  • I'm loving it. I think calling it beautiful sums it up perfectly. Can't wait for the discbox to arrive!

    That download was sooo easy.

I'm so impressed with how this turned out, I'm a little speechless, but not really surprised ... we're talking about Radiohead here. They don't make bad music. They think about everything. The songs were good to begin and their treatment in the studio takes nothing away from some of the wonderful live versions we've heard before. It's just made them somehow new. This record sounds very personal to me, intimate ... but maybe some of that comes from getting glimpses of the thought process along the way on DAS. I don't know. It's just really good.

i've downloaded the album but I haven't been able to listen to it yet (I'm at work, no speakers, it sucks).
    How's the album ?
is it experimental like kid a or hail to the thief or is it more like the bends or ok computer ?

So overall, I'd give it an 8.6 out of 10. Better than Hail To The Thief and on par with Amnesiac. It compares to Kid A quite well in my opinion. Oh, and everyone who wanted to hear Radiohead rock out with guitars...with the exception of Bodysnatchers...there aren't too many guitars on this album.

EDIT: Let me clarify, there are guitars, but not of the distorted, rockin' THE BENDS variety.

hmm... that doesn't sound promising. ill get back to y'all.

    indeed.
And, since Radiohead album is only 48Mb, it seems it's a low/medium quality MP3 encoding.
PJ's MP3s on basecamp were encoded at 256, not 128...

It's easily not The Bends. To me this is a love child between KID A and OK Computer where the kid looks more like his father OK Computer, but still has some attributes of it's whore of a mom, KID A.

This is truly a beautiful album. I'm on my second listen now, and after another listen or two I will have to post my full review.

Early favorites though are 15 Step, Bodysnatchers, Nude, All I Need, Reckoner, and Videotape.

Sounds intriging, although I had my mouth watering for alotta guitar, though.

Would you at least say that OK Computer is an abusive father and really pounds his beliefs into In Rainbows?
  • The ease of that download was incredible. I honestly expected a sever free for all with the download taking forever due to the fact that thousands of people world wide would be DL'ing at the same time. Talk about an amazing process....offering it for whatever we want to pay, telling us just 10 short days before, awesome box set available. Top to bottom this was just so well done. I wish certain other bands had their shit together enough to do things like this. Bands who's business name rhymes with Ren Bub. It's funny how people are bitching about the bitrate of the mp3's.

I'm not all the way through it but I gotta ask...WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO RECKONER????

it's so different isn't it?! where are the scuzzy guitars? not that I care. I prefer the Kid A side of Radiohead.
I'm on the last song... and this album is fantastic.

Bodysnatchers is the one you will really love. Oh, and Jigsaws Falling Into Place.

Yes, I think you will hear a bit of OK Computer on this album. It's not blatant, but there are a lot hints to it.

it's much less self-consciously arty than anything on Amnesiac and contains certainly more guitars than Kid A while still maintaining all of the elements that made Kid A great. listen to it. it's excellent.

  • I actually love the new Reckoner. It took me time to get used to it, but it's fucking great. I listened to the live version again and I can see why they changed it. The original riff was too simple...and sounded too much my Myxamytosis(sp?).

Good for them. I'm not really a Radiohead fan, but I may download this just on principle and give them $15-$20. This is what bands and the RIAA SHOULD be doing.

I am not even a huge Radiohead fan and I am gettin an earboner.

Maybe the new album will help me appreciate Amnesiac and Kid A more.

You're just getting an ear boner? Ever since the first note of 15 Step my pants have been really tight.

Amnesiac has some amazing songs (Pyramid song for example) but I don't enjoy it a great deal as an album. Kid A is fantastic I reckon. I probably prefer it to OK Computer. I can already imagine liking In Rainbows best though after a few more listens.

took me about 6 attempts and each page took several minutes but keep trying. it's worth it just for All I Need. one of their best songs ever.

fantastic... so the wankers once again take a great live guitar track and turn it into some shitty wannabe techno tune for the album?

There is nothing on this album that even comes close to the "techno" of Kid A/Amnesiac
