I'm not gonna spend my time with apathetic politics anymore. I'm going to vote for who I believe in, whose stances match my own thoughts...not who I think stands the best chance of winning. This kind of fear and second guessing has plagued the Democrats year after year. No one stands a chance if people don't put themselves out there and try to go against the odds for once. We'll just keep getting the same old crap we've been complaining about.

I agree with you on the standing up for your beliefs thing...as you painfully know ...
A question I have for liberals though...i'd really like to start a thread about this, but I'm guessing it'd morph into a sawyerism paradise anyways, my point is, regardless of what you think of W, objectively look at Iraq. Would more innocent lives be lost if were were to leave, as opposed to stay? I think this is a serious question...and probably an irrelvant one since no-one in government has even asked it. That aside, if you care about human lives, just "coming home" is about the worst thing you can do for humanity.
And you ask me what I want this year
And I try to make this kind and clear
Just a chance that maybe we'll find better days
Cuz I don't need boxes wrapped in strings
And desire and love and empty things
Just a chance that maybe we'll find better days
That aside, if you care about human lives, just "coming home" is about the worst thing you can do for humanity.
I strongly disagree with that sentiment. But I can definitely foresee this line of thinking being used a campaign talking point over and over again.
You don't know for sure you're right and neither do I. But we've been doing it your way for 4 years now and waaaaay too damn many have died for our mistake. Lifes shattered and gone. It's time to pack up and bring them home.

We are dealing with the here and now. You need to think about how many human lives will be lost if we leave now. Do you realize the hundreds of thousands of lives that will be lost if we just pack up and leave? Does your hatred of W trump the literally thousands of hundreds of lives lost? This is my question to all people on the left....we have so many disagreements...but do you honestly understand the disasters that would occur if we leave?

I don't believe it would be any more disastrous than it currently is...especially if the troops are replaced with international peacekeepers ,as Kucinich alluded to. I strongly believe in his plan. I'm against the war and I'm not supporting any candidate who wants to fund it any further only to continue to prolong our occupation there. It is already a hellhole there. No one seemed worried about how disastrous it would be when we invaded bombing the shit out of a nation that had done nothing to us. What did everyone think we were dropping bombs filled with sugar smacks and sweet tarts??? Come on! The war cry was turn the place into a parking lot!! Funding more war equals more violence equals more disaster. Stop funding death and start using a better means of solving Iraq's problems....diplomacy, humanitarian aid and peace keeping.......that's what we should spend our money on!!!!

Again...I'm only focused on the preseant.....you can take your frustrations of the past, but if you honestly care about humanity, and life and death issues, pulling out now is not what you want to do. if we were to pull out, a full scall civil war would erupt....the death would be imaginable...that's the thing that's frustrating from my point of view. We all agree W is a dip shit...but this is bigger than him...people that would otherwise be alive are going to die if we just pack up and leave. are you on the left prepared to have that blood on your hands?

I'm happy to see that Kucinich is running again. I found out about him late in the game last time. This is why becoming informed before the primaries is so important, huh?
I would feel good about voting for Kucinich. Couldn't say the same about Kerry, so I stuck with Nader in the last election.
Walking can be a real trip

You're not listening to anything I'm typing. I disagree with your assessment that funding more war will equal less war somehow for the Iraqi people. I offered a solution to you which i think will be much better and you haven't addressed it. You don't have to agree with a peacekeeping solution but quit acting as if I'm saying let's simply get out and say 'screw the Iraqis' because thats the opposite from what I've said. It clear your talking point is going to be 'Anti war and no more funding for war equals doom to the Iraqis.' But that's not it at all....that's just how people like Kucinich will be smeared by war supporters. I've said nothing about hating W so leave that shit outta this. And for the last time I don't believe the pull out solution will cause us to have blood on our hands....I believe the EXACT opposite.

If people are voting on height as an important issue then we really do have a intellect problem in this country.
Unfortunately that is a factor. Height is symbolic for power and authority. With the exception of Bush (who cheated anyways), the taller candidate has always won. I'm not saying its right. I'm just telling you how it is unfortunately.

Well it's not how it has to be nor is it set in stone. I'm not voting based on height and I wouldn't recommend it either. I'll go for what's right not what's popular or usual.

What has he said or done that is so weird? If by weird you mean, be a Dem who actually puts himself on the line and votes against spending for the war then yeah, I see what you mean. I think he is strong candidate and is nothing but consistant on his stances. He's nothing like the likes of Kerry who was too afraid to actually stand up for anything and only worried about appeasing swing voters. He doesn't do the usual Dem double speak where they say one thing and do the exact opposite. It's quite refreshing and hopeful, IMO.
Kucinich can act that way because he knows he can't win. It is a different story when you are actually a serious candidate.
Edit: Kucinich could declare that he is bigger than Jesus and it won't affect his vote totals.

No, it doesn't have to be that way. I have respect for your decision. Most americans don't do their research nor care much. When it comes down to the end, the taller more likeable guy usually wins. Again, not right, but how it is. If everyone who voted took an afternoon to really research what they are doing it wouldn't be a factor.

I'm not saying it's your position that we should just leave, and screw the Iraqs, but that is the impression i'm getting from grandman Pelosi...I think we can all agree that W is a dipshit...but it's sad to see political opposition potentially lead to hundreds of thousands of deaths. that is reality. if we leave Iraq, there will be a bloodbath.
Anyone who actually cares about human suffering, realizes that. Seriously, what happens if we leave vs. if we stay? what is the death toll? these are serious questions.

I think we should just leave.. and the government to stop spending my tax money on the war and give it back to me, or maybe spend it on a beneficial cause.

Privatization of the oil is what the fighting is about. And even if all the American troops leave, there's some oily little American businessmen with their fingers in the well. What might best serve Iraq is what Chavez did in Venezuela with their oil, and a few little greedy pricks are scared to death that that's what's going to happen. Iraqi's included.

You don't have the market cornered on humanitarianism with your opinions, Purple Hawk. And just because you say that its reality doesn't make it so. I disagree and I don't care how many times you reply to me telling your way is the only truely caring way.....I DON'T BELIEVE THAT TO BE THE CASE. That's my reality. The best move to peace in Iraq would be for America to support the Nationalization of Iraq's oil. It could even be short-term, like 10-20 years, just enough time for these folks get their shit together.
Of course, that aint going to happen with America in there, so here we taxpayers are throwing our money away for the benefit of a few dipshits. We're being robbed. The Iraqi people are being robbed.
So, to me, it's one or the other, nationlize the oil, or get the fuck out and let the Iraqis figure it out for themselves.
