I will say I was surprised that I heard less political talk at the VFC shows than at regular PJ shows. It was refreshing.

The purpose of playing the states they did in 2004 was to hit the "swing states". California and "The South" definitely aren't considered "swing states".

"All concerts were held in swing states, to benefit MoveOn.org and to encourage people to vote against George W. Bush (and implicitly, and in some performances explicitly, for John Kerry) in the 2004 Presidential election campaign."

Yep, and if you made a donation to Move On in addition to face value of the tickets you got great seats. That's how I got 2nd row in Toledo and 4th in Reading.

  • Nader ran as a third-party candidate in the 2000 and 2004 presidential elections. He is still loathed by many Democrats who call him a spoiler and claim his candidacy in 2000 cost the party the election by siphoning votes away from Al Gore in a razor-thin contest in Florida. Nader vociferously disputes the spoiler claim, saying only Democrats are to blame for losing the race to George W. Bush.

Though he won 2.7 percent of the national vote as the Green Party candidate in 2000, his percentage dropped to just 0.3 percent as an independent in 2004, when he appeared on the ballot in only 34 states.
Everyone is born, but not everyone is born the same. Some will grow to be butchers, or bakers, or candlestick makers. Some will only be really good at making Jell-O salad. One way or another, though, every human being is unique, for better or for worse.

WTF are you talking about? Who is Bush bashing in this thread? If someone implies you are making things up do you just roll over and take it like a bitch? Guess so.

"The McBush slime machine," "McBush," "Another Bush in charge." We get it...the guy has a 30% approval rating. If 2004 proved anything, it's that "the other guy's an asshole" makes a candidate appear insecure and empty (see: Hillary stumping in Ohio).

I really respect Obama and just hope that his supporters can continue to trumpet his strengths rather than bludgeon people with reasons why Bush and/or McCain "suck."

  • Hmmmn..... Detroit keeps voting for Democrats. How's Detroit been doing? How about those Democratic leaders and union leaders? They've really turned Michigan into a thriving metropolis. I think 4 bedroom homes are selling for almost $50,000 now.

Agreed, Michigan has seen better days.....when the Democrats were running the country!

that was an excuse to sell tickets...

    not to sell change.

they gave up on the south instead trying to convert them.

I never implied that you were making anything up - quite the contrary, I went out of my way to be tactful and diplomatic and I got shit, as has everyone else that has responded to you.

Are they keeping the Vote for Change name and the association with MoveOn.org?

Same format as '04: one state, one night, many shows with same pairings of artists?

So... we should expect a show here in Denver (Red Rocks) to coincide with the Democratic Convention???? Sounds logical to me. :)
... are we going to the same place?

I do believe you I don't know why....but like someone else said are we talking about Neil/PJ/Dead touring as one unit or something similar to the 2004 VFC Tour.....and are there any areas of the US that aren't going to see PJ in this slew of shows?
