    The Boss in Rolling Stone

interesting audio clips where Bruce discusses the following :

Vintage Springsteen Photos and Audio of Bruce Talking Bush and New Bands
    10/23/07, 5:43 pm EST

As you may have noticed by now, Bruce Springsteen adorns the cover of the latest issue of Rolling Stone. In his revealing interview, Springsteen discusses the challenge of balancing music and family, as well as his latest album, Magic. But it’s one thing to read the man’s words; it’s another to hear him talk. We’ve been teasing you with promises of exclusive audio from his interview with Rolling Stone’s Joe Levy for the past week, and finally, we’re delivering. But before you click on the clips below, flip through this gallery of vintage Springsteen photographs that track his early days with his first band, the Castiles, his long-haired Seventies phase, and the times he met up with U2 in Europe.

Springsteen talks about adding some rarely played classics to his setlist, and how Magic echoes his earlier albums.

Bruce discusses a few of his new favorite bands, which include Rise Against and Against Me!.

Springsteen talks about what will resonate most about George W. Bush’s legacy: how he was able to pack the Supreme Court with conservative judges.

KID ROCK STOLE THIS SLOT FROM BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN...
    He's stealin' it back
Magic is back on top. After debuting at #1 on The Billboard 200, its second week on the charts had the album knocked out of the top slot by Kid Rock's Rock N Roll Jesus. This week Magic fights back, reclaiming #1 and bumping the Kid to #2 (according to Variety, only 240 copies made the difference).

So for some reason I never gave Bruce a chance. I think probably because growing up I mostly only knew Born In the USA, Dancing in the Dark, Streets of Philadelphia, etc. None of which I'm a big fan of still.

I bought Magic on a whim and love it. So I got Nebraska next and love that. Where should I go next?

The Rising is also a great album....lyrics are very somber, but excellent. Just get 'em all. I'm off to Oakland in about an hour. Bruce tonight, Bridge tomorrow. It's gonna be a great weekend.

Part of Bruces lore is the Live show experience.
It is captured well on Live 1975-85 package.

The Essential Bruce Springsteen is also really good- even moreso if you are able to snag the limited 3 disc set ( not the 2 ) .

Maybe you can go the chronological route , in the order of the releases, but if not i would also get greetings from asbury park and definitely without a doubt Born To Run .( this just was reissued in the 30th anniversary package whgich includes the documentary " Wings For Wheels " along with the live 1975 concert " Live At The Hammersmith Odeon " where you really see how these guys crashed onto the scene in some powerful performances.

    I see you're from Boston.
Get your ass to the last 2 US Shows of this tour ( before the band and the magic heads over across the pond to europe ) , which will happen in just 2 or 3 weeks. There are regular ticket "drops" on TM, so keep your eyes peeled. If i hear of ticketdrops, i usuallly post here in this thread, so check back.

    enjoy.

The rangers had a homecoming in Harlem late last night
And the Magic Rat drove his sleek machine over the Jersey state line
Barefoot girl sitting on the hood of a Dodge
Drinking warm beer in the soft summer rain
The Rat pulls into town rolls up his pants
Together they take a stab at romance and disappear down Flamingo Lane

Well the Maximum Lawman run down Flamingo chasing the Rat and the barefoot girl
And the kids round here look just live like shadows always quiet, holding hands
From the churches to the jails tonight all is silence in the world
As we take our stand down in Jungleland

The midnight gang's assembled and picked a rendezvous for the night
They'll meet `neath that giant Exxon sign that brings this fair city light
Man there's an opera out on the Turnpike
There's a ballet being fought out in the alley
Until the local cops, Cherry Tops, rips this holy night
The street's alive as secret debts are paid
    Contacts made, they vanished unseen
Kids flash guitars just like switch-blades hustling for the record machine
The hungry and the hunted explode into rock'n'roll bands
That face off against each other out in the street down in Jungleland

In the parking lot the visionaries dress in the latest rage
Inside the backstreet girls are dancing to the records that the D.J. plays
Lonely-hearted lovers struggle in dark corners
Desperate as the night moves on,
Just a look and a whisper, and they're gone

Beneath the city two hearts beat
Soul engines running through a night so tender
    In a bedroom locked
In whispers of soft refusal and then surrender
In the tunnels uptown the Rat's own dream guns him down
As shots echo down them hallways in the night
No one watches when the ambulance pulls away
Or as the girl shuts out the bedroom light

Outside the street's on fire in a real death waltz
    Between flesh and what's fantasy
And the poets down here don't write nothing at all,
They just stand back and let it all be
And in the quick of a knife
They reach for their moment and try to make an honest stand
But they wind up wounded, not even dead
    Tonight in Jungleland

i donno. Two Hearts isn't a filler song on The River.... but it's close.

as much as i enjoy My Love Will Not Let You Down i prefer Bring On The Night which shares many of the lyrics but the lyrics fit the music better.
