no disrespect intended-
and coming from a fellow NYer that attended all of the Shea Stadium Shows of 2003 out in College Point ,
i would go out on a limb anbd guess that Bruces preferred stadium in NYC would be the original NY Yankee Stadium- since they are about to close it down for good and this 1 venue has eluded the Boss up untill now,....
shea is bout to close down to, he could do a 2 nighter at both stadium.yes i know it has eluded him all his life, he wants to make it special and thats why he hasnt played it yet.i mean people still talk bout floyd at the stadium to this day
Ron: I just don't feel like going out tonight

Bruce Springsteen’s opening show at Madison Square Garden Wednesday night sure brought out the stars. Bono showed up, but chose to hang backstage. Ethan Hawke was spotted in the audience, as were Broadway’s Patti Lupone, ABC News’ Elizabeth Vargas and Bon Jovi’s Richie Sambora. Rolling Stone publisher Jann Wenner was so enthralled by Bruce he brought his wife, Jane. (Yes. They are still husband and wife despite, well, a lot.)
Before the show began, Little Steven van Zandt, Springsteen’s musical leader and guitarist, held a reception backstage for his Sirius Radio show, “The Underground Garage.” Fellow "Sopranos" James Gandolfini and Jerry Adler made the scene, and took pics with Little Steven.
(Our kudos and thanks to Steven: he convinced Bruce to play “Thundercrack,” a 1974 rarity, as one of the night’s encores. This was a thrill for my friend Vicki Fischer, who actually saw Bruce play the song at Max’s Kansas City back in the day.)
Springsteen’s show — sold out, natch — was a jubilant recreation of old hits and new ones from his top selling “Magic” album.
“Magic,” by the way, would seem the obvious choice for Album of the Year at the next Grammys. Songs from “Magic” like the title track, "Devil’s Arcade," "Last to Die" and "Living in the Future" fit very well into the live Springsteen show. The audience actually sang along to a new song, “The Girls in Their Summer Clothes.” Later, Bono was overheard telling Springsteen manager Jon Landau that that was the album’s hit.
But Bruce didn’t disappoint with older songs, too. From “The Rising,” he played the title track and sang “Lonesome Day.” Among the classic classics, “Born to Run,” “Badlands,” “Promised Land” and “Backstreets” were outstanding.
Springsteen threw in “Brilliant Disguise” for the first time on this tour, too, and it became a lovely duet for him and band member/wife Patti Scialfa. He got a carnival effect on “Darlington County” — featuring Soozie Tyrell and Clarence Clemons. “Dancing in the Dark” proved a perfect ending, followed by the Irish jig, “American Land.”
Springsteen remains a marvel. First of all, at 58, he rocks like there’s no tomorrow. He’s incredibly fit and focused. Second, while the show is about dancing and rocking out, it’s also all about politics. Before he sang “Livin’ in the Future,” he reiterated his feelings about the change in the habeas corpus law and in civil rights. He openly supports the New York City Coalition for the Homeless, too.
But mostly, he and the E Street Band are homeboys. I couldn’t help thinking during the show last night: Do they get this in other places? I’ve never seen Springsteen play outside the New York area. It’s hard to imagine other cities appreciating him; he is such a creature of this little metropolis. Just hearing a little of Clarence play his horn — that’s a comforting sound. That and hearing Bruce count off each song, “Ah, one, two, three, four!”
Springsteen finishes his Garden gig Thursday night, but don’t worry. I’m told a whole new leg of the tour is about to be announced, with many more dates coming next year in New York and everywhere. Of course, that would make sense once “Magic” is crowned Album of the Year.

Night two at the Garden, with six songs not played last night, including the tour premieres of "Meeting Across the River" and "Jungleland" (played back-to-back, natch). Springsteen introduced the pair with a dedication to the late Peter Boyle: "An old friend passed away a while back -- we met him when we first came to New York City... Today would have been his birthday." "Meeting" featured just Bruce, Roy on piano, and Garry on stand-up bass. A trainspotting note: the "two grand" practically sitting in the singer's pocket is now "three grand" -- chalk it up to inflation. On "Jungleland," Clarence did himself very proud with the sax solo, and his Boss was smiling ear-to-ear. Other rarities in the set were "Tougher Than the Rest" and "You Can Look." While Bruce always wants the asses out of the seats, tonight he was noticeably working hard to make sure everyone in the crowd was into it. He was particularly into it himself on that ever-intense three-pack from "Reason to Believe" through "She's the One," this time with "Candy's Room" between. Banter included hawking of new wares -- "We've got a new line of E Street Band sexual toys. What we use in the comfort of our own home, you can use in the comfort of your own home" (strangely, the merch tables seemed to be sold out after the show) -- as well as more playing on the rivalry between New York and New Jersey. Not forgetting where he was, though, he came out for the encore after a rare costume change, wearing a black "New York City" T-shirt. Notable guests in the crowd included Howard Stern and his staff, Bette Midler, and Caroline Kennedy. Notable guests onstage were five members of the Sessions Band, joining old bandmates Soozie, Patti, Bruce and the rest for the show-closing "American Land": Lisa Lowell on vocals, Jeremy Chatzky on bass, Larry Eagle on percussion, Charlie Giordano at Roy's piano (whlle the Professor played accordion), and Greg Liszt on banjo.
Next: On to Chi-town, for a pair of shows on Sunday and Monday.

American Land just doesn't do it for me...especially as a closing number

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band brought their 2007 Magic tour to Madison Square Garden for two nights, and Thursday’s second show was another remarkable performance by the most energetic 58-year old performer in rock history. Springsteen worked through much of the new material, while sprinkling in career highlights, including a particular emphasis on Born to Run material. The highlight of the evening was the ultra-rare “Meeting Across the River” which segued directly into “Jungleland”, and which Bruce dedicated to his friend the late actor Peter Boyle.
nyctaper has supported Bruce for over 3 decades–going all the way back to 1975 when at the age of 12 I spent my allowance money to buy a vinyl copy of Born to Run. As we post this recording on this site, we again support him with our utmost sincerity. While Springsteen as been an avid anti-bootlegging artist, so too does this site condemn the sale of unofficial live recordings. In recent years, Bruce Springsteen has appeared to have drawn a line between profiteering bootleggers, and fan recordings. On the web, sites such as the jungeland tracker, backstreets, and dimeadozen have served to enhance fan interaction by freely sharing unofficial live recordings with the vociferous fans, all without any official condemnation by Bruce. We hope that this site will equally be seen as the supportive site we maintain, and that there will be no repercussions from the posting of this recording.
I recorded from Row C of Section 313, which is obviously not the ideal location in this venue. However, we were positioned directly on the side of the stage, and a large PA stack pointed directly at the section. As a result, while the recording is a bit boomy, its much clearer and more well-defined that I had expected. Enjoy!
Please do not download this recording and immediately run to a bit torrent tracker with it. The server speeds on this site permit broadband users to download this recording in approximately 15 minutes, much faster than seeding a torrent from scratch.
We are experiencing server overloads (not surprisingly). This download is also now also being hosted on a mirror site located here.

im really fucking fired up for this show sunday.......
not sure if you saw the post in the " My Weekend Plans " thread,
and on top of that i dont know if you have a GA ticket or a regular reserved seat,
but if you have a GA ticket you may want to read up on the lottery over at the united center website : http://www.unitedcenter.com/Story.asp?story_id=11
Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band General Admission Pit Line
1. On the day of the show, sequentially numbered wristbands will be distributed beginning at 2:00 PM at Gate 5 located on the southeast corner of the building. Wristbands will be distributed until 5:00 PM.
2. A starting number will be randomly picked at 5:15 PM; this will be announced and displayed on a placard at the gate. No more wristbands will be distributed after 5:00 PM.
3. 5:30 PM - All fans with GA tickets and a wristband should begin lining-up in numerical order, beginning with the announced number. The line will be escorted into the GA Pit Area in front of the stage approximately 10 minutes before the rest of the patrons are allowed to enter the venue.
4. One wristband per patron and the patron must also be in possession of a GA ticket.
5. A wristband and a GA ticket are required to enter the GA Pit Area in front of the stage.
6. The starting number will be drawn randomly at 5:15 PM by a fan. The fan holding the wristband that matches the starting number drawn will be first in line (i.e. if #'s 1 - 100 were issued and number 10 was drawn, the line would start with 10, then 11, 12, 13 through 100 then 1-9). When the starting number is announced, the line will shift accordingly.
7. The purpose of the random number distribution is to insure that all fans have the same chance of being first in line, eliminating the need to camp out. This policy also helps to insure customer safety and provides for an effective means of crowd control.
8. Anyone who receives a numbered wristband between 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM has a chance to be first in line to enter the Pit Area, but a wristband does not guarantee a place in the Pit Area.
9. Wristbands will be issued and affixed to the patron’s wrist only after the patron's ticket has been verified a GA ticket.
NO WRISTBANDS WILL BE ISSUED AT THE GA PIT ENTRANCE ON THE FLOOR WITHIN THE VENUE.
PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT NO PATRON, FAN, OR CLUB RUN LIST WILL BE HONORED BY TOUR PERSONNEL, SECURITY OR BUILDING PERSONNEL!

"At 58, Springsteen has more energy onstage than most musicians half his age. It's hard to fathom where he finds the intensity with which he rips through "Born to Run" during the encore--he must have played the song a thousand times by now. But the fact of the matter is that Springsteen's songs are about something much bigger than himself. Where other songwriters burn out of material or lose their appeal, Springsteen only gets stronger. He once said he likes to write about people whose souls are at risk. Right now, for Springsteen, it's America whose soul is at risk; it's American values, American ideals, American promises, the American dream that's at risk. He's not saying he'll save them--that part falls to all of us--but at the very least, he's gonna keep on singing about them until we find the strength to do it...."
