ESPN just posted this article and it pertains to many of the notions I previously mentioned. The Commish, Vick and his chance of playing in the future, but much is about the NFL as a whole compared to the players union.

Gotta love this... Somehow the NFL will be wrong for keeping Vick out? They're not stopping Vick from living, earning a wage or anything similar, they'll just be saying, " you broke rules, so you're out". How hard is that to comprehend?

Sadly, the R.L White of the NAACP decided to steal a page from Stephon Marbury's Book Of Stupidity and use the same mindless reasoning.......

Stephon Marbury: " ..... said, I think, you know, we don't say anything about people who shoot deer or shoot other animals. You know, from what I hear, dogfighting is a sport. It's just behind closed doors.''

R.L. White: " ......also said he didn't understand the uproar over dogfighting, when hunting deer and other animals is perfectly acceptable....

NAACP implies the playing of the race card. However the statements made by Mr. White do not directly discuss race. The word "persecuted" does not have to include racial overtones. He is being raked over the coals (rightly so, in mym opinion).

As far as innocent people cutting deals, I don't think that is what happened here, but I am sure it has happened in history.

As for as deer hunting...well that is just stupid. Any non-vegetarion cannot say shit about this. Hunting serves a purpose. Torturing animals is sick. It's not even close to the same thing.

As for race: Playing that card would be bad. It's not why he is in trouble and any reasonable human being should get that. And while the story does not really discuss race, the fact that the attorney is from the NAACP will send that message regardless. Bad PR move.

The NAACP doesn't care about that. They're already laying the ground work for playing the race card.

Although, they certainly were in favor of Imus getting fired, eh?

    See how that works?

Stupid white guy (shock jock) makes dumbass comments in satire. They pushed for him to be fired.

Stupid black guy tortures dogs, kills dogs and runs illegal dogfighting ring; he should be given a second chance.

    No double-standard at all:rolleyes:

    Correct.

If you take a good look at many of the people publically defending Vick, there most certainly has been a very subtle implication or should I say suggestion of the race card. They've been very subtle with it. But watch, they (the NAACP, Marbury and so forth) will begin to play the race card in a very obvious and loud manner; if the NFL starts leaning towards banning Vick from the NFL.

There's always the CFL, for Vick. If Canada will have him.

    I agree with that.
But should the legal penalty be harsher becuase he is in the spotlight?
No, and that is whats happening. Im not defending his actions by the way, it turns my stomach. But how many times have you seen someone walk away from much more serious offenses against people? How many NFL players?
If Ray Lewis can play than so should Vick. I dont care that lewis was acquitted. Its ok to play with guns and hang out with real gangsters, but hey dont touch our pets. Just hard to reconcile.

Its more of a celebrity card or a lassie card, but its getting played.

Imagine if this was one of those big ole southern redneck types, theyd be all over him too.

That's a valid statement. The NFL is definitely upside down, half-assed backwards with their policies.

But in my opinion, neither one should have been allowed back in.

Anyone who is involved in this dispicable behavior should be jumped on and receive severe punishment; regardless of race.

I watched a show on this dogfighting crap, just this past weekend. They had several redneck (white guys) who were involved, on there. I wanted to drag those fuckers through the TV and punch their lights out.

On HBO Sports? I saw that. It almost made me physically sick. Not because it was bloody (which it was) but because it upset me so much. Apparently, on occasion they steal people's pets from backyards and use them to "train" the dogs. :(

I've never defended him he deserves to go to jail and pay several million dollars. I've said he's going to jail serve whatever time is given to him and he'll be released. My point was a preacher's wife seved 6 months for killing her husband and is now seeking to get her dead husband's children back and she'll probably get them back.

    Which act was worse?

Jeez, then we should let Vick go. Maybe we should give him back the dogs as well.

Why is a human's death so much worse than these dogs? That is the question you should look for. How have you been so indoctrinated that a human life is worth so much more than an animal's life ? Should it be that way? No.

Wait a second, are you saying that killing an animal is the equivalent of taking a human life?

How so? I'm not pushing my views on anyone. I simply answered the guy's question -- a human being murdered is no worse than a dog being murdered to me. That may be too far for you but not for me. As for food, I am a vegan by choice and I push this choice on no one.

He's going to have to attempt to repair his image, and who knows, maybe after he's served the time, and perhaps donated millions to animal rights groups and made whatever restitution possible, the public will be forgiving and grant him a 2nd chance. Only time will tell.

A very rational post... Even if the league bans him, it will be one of those bans where he can apply to be re-instated. If he really turns his life around and becomes an advocate for animal rights or whatever, I'd be willing to give him a second chance, but I don't think that he should be welcomed back just because he serves his time.

All you really need to know about how phony college football is...

Michael Vick was actually allowed to enroll at Va Tech.

Stephon Marbury was actually allowed to enroll at Ga Tech.

wow, both of these schools should be publically embarrassed and put on probation for just those two.

Think they actually did any of the class work?
