You guys are nuts if you think the VFC tour had any effect on the outcome of the '04 election.

    Yep.

maybe he doesn't know anymore than what he is telling us? Who knows. This thread gives me a little warning to save up enough money so I can attend when it happens

I think Ed's going to be a little to pre-occupied with family matters in time to prep for/pull off an October tour. Just my thoughts....

My sig other would probably can my ass for doing something like that just a few months into the little one's life....and for good reason.

Sorry...thats precisely when Ed becomes a father of #2...no tour. If there is, Jill should can his ass.... :)

I don't think the band or Ed is that loaded for Obama anyway. They may nake some appearances, but hey family should take priority.

    good point
  • During the tour I loved screaming (not that he heard me) back to Ed whenever he would rant about politics or social issues "just vote for change Ed... vote for change!". It was especially nice to see all the looks and stares I would get from everyone around me.

I'm not too worried about it not happening. I just really really want the show at the Spectrum, and not anywhere else!

Bottom line is that he lost all the states that VFC focused on. VFC needs to find someone like Toby Keith if they want to make a real difference in the South. VFC simply preached to the choir over and over. The people at those shows in 04 were proabably 99% percent anti Bush before the tour was even thought of. Obama will dominate the Northeast and most of the West. But without Ohio or Florida he'll have the same fate that Kerry did. I say leave Obama alone and good things will happen. This guy is dynamic in a way the Kerry could only dream of.

Kerry won Pennsylvania, which VFC focused on.

True enough. I just find it odd that my2hands could have inside information months ago and not a single other person on the board (many of whom have good sources) have heard a thing in that time frame.

It is still possible. I am just saying that I don't think it is a done deal at this point.

    i heard its a 2 week tour...

5 shows in Boston, and then 5 in NY.

the band feels these cities have been neglected.

I think it did get more people educated and got a ton of people registered, so it might not have gotten rid of Bush, but it did still serve a great purpose

eh, I dunno. the goal was to get rid of Bush and that didn't happen. It reminds me of when Michael Jordan failed to get the Wizards into the playoffs but said afterwards that it wasn't a complete failure because he was able to get a better understanding of what type of players he had on the team. No MJ, you failed.

oh I agree, it didn't get Bush out, but it did serve some of a purpose- either way, I'd love to get another chance to see PJ again this tour
