I'll stand with you on this one. Sure, it's sugary sweet pop music, but she's got some pipes.
She has really evolved from her Genie in a Bottle days.

....and she's damn easy on the eyes.
All the world will be your enemy, Prince with a thousand enemies, and whenever they catch you, they will kill you. But first they must catch you, digger, listener, runner, prince with the swift warning. Be cunning and full of tricks and your people shall never be destroyed.
Christina is better looking and has a better voice, yet Britney gets all the media attentions for her lack of hair and parenting skills.

A freight train roars down the tracks and safely reaches its destination without incident. A freight train roars down the tracks hitting a school bus, two mini-vans and a tanker truck full of gasoline. It, of course, does not reach its destination. Which one gets the news truck????

Since there were some comments recently slamming female singers, I thought I might stand up for teh sisters.
Heather Nova, heartmelting
Alison Krause, look in the dictionary under elegant and entrancing
Ellen Foley, caused a lot of adolescent jeans to catch fire in teh day
Amy Lee, love her or hate hger, she can sing
JAnis Joplin, whiskey, cigarettes and howling good fun
who wants to name some more ???
I really hate most female singers (sorry girls)...especially those IDOL-singers...bwehh!
Although I really like Janis Joplin and maybe a 'few' others...

Thanks for saving me a few minutes of typing because they were going right on the list.
Aretha Franklin!! I love that voice!
Patti Griffin, too. Not so much a trained voice, but a very passionate and expressive voice and a great songwriter.

Good call on Aretha. I can't believe I forgot about her. Add Martha Reeves of Martha and the Vandellas, too. Joan Osbourne (not sure about the spelling) is great, too. I'm not a huge fan of that what if God was one of us song, but I've loved other stuff I've heard by her. If you've ever seen the documentary Standing In the Shadows of Motown, she sings the hell out of What Becomes of the Broken Hearted in it.

I may get slammed for this, but Christina Aguilera has an amazing voice. I never thought I would like a 'pop' singer such as her, but her newest CD is really good.
".
No slamming, there is no Denying that Xtina has one of the greatest voices i have ever heard, do i enjoy her brand of music- No

Amazing lists guys, I think I'm gonna have to check out Neko Case and Sarah Harmer, they just keep coming up.
I forgot Bonnie Raitt as well, girl can play too.
Neko Case Writes beutifiul songs and has a wonderful voice i think.
My favourite female vocalists by a landslide.. in terms of newer current performing singers. She's in the same league as Stevie Nicks (my favourite female singer EVER).. and even does a fantastic cover of "Dreams".
I seen her set at sasquatch festival last year.. and she braved the insane weather that happened 3 songs into her set (HUGE hailstorm.. at the gorge?!).. haha the songs she did play though sent tingles up and down my spine.
"Stunned by my own reflection, It's looking back, sees me too clearly and I swore I'd never go there again, Not unlike a friend that politely drags you down, down, down"
When you see me on the street, yell out "FAVO!!!"
I've been to alot of Pearl Jam shows; So fucking what.
