Is the next sale really Tuesday, or is that another "conspiracy" :)

  • Yeah, Ha ha. Just make sure you have homeowners insurance and pictures of the posters somewhere other than your house. The bummer for me would be that each poster has a story. The drive to the show, people I met blah blah blah. Time to invest in a big flat safe!!

I think it's awesome that we even have a shot at getting a very cool piece of artwork like these posters after a show is over and done with!

Not everyone had the same chance this time. What ever the glitch was, some of us didn't have the link available to try and purchase. I'm ok with getting shut out because I'm not quick enough, the technical crap is what is frustrating and for those of you who did succeed last night, you need to see where we are coming from.

As for all the other stuff, no consipiracy, nothing against the 10C, or anything else. It was an issue that I hope the 10C looks into for future sales online.

Great post. Maybe someone could make a copy of their poster and put it on a tshirt for others to see.

While it might be ideal for the 10C to offer everyone who gets tickets to a particular show the corresponding poster when the tickets are sold, I think the current system is pretty fair.

First come first served. I remember showing up to Tower at 8:58 and getting in the back of a LONG line. The ticketmaster guy cut the line right behind me and then handed out numbers to everyone. The girl I was with ended up getting #2 everyone was SUPER PISSED when we walked to the front of the line. I felt shitty but I didn't make the rules. I drove by and hour later and there were still people in line.

    OK

lets say there were 1000 posters.

Then lets assume there were 5000 of us trying to get a poster.

Doesnt anyone think that after the entire stock went onsale and subsequently sold out ( * extremely quickly ) that the link / image was then removed- and there was ( as there is now & always ) nothing above the date / place book ?

this is a distinct possibility- that there was in fact no " glitch " and that the demand just heavily outnumbered the supply and that Luck was the thing that dictated if you got a poster or not .

Ok, Ive got the point on the technical side. Does the 10c set up a server that handles 500, 1000, 5,000, 10,000 orders at a time? At what cost? Do you want every person on the planet to have a shot at the posters?
They could probably set it up so that 100,000 orders could be processed at one time but you would pay 80 bucks for the poster to cover admin costs. Its pretty obvious that the band and 10c care about the fans or else thay would never have gone to the trouble of setting all of this up. I'm sure some one in the 10c office would be happy to take the left over posters and flip-em on eBay? Probably be a lot easier and rake in ten times the cash. I'm sure some of the "conspiracy theorists" on here are sitting back going, "Well, easy for you to say, you got your 2 posters, I got none" I'm terribly sorry, but you folks that didnt get one, shouldnt be making the rest of us feel gulity for getting through the system. It was all pure luck I'm sure. EVERYONE JUST TAKE A DEEP BREATH...EVERYTHING WILL WORK ITSELF OUT. Ya'll have a wonderful day. Over and out from Mayberry.

    Bath,

At 9pm, onsale time, no link appeared. After several refreshes, still nothing appeared. I closed my browser, re-opened and went to the Goods section, the link was now there and when clicked, it was out of stock. After trying several times (I remembered the out of stock message from the ticket sales), finally the link disappeared for good. This didn't happen for anyone (that's been mentioned so far) with the Boston sale. Yes, people were unlucky and didn't score a poster, but the system processed as designed. It didn't last night.

    Barking,

I'm not sure you really do get the technical side. The system has improved significantly over the last several months. Kudos to the 10C and the IT team they have working on this. This particular issue is out of the ordinary regardless of how many orders are processing. I've heard people say the same thing who used both Firefox and IE. Not sure if it was browser specific or not.

I would hope that the 10C would have someone look into this or it may be you who gets to make everyone who got one "feel guilty". It is a function of the 10C to address customer service inquiries. I'm not ranting, raving, or bitching, I'm just simply trying to point out the situation for the next sale.
  • Ok, one more observation from the "peanut gallery", then i'm done. I used to think of the PJ community and 10c members as a happy family that had one purpose, that being support PJ. I have an old friend that used to travel for months on end catching every Greatful Dead show in venues all over the country. Hell, he probably has 500 + Dead shows under his belt. Those folk really were a "family", selling goods and edibles just to get to the next show. Ive never been more comfortable in a large concert crowd than I was in G'boro, NC the last time the Dead played there. Everyone was one big happy "parking lot" family.
That said, when PJ palyed Raleigh, NC in 2003, I was PRIVALAGED to be on the front row. Near the end of the show, EV tossed his tamborine into the crowd (actually, right into my hands). I swear if I hadnt been 6'2" and weighed 275lbs, I would have never made it back to the car with my very cool piece of concert memorabilia. I had several people literally try and take it from my hands. This folks, is not a happy family.
It sounds like these posters are turning into the same thing. The way some of the folks in these postings are bashing each other and the 10c over a poster is absolutally insane. Do I need a taser or handgun in order to get to my car with a poster at the next show? Why cant we get along? If I was new to the 10c and popped in here to read the postings and find out more info concerning the poster sales, I would probaly be quite shocked and probablly consider not renewing my membership. If this poster thing is such a "crisis" to some of you, what do you do when the shit really hits the fan in real life...curl up in the fetal positon in the corner and cry?
Once again, we should be thanking the band and the 10c for supporting us as fans. I think they are doing their best under the circumstances.

if you sit and "refresh" the entire time you're not going to get the poster...

    straight up

by the way, i got the poster last night and could have gotten the Boston but I didnt want it.

i would change your technique and say a little prayer

    The Sentence Above Is False

  • thanks to the 10c I finaly got my Boston poster and didnt have to spend a paycheck to get it. they were sold out at the show and this sale was a blessing. my suggestion to all who did not get 1 change up your technique and try again. like someone said B4 this was a nice gesture by the 10c that they didnt need to do at all.

  • i think the way they are going is the lesser of all evils. no matter what the ten club does/did someone would complain. now don't get me wrong...i think it sucks people didn't get a poster...especially those who actually attended the show(s). i'm just sayin'...

lastly, i think the 10 club is all about the fans. i wouldn't get mad at them. it reminds me of one of my favorite lines...

It does indeed suck that not everyone got a poster, but people need to accept that they didn't get one.....it is ok to be disappointed, but I don't see why people need to blame anything except for their bad luck.

Not everyone can always get a high-demand item.

It may seem weird that the "button to click" didn't show up, but perhaps it was taken down right after the posters were gone.

Instead of bitching, just hope for better luck next time.

It is a sign of poor character to always feel the need to find someone to blame for your failures/not getting what you want in life.

Disappointment sucks. Accept it. If there is nothing you can do to prevent disappointment, just deal with it!
  • sorry laura, the board is not a place to bash the very exclusive club that you are a part of and come to your own conclusion that the people who run this club and even the band are part of some grand scheme to make sure YOU dont get a poster...make it easy....dont try to get a poster anymore frame the ticket stub for your memories

Getting into the Playboy mansion for a pajama party is "very exclusive." The 10 Club is hardly exclusive. As the band continues to gain new fans, the number of members has increased, and a lot of the fans who were with the band back in the day have a tough time dealing with it.

Laura in NJ ... I can't speak for the the Continental shows, I didn't go to them. But here's my simple strategy for getting a poster at a show. DON'T GO TO THE FIRST MERCH BOOTH RIGHT INSIDE THE DOORS!!! Show up when the gates open, calmly walk into the venue, disregard the backed-up colon that is the first booth you see, and walk right up to the next one further down the way and buy a poster. If the posters were sold out at each show, the 10C wouldn't be selling them on the Web site.

That, and don't believe people who work for the venue. They lie. "Oh, posters are all sold out. ..." could mean "I'm too lazy to find out if we can get anymore at this booth."

Just keep your eye out (sorry if you might have a glass eye, that's not what I mean) while you're there. I struggled like a salmon swimming upstream to get a Boston I poster, my brother, who got bored waiting for me, walked up the hallway a little bit, walked right up to a booth no one was waiting around, and bought one without a hassle.

    Very Well Put!

In the words of Oasis: "Please don't put your life in the hands of a rock n roll band"

When I was a yong kid, I always wondered why older folks complained about "My generation", but now that I am 40, and see how people act when they don't get their own way, it makes me want to complain about "Your generation!"

  • One more suggestion for those unable to score one of the last 2 posters....check your watch/ computer time. Sync it with the server time. If you are off by as little as 2 minutes, it could mean the link has been put up and taken down...the Boston link was up for less than 5 mins. Thats all for today, off to wait for the mailman...Good luck on Tuesday.
