I'll be glad when this goes away. Mike Vick is another example of a minority athlete that is dumb as a fucking box of rocks that was given priviledges above others based solely on his ability to play football. How did this dumb ass graduate from any school?
I hope he rots in jail.
Dude..race has nothing to do with this...look at all the white hollywood star and starlettes....and also white athletes...not a color thing..hell look at our white administration if you want proof of idiots causing unnecessary killing and maiming...but that's another topic....
.....course I'd like to see him buttered up, add little seasoning and thrown into a ring of hungry pits bulls..but hey.....can see it now...homer pit bull....hmmmmmm tastes like chicken...hmmmmmmm.... (-:
I dont think him being a minority has anything to do with him being dumb.
He's an idiot. But those who think people are dumb becasue they are minorities are idiots themselves.
Assholes come in every color, and there are PLENTY of white people involved in dogfighting.
Sorry, I wasn't connotating racism with my comment. I guess that you could have some non-minority superstar athletes allowed to pass classes in college based on their ability to play sports. But I will say it's primarily white people that allow this to occur. We have to give the black people a dream and role model no matter how stupid they are.
But I guess you wouldn't understand because you are probably to busy trying to deny it's trulty a racial issue because it's terrible to be labeled a "racist" especially if you are white.

I am confused by your answer.
were you connotating racism? Yes. You implicated "another minority athlete". If you just thought he was dumb, you would simply say, "he is dumb." Not another minority athlete. the way you put it does have some prejudiced connotations. Perhaps you did not mean it that way, but thats what it implied.
My roomate in college was on the football team. he was a backup lineman, a few starts here and there. He was allowed to take his tests at different times than the rest of the class, and he was given tutors who wrote most of his papers, unless he was really interested in the class. Was he given special attention, sure. Oh, and he's white.
I really dont understand your last comment. Am I denying this is a race thing? Is that what you are asking?
I dont think race has anything to do with people being stupid, making stupid decisions, or doing criminal activity. I think its more socio-economic. And lack of guidance.
But I hope he gets the maximum sentence, because he comitted several felonies over the period of 6-8 years, and as a result, many dogs were killed, not just the ones he killed for inability to fight.
And raising those dogs to be killers is also unsafe for the community. Imagine if one of those dogs got loos and went after some little kid.
...and there are PLENTY of white people involved in dogfighting.
There are also plenty of white meathead football players attending school at colleges they wouldn't be admitted into even if they took the SAT's three times and were allowed to combine the scores.
"The leads are weak!"

As I remember it we have a President, "The Decider", "The War President", who in his past found Jesus....??? If he can be given a second chance for his past addictions, drunk driving and other illicit acts. Well MV should be given that same second chance.
I believe he should be given a lifetime ban from the NFL and it will be given. However, the NFL's Labor Union will appeal and he'll be given a reinstatment around the year 2010 or 2011. Will he ever play again who knows but IF he stays very clean, gives back to the state of Virginia and the country then and only then may this be possible.
So just like our Commander and Chief can claimed he's turning his life over to Jesus or born again then MV can also make this claim.
Funny how people who have committed criminal acts always tend to claim they've found Jesus.

We are more likely to give a dumb underpriviledged black kid that can play ball every chance as opposed to giving a bright underpriviledged black kid a scholarship. This is especially true in the south where the dog fighting is more prevalent. Sure there are exceptions and we all hate to "generalize" but when it comes to percentages of minorities in sports (it isn't actually a reflection of our society is it?). If you are grasping at straws trying to figure out the whole "racism" structure then ask yourself why it is more blacks are in sports?
Whenever someone tries to answer this question they end up getting the "Jimmy the Greek" treatment. How dare we sound so "racist" when it is so taboo. We should be more intelligent and educated than to stoop so low.
So basically my point would be, you can take Vick from the ghetto but you can't take the ghetto from Vick even after pouring hundreds of millions of $$$$ in his lap. Same can be said for numerous other athletes whose skin color really doesn't make a difference....right?

i can't believe i havn't posted in this thread yet.
He deserves jail time at least a year and a half. The man has proved to be a violent savage. what a fuckhole.
no sympathy.
He'll get 2 years at least with good behavior 14-18 months and rightfully so.
Question: I wonder if there would still be all this uproar if he had killed a human being instead. When Ray Carruth had his girlfriend killed, or Ray Lewis was accused of murder I didn't see or hear all this uproar in those incidents?

My point is, we throw a college scholarship at a lot of minorities not for the sake of education (we could care less if they are educated as long as they can play ball) we place them on a pedestal and are always "so shocked" when their "true colors" show. Like I said though there's always exceptions...you can list them...you did as a matter of fact. Some of those guys are pretty old though. I'm trying to walk a line against racism here but I'm not sure my point is understood. It's like saying..."white people like country music".... It's not an accurate statement entirely but as statements go it's a darker shade of gray than..."black people like country music"
It's just an observation like ...you know... that feeling you get when you walk into a club you've never been to before and you see alot more men there than women. Know what I mean? Test your own skills of prejudice.
Most people are all of a sudden "holier than thou" when ugly prejudice shows up. If you think Mike Vick is being persecuted, what about Don Imus? But if I could talk to anyone here for just 10 minutes I could find out just how much a hypocrite you are. That goes for anyone here...every one of you is prejudice one way or another.

Write this one down and remember it when I'm right....
After watching how the press has handled the Vick stuff these last few days ("a poor kid with a rough upbringing - it's not his fault!!!"), as well as the NFL's and Falcons' resistance to say he's gone from the NFL forever, I will say right now that Michael Vick will return to the NFL and it will be an absolute media & money avalanche.
It will be like Mike Tyson's return to the ring; it will be huge, and it will make TONS of money. The season will sell out, tv audiences will be huge, and corporations will be paying premium prices to get advertising on screen during the return of Vick.
There may be a backlash, but ultimately it will all come down to winning and money, and those things tend to make folks have short memories. Any boycotts will be insignificant and will eventually go away.

That's a bit of an overstatement. I can't speak for everyone, but when I hear some famous jerkoff goes off and kills his wife, family, brother, sister, whomever, I do feel bad for that person. Usually, those people had some indication that something was wrong and could have attempted to get away from said asshole. The Benoit story stayed in the headlines as long as Vick. That didn't involve dogs. I don't believe that dogs or any animals are superior to humans, however I will reserve a harsher criticism for anyone who kills or hurts a child or pet. Sorry.

Ray Carruth isn't playing football anymore is he... and Lewis was accused but found not guilty, so I don't see what barring that holds.
VIck on the other hand pleaded guilty to multiple charges - besides the obvious of animal cruelty (which people are in an uproar about), the charges that really hold weight in legal terms and ramifications for his fututre in the NFL is that of gambling and running a gambling ring. Obviously playing professional sports and running any type of gambling ring is gonna be a problem.

If Vick had taken a person and hooked them up to a battery and electorcuted them, or slammed them up against a wall until they were dead, or shot them execution style in the back of the head after forcing them to fight...........i am willing to bet people would be even more pissed off and disgusted.
