingly give away my right to free speech - it is inherent in being human. Things that come inherently to human beings, such as life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, are provided by the Natural Law.

God could never say that murdering an innocent person is right because that opposes the natural law, with which he created human beings for a purpose. This is the problem with Islamic law: Allah CAN say that murdering an innocent person is right because he is Allah. They have no understanding of natural law.

If God said that murdering an innocent person is right, then why would he have created human beings in the first place? It opposes reason; therefore, Islam's moral teachings are false.

I do not think it is appropriate for Muslims to come to Europe and to continue honoring the culture that they came from. They can have whatever religious views they want...of course, I'm not a European...thanks be to God.

Actually if we got rid of our immigrant population, we'd be on par with other countries.

All the more reason to stop immigration, eh?!

I'm not talking about honoring the 'extreme' in said culture. Here's what I'm talking about. I had a good friend in high school that was from India. He moved to Pelham, Alabama with his parents when he was 2 or 3. He is as much of a 'good ol' boy from the south' as the rest of his friends, yet he still honors and appreciates his roots. He knows his native language (his parents did not speak english very well), but he speaks it with a helluva southern accent.;)

Is anybody here really arguing that this video is representative of America? I don't think even on this board there is anyone with their head that far up their ass.

You need to drop the anger bit. I used to enjoy the levelheadness you brought to the board. I used to get angered by things I read here almost everyday but I try not to let it stress me out anymore and just take it with a grain of salt.

I don't think that people are saying these clips represent all of America but we definitely do have problems when it comes to how we weigh up against the rest of the world education-wise.

Maybe, but not everyone, of course. Common sense tells us that you could go to any country and find uninformed people to interview. I think what makes this piece so funny is the sterotypes people have of americans. Sterotyping is never a good thing, but I also believe one should be able to laugh at themselves. I'm all for comedy. I'm a huge Southpark fan. They are so politically incorrect and they insult equally, across the board. I'm a southerner and I'm the first to laugh at a 'redneck' joke.

This is true - you called it. I go through cycles on here. Lately I think I've been sucked in. Usually I post with a grin on my face, but haven't been doing that much lately. Thanks for the reminder!

And yet we lead the world's economy. We innovate and create at a faster pace than anywhere else. People from all over the world come here for post-secondary education. I guess we have such a large, diverse population base, that the really dumb in this country pull the average down. And the NEA and school boards tend to dumb the curriculum down to teach to the lowest common denominator.

I'd put our brightest up against any other country in the world.

I agree with everything you just said, and in fact also pointed out that Leno does the same thing all of the time. I do find it funny. Until I see ignorance displayed here with peope extrapolating what they're seeing in this video to the "average American".

Perhaps. It's too bad so so many here will never get the chance at going to one of our own fine universities.

I know you won't like my response, but I personally feel that the average american should be MORE informed. I think this was an exaggerated piece for comedic value, but the average american probably does not get as 'deep' as say, you or I. Not to say you or I are more intelligent, just that they are wrapped up in their own issues. Again, this case can be made for anyone in any country.

I made a completely factual statement.

Without our immigrant population, our test scores as a nation would be higher. The immigrants I speak of are mostly Latino. They bring down test scores massively.

Patriotism does not depend on how many facts you know about your country.

Patriotism depends on one's love of country. It connotes the deep-seated attachment one has to the traditions, culture, and people of their nation. In a phrase: "blood and soil."

Plenty of patriotic Americans went off to World War II and died without ever knowing who wrote the Declaration of Independence. Some didn't even know how to read. Were they less patriotic because of it?

A stupid American is not an unpatriotic American - it's just an uninformed citizen. The thing is: these people probably do not vote. Voting is a civic duty and a patriotic thing to do. I agree that those people are ignorant and should be more informed.

Following your simple logic: Any monkey that just happens to have been born within the geographic area designated as 'America' is, by that mere fact alone, a patriot.
I.e, the word 'patriot' is completely meaningless.

They blew themselves up because they felt angry and disgusted at the Iraq war. It's an easy and lazy answer to simply say that they blew themselves up 'because they were raised in Islamic extremism'. There are plenty more people in this country who are disgusted at Blairs obedience to Bush et al. The I.R.A used to also bomb England because they were angry and disgusted at the English occupation.
    Every action produces a reaction.

    Actually I found it:

    http://www.vdare.com/rubenstein/050524_nd.htm

He outlines that Mexicans who come to our country are far less educated than the immigrants that come to other countries, which are compared with us in test scoring. Therefore, our test scores do not completely reflect the "American" component, seeing as how we have so many idiot immigrants coming in with hardly any education.

It's our fault for letting them enter in the first place.
