Here's the setlist from the "fan-club-only" show in Belleville two nights ago. Looks like it was a short set, but we only got 8 songs at Sasquatch, so if I was lucky enough to be at this show, I certainly wouldn't have complained. It's great to see them pulling out so many classic gems on this tour! Titanic Terarrium- holy shit!

i was at Friday's show.... not Saturday.
Here is what I remember from our set list, in no particular order:
The Lonely End of the Rink (opener)
New Orleans is Sinking
Fully Completely
Ahead By A Century
Lake Fever
Bobcaygeon
Music at Work
Gus the Polar Bear
Fireworks
Grace Too
Escape Is at Hand For the Travellin' Man
Poets
Gift Shop
Flamenco
Fire In The Hole (closer)
That's all i can remember right now... i know there were a couple that i didn't recognize.....
Even though I didn't get It's A Good Life :(, it was great all in all....
I adore Bobcaygeon and Lake Fever, so that was fun.
Escape Is At Hand is a new favorite!!! it was really beautiful......
Fire in the Hole was indeed a great closer!! thanks for getting me psyched up for that one!
And Flamenco?? Mookie, i laughed out loud at that one!! what a concidence! hahaha.... i was thinkin' of ya!
The CN tower was right behind the stage, and the spotlights from the ACC were roaming the sky, lighting up the clouds... what a location!~~*~~ ...i surfaced and all of my being was enlightend... ~~*~~0 -
sounds awesome ceg! i was doubly confused...surprise eh?
my bad, like i said before, at least you got flamenco!0 -
i seen em at sasquatch festival right after the hailstorm and they looked like they were a young band again.... so much energy and the new songs they played were really good.. this next album will be their best in a while.. they played some song called 'rink'? im pretty sure its new.. seems that they are showing off more smiths influence and indie bands that were at sasquatch aswell09/04/05 - Calgary, AB
08/02/07 - LOLLA!!!0 -
Anybody planning on catching the boys in Europe this summer? They're playing a show in Belgium on July 8th with another one of my favorite bands, Buffalo Tom. Man, I'd step over my own mother to see that show.
Some album news:
During a radio interview last week, Paul Langlois said that the new album is finished and will definitely be released this fall, most likely October. They don't have a title yet, and they're still deciding on the artwork and tracklisting, etc... As those of you who have seen them live this summer will attest, the new songs are f**king amazing, and the new album is shaping up to be yet another classic from the high priests of Canadian rock. I can't wait!"I try my best to chug, stomp, weep, whisper, moan, wheeze, scat, blurt, rage, whine, and seduce. With my voice I can sound like a girl, the boogieman, a Theremin, a cherry bomb, a clown, a doctor, a murderer. I can be tribal. Ironic. Or disturbed. My voice is really my instrument."

DNOT GO SWIMMING PAST THE DROP OFF!!!!..and you will come to find that we are all one mind, capable of all that's imagined and all conceivable0 -
OK fellow hipsters..
Riddle me this..?
Why is there no link to the 2006 setlists on the new/ updated Hip.com website?
If not for your generous posts here and Hipbase.com , I wouldn't have a clue what was going on with this tour so far..
I'm also itchy to get some "Official downloads" but that'll likely be kicked back until 2007 to allow the band to sell the new CD this fall..
(ugh!)
Also, please gimme the scoop on Hip tour merchandise..
any cool T-shirts, hoodies etc.?
Tough being spoiled by Pearl Jam's 2006 bootleg program right now...

As for new merchandise, the only show I've seen so far this summer was their performance at Sasquatch, and they only had one new shirt at the time, a black one with a cool lookin' Hip logo on the front and all the dates on the back with "Summer Fling '06" written at the top. I've heard that at the recent shows in Ontario, they have a lot more merch to choose from now, and they do have some new posters available at the Hip store:

What do the new songs sound like? Are they more bluesy old school Hip, or more hard-edged modern Hip? Or neither?
I am totally fuckin' happy either way.0 -
