why aren't Christians pacifists? Anyone remember the Sermon on the Mount?
both questions are pretty broad"Music, for me, was fucking heroin." eV (nothing Ed has said is more true for me personally than this quote)

Why should Atheists be pacifists? Atheists are people, and are subject to the same complexities of life as Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, Jews, Branch Davidians, Gnostics, those Hale-Bopp guys, Harry Potter fans, and Beatles haters.
But I'll tell you, there isn't a book that all atheists follow that extolls the virtues of pacifism, which is why your argument doesn't exactly hold water.

tis 'god and i'...no matter HOW you slice it......there is no 'more correct' in this instance. there is correct...or incorrect, that's it.
okey doke. seeing as i only entered this convo from your mail, i wasn't following along. the whole "why aren't atheist/christians/martians...anything"...just not my kinda debate really.who woulda thunk 'god and i' would be tho?
anyhooo.....have fun!
and i really should extricate myself from here too....but i'll get back to ya on all of it. i am a very inconsistent e-mailer, but i mean well. be happy!
Well, you're incorrect.

surferdude wrote:But you have admitted to believing in murder. I never judged you for that, only asked about the inconsistency of that belief and valuing life.
Yeah, I didn't say that I believed in murder. Nowhere in my post does it say I believed in murder -- so yes, yes you did judge me...
From my first post:
Being an athiest allows you to look at things a little more objectively. In my case, my mind is not "clouded" with religion when it comes to whether a person deserves the death penalty or not.
Yeah...that's last part is rather neutral...you jumped to a conclusion...
As far as I'm concerned your posts have quite the air of superiority or distain, which is a form of hatred...so my question is: Why do Christians hate athiests when they are REQUIRED by the teachings of christ to love everyone? Ohhh....that's right...the Bible is full of intolerence, hatred, judgment, etc....

Just went back through the thread from page 1 and I owe you an apology. For some reason I mxed up funkdog's posts ("murderers, low-life petty thugs, rapists, etc., they should be put to death now.") with yours. Sorry about that.“One good thing about music,

If you read all my posts on this matter, you would know that i came to the conclusion that the original sentence, either way, is not a good sentence.
so then i revised it to say,
"We are doing fine, God and me."
then you come back and say,
"you can think whatever you like gue....but according to proper grammar, you are incorrect."
and
"...it would STILL be....'god and i.' it is all related to subject/verb agreement, no matter how you toss the words around."
and
"tis 'god and i'...no matter HOW you slice it......there is no 'more correct' in this instance. there is correct...or incorrect, that's it."
And you're still wrong.

"I think he said, Blessed are the cheesemakers"
" Cheesemakers? What's so special about the bloody cheesemakers"
"Will you be quiet, I can't hear"
"OK, bignose"
"What did you call me"
"Bignose"
"Don't you call me bignose"
"Well you have got a big nose"
etc etc until Bignose takes a wild swing at teh cheeky littel bugger, who ducks, resulting in teh bird behind getting a flat nose, and a trip down teh Mount on her arse.Music is not a competetion.0 -

hmmmmm, well by golly guess i wasn't paying good enough attention. you are correct, sir. *applauds*
so we were both right, and both wrong. imagine that.
i was right and you were wrong for the first, original example:
God and I are just fine.
and you were right and i was wrong for your own example:
We're just fine, God and me.
...and, neither is 'more correct'....b/c that statement i stand by, it's either correct, or incorrect....so BOTH of those, correct...just a matter of personal preference. for me, the first sentence flows better...perhaps for you the second since you decided to change it.
i say...toe-may-toe......you say toe-mah-toe.
but thanks for revisiting all our dialogue....i feel special. i guess it was just really important to you to have me say i was wrong. although i don't think i ever read you admit to be 'wrong' for arguing about the first sentence's incorrectness...which, as we know...is wrong...because it's right. whew! hahaha. anyway, so, i was wrong. hope it was satisfying for ya.
now wasn't that fun?
and....returning to the original thread topic....i think it's utterly ridiculous to expect ANY one group to all behave in any one particular way, period. however, especially for a group that has no true defining dogma beyond a non-belief in a superior being. is that REALLY enough to unify ALL those people to behave in ONE particular way? i think not.Stay with me...

surferdude wrote:For a start how many people did the Russians kill in WWII?
Do you mean how many Russians were killed? I'm too lazy to look it up but in the neighborhood of 20 million. Mostly killed by "Christian" Germans.
I'm a Christian (with a very open mind) and I'm sorry to say how many were killed in the name of Christianity, let alone how many have been killed by Christians, which is not the same.0
