What time are you getting there if you have a pit ticket? I'm going to be driving to Ottawa from Philly (seeing a different band the night before), and will try to get there as early as possible. Do people sleep there to get there really early (I won't be doing that obviously), like fans of some other bands I like?

alltho the policy from venue to venue changes, the overall methodology is the same-

arrive early as possible for your numbered bracelet,

the drawing happens somewheres between 4- 530PM, then they line up, from the number drawn backwards, then the rest of the numbered bracelets allowed entrance, then the remaining PIT ticketholders are let in, basically in that order. GOOD LUCK JANEnY in the lottery! ;)

BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN & THE E STREET BAND GENERAL ADMISSION PIT LINE POLICY

    Thursday, Oct. 11, 2007

    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

On Sunday, Oct. 14, Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band will be visiting Scotiabank Place in Ottawa. For this event there will be a separate general admission (GA) line that will queue along the Gate 3 south walkway near the YMCA entrance to Scotiabank Place. The line will be indicated by signs stating “GA ticket holders line.” The GA line will enter Scotiabank Place through the Gate 3 entrance along with the accessibility-needs patrons.

The details of the general admission policy for this concert are as follows:

    - GA ticket holders may begin arriving to receive numbered wristbands at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 14. (Please do not attempt to line up earlier)

    - On Oct. 14, sequentially numbered wristbands will be distributed beginning at 2 p.m. at the Gate 3 entrance. Wristbands will be distributed until 5 p.m. One wristband per patron and the patron must also be in possession of a valid GA ticket. Wristbands will be issued and affixed to the patron’s wrist only after the patron's ticket has been verified. The wristband must remain on the GA ticket holder’s wrist at all times. Any GA ticket holder found with a tampered wristband will have that wristband confiscated, and the GA ticket holder will lose his/her sequential place in the line.

    - Anyone who receives a numbered wristband between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. has a chance to be first in line to enter the pit area, but a wristband does not guarantee a place in the pit area. No wristbands will be distributed after 5 p.m.

    - A starting number will be drawn randomly at 5:15 p.m. by a fan; this will be announced and displayed on a placard at the Gate 3 entrance. The fan holding the wristband that matches the starting number drawn will be first in line (i.e. Nos. 1 to 100 were issued and No. 10 was drawn, the line would start with 10, then 11, 12, 13 through 100 then from No. 1 to 9). When the starting number is announced, the line will shift accordingly. The purpose of the random number distribution is to insure that all fans have the same chance of being first in line, eliminating the need to camp out. This policy also helps to insure customer safety and provides for an effective means of crowd control.

    - At 5:30 p.m., all fans with GA tickets and a wristband should begin lining up in numerical order, beginning with the announced drawn number. The line will then be escorted into the GA pit area in front of the stage approximately 10 minutes before the rest of the patrons are allowed to enter the venue.

    - A wristband and a GA ticket are required to enter the GA pit area in front of the stage. No wristbands will be issued at the GA pit entrance on the floor within the venue.

Please be advised that no patron, fan or club-run list will be honoured by tour personnel, security or building personnel.

The above procedures will be implemented and supervised by touring personnel.

Access to the GA pit area will be subject to a maximum capacity as determined by the tour security, a Scotiabank Place representative and fire code regulations. Please take note that Scotiabank Place policy strictly precludes the following from entering the facility:

    - Cameras of any kind

    - Backpacks/large bags/brief cases

    - Outside food and beverage

    - Bottles or cans

    - Audio or video recording devices

    - Laser pointers

    - Intoxicated patrons

These guidelines are subject to change by the facility.

too bad the sound at that " IZOD " ( Continental Arena or even older Brendan Byrne ) Arena is probably the absolute worst on the east coast. I mean, check out Stevens vocals on " Radio Nowhere " .

LIGHT OF DAY RETURNS TO STARLAND BALLROOM FOR EIGHTH YEAR FIGHTING PARKINSON'S
The 8th annual Light of Day benefit shows are scheduled for the Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, NJ: a Writers in the Raw show on Friday, November 2, and the usual Saturday night blowout on November 3. Saturday night's line-up:

Band Stage: Gary "U.S." Bonds, Joe Grushecky & The Houserockers, Willie Nile, Nicole Atkins & The Sea, Joe D'Urso & Stone Caravan, Boccigalupe & The Badboys, Joe Bonanno and The Godsons of Soul, Jennifer Glass, Exit 105, Maybe Pete
Acoustic Stage: Dawne Allynne, Danny White, Bobby Strange, Bruce Tunkel, Johnny Grushecky, Melissa Chill, Rob Dye, Joy Bodnar, April Smith, Joe Rappolla, Jon Caspi, Mike Rocket, Anthony D'Amato, Tom Brieding, Ken Shane.
Springsteen does have that Saturday night off, in between 11/2 in St. Paul show and 11/4 in Cleveland. Of course, there's absolutely no guarantee he'll show -- on one hand, he's only missed one LOD in the last seven years, but on the other, he did miss one LOD in the last seven years. Our take, as always, is that you should go for the bands on the bill, and if there's a special guest, well, that's just icing on the pie.

As always, the concerts will support the ongoing fight against Parkinson's disease by supporting research into more effective treatments and a cure, as well as by supporting people who suffer from the degenerative neurological disorder. This year's concerts are dedicated to the memory of Light of Day friend and supporter Terry Magovern, who passed away on July 30, 2007. Click here for more information.

Tickets are on sale as of today, available through Ticketmaster outlets, charge-by-phone, and Ticketmaster.com, as well as through the Starland Ballroom box office.

Plus: LOD benefit shows continue throughout November and into December, with Light of Day Europe (Willie Nile, Joe D'Urso, Marah, Graziano Romani) and Light of Day Canada (Joe Grushecky & the Houserockers, Nile, D'Urso, and more). See the Light of Day calendar for details.

Bruce Is The Boss Of Billboard List with MAGIC

    not too shabby!
Although,he's lost some fans because of his political opinions,he still sold double the albums of the number 2 act!

Bruce Springsteen scores his eighth No. 1 album on The Billboard 200 with the "Magic" (Columbia), which moved 335,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It's his best sales sum since "The Rising" started with 525,000 at No. 1 five years ago.

Springsteen's other chart-toppers include "The River," "Born in the U.S.A.," "Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band 1975-1985," "Tunnel of Love," "Greatest Hits" and "Devils & Dust."

After bowing on top last week, Rascal Flatts' "Still Feels Good" (Lyric Street) falls to No. 2 with 168,000, a 69% sales dip. matchbox twenty matches its high-water mark on the chart with the No. 3 entry of the Atlantic compilation "Exile on Mainstream," selling 131,000.. The album contains six new tracks, including "How Far We've Come," which sits at No. 5 this week on the Hot AC/Adult Top 40 chart.

Due to the blazing popularity of the No. 1 single "Crank That (Soulja Boy)," 17-year-old Soulja Boy's artist debut, "souljaboytellem.com" (ColliPark Music/Interscope), debuts at No. 4 with 117,000. "Crank That" has spent four non-consecutive weeks atop the Hot 100 so far.

Sultry R&B singer J. Holiday can also attribute a big chart week to a hit single, "Bed," which fueled sales of his debut "Back of My 'Lac." The Music Line/Capitol album starts at No. 5 with 105,000.

Keyshia Cole's sophomore set, "Just Like You" (Imani/Geffen), falls 2-6 with 94,000 (-67%), while Kanye West's Def Jam album "Graduation" descends 5-7 with 92,000 (-31%). At 80,000, Reba McEntire's MCA Nashville set "Reba Duets" slips 6-8, a 39% decline.

Annie Lennox arrives at No. 9 with "Songs of Mass Destruction," her first album in four years. Moving 78,000, the Arista record falls short of the No. 4 start of 2003's "Bare," which sold 153,000 in its first week. The soundtrack to Disney's "High School Musical 2" rounds out the top tier, falling 7-10 with 77,000 (-10%).

There are a host of other debuts in the top 20 this week. Trey Songz' Song Book/Atlantic album "Trey Day," the follow-up to his 2005 debut set "I Gotta Make It," starts at No. 11 with 73,000.

Faith Hill's "The Hits" (Warner Bros.) opens at No. 12 with 69,000, Brooks & Dunn's "Cowboy Town" (Arista Nashville) debuts at No. 13 with 300 copies less than Hill and John Fogerty's first Fantasy album, "Revival," starts at No. 14 with 65,000.

Dashboard Confessional's "The Shade of Poison Trees" (Vagrant) arrives at No. 18 with 48,000. Further down, Cross Canadian Ragweed enjoys its best charting set to date with "Mission California" (Universal South) at No. 30 with 23,000. The three-disc Bob Dylan collection "Dylan" (Columbia) debuts at No. 36 with 20,000.

Albums sales this week are down 1.7% compared to last week at 8.9 million units, and are down 14.8% compared to the same week last year.

Great fucking show tonight. I just missed out on being in the pit, but I was right against the rail on the floor and it couldn't have been more perfect. It was SO nice to see so many people just enjoying themselves. Everyone I talked were experienced concert people. It was a long day, but very worth it. Sound was a bit muddy at times I thought, but Bruce's energy was contagious. Loved every minute of it. Couldn't have been more of a perfect day.

Ok well the food at Marshy's could have been better but whatever. Their cheese is one molecule away from being plastic.

Oh yeah, I can't forget the Arcade Fire. They came out into the pit before Bruce came out and I thought it was awesome that they were there just cause I think a few of their songs are totally Bruce inspired. They were rocking out to the show, but then getting to see them play (well two members) play with Bruce was awesome. They did a Bruce song I didn't know and Keep The Car Running.

    you lucky canucks !
    AND you get Backstreets ?
That Bruce song you didnt know was " State Trooper " , and the ESB hasnt played it live since the Born In The USA Tour .

heres the write up from Backstreets

October 14 / Ottawa, ON / Scotiabank Place
Notes: Four more tour premieres tonight, including "Tougher Than the Rest" (an audible, in the "Heartbreak"/"Brilliant" slot on the setlist) and "Backstreets." But when the spot-on debut of "Backstreets" isn't the big story of the night, you know something unusual happened. Yep, in the six-song encore, Bruce and the E Streeters were joined by members of Arcade Fire, husband-and-wife band co-founders Win Butler and Régine Chassagne. First up was "State Trooper," a song Arcade Fire has been known to cover, and which the E Street Band hasn't played live since the Born in the U.S.A. tour. After that, they all went into "Keep the Car Running," a hard-hitting track from Arcade Fire's magnificent Neon Bible. [Stream the album version here.] We're always hoping for more covers in the set, any chance this one stays in? No? Well, the chances weren't good that it'd get played in the first place, either... so we can dream. In any case, quite a curveball in the indie band's homeland, and a cross-generational mingling of talent on par with the R.E.M. team-up of 2004.

It was a lot of fun. I must say I felt young in this particular pit. I didn't get there early enough to be in the upfront pit section, but I was halfway in the GA section right behind it. Fabulous show, as Bruce always does. Nice to hear some tracks I haven't heard in many years (my first show was 1978). Adam Raised a Cain and The Ties that Bind are favorites of mine.

Really really cool to have the Arcade Fire people there. Gotta go finish some work.

My one complaint was the no camera thing. I was in a perfect position for once to take amazing pictures dammit.

bruce has his own security at every show ,independant from each particular venues security- their sole purpose is cameras and video-ing. It is long known about the no camera policy ,......

you need to " sneak " your pics , sparingly, throughout the show.
dont get caught, and dont let them see the flash ! ( disable the flash mechanisms if youre able to , it will prolong your picture taking life at the bruce show) You need to be very crafty in order to capture decent pictures-

dont sweat it, some pics usually surface one way or the other after each show. .
For the ones who had a notion, a notion deep inside

I got some decent ones in '99 with a disposable camera. The beauty of scoring 4th row seats in the pre-GA days.
    This weekend we rock Portland

I know, I didn't even bother in the position i was in. I was right on the rail with lots of space in front of me with 2 guards facing our way the whole time. At the last Bruce show in 2005 I sneaked a pic and almost got assaulted by one of the venue people who is actually a family friend lol. The more you pay for a ticket the less you can do it seems.

I saw Patti Smith a few weeks ago...ticket was $35.00 and there was no problem for recording or cameras. Love that.

i love to snap pics also-
but at the same time i can respect the fact that Bruce doesnt like scumbags ( such as scalpers or ebayers ) making profit on his image or work.
