I'm surprised at either all the naysayers or uninterested responses. I mean, sure, we're almost powerless against the billionaires class, but if we unite for one day, we can remind them the power we have when we come together. It's a show of force to remind them not to forget who enriches them and how we can taketh away. I'm not optimistic that a large majority of people would be willing to commit to a long term boycott (at least based on the election outcome), but if we did, we could impact their bottom line significantly and force them to recognize what we as consumers want matters.

Not sure why so many need to come in here and shit all over it though. Move along if your pessimistic worldview finds this unworthy of your time. We'll just keep marching towards plutocracy.
    It's a hopeless situation...

No they haven’t. Do you even understand the point of the blackout? Why don’t you do your research first and educate yourself before making  uneducated posts.

Better to virtue signal than to not show any virtue at all.

They won't even notice.  So the revenue may be less than typical for a Friday (even this is doubtful), but the purchases will just shift to a later day.  Small businesses and shops may see a bump for a day similar to the small business Saturday event.  Not sure what this is showing anyone, but kudos to all who are participating.

Actually, it's a movement, not a "cause", and it that was spearheaded by The People's Union USA.  And no, the don't have a "shop".
Nice try with the trolling though.

    The People's Union?

No, it's the People's Front of Judea.

I don't get it. I do not see this as having a huge impact. February is a slow month for retailers. Trying to blackout the President's day sales probably would have had made more sense.  :s

Yeah, to be fair, I heard nothing bout this until PJ sent the email yesterday. I feel like they should have had built some momentum. But I also don’t follow a lot of resistance stuff.

I get it. I hope people that are complaining are people that voted in the election.

Isn't Ten Club a small business though?

    I mean, enjoy the three-day weekend...✌️

OK, what would you like to see PJ do? Should they give up all their possessions and earnings and offer free concerts so you will respect them again? I'm not sure what people are expecting. If this comes down to the fact that you don't like their concert prices or that they sell merch, I guess it's time to move on. No person of wealth is going to ever live a lifestyle that is 100% in line with those who helped them get their by buying their product/service, but hopefully they don't lose their values and sense of purpose along the way. I mean we've seen the way most of the billionaire and wealthy class have obeyed in advance because it suits their bottom line. These people have no ethical or moral grounding and will do whatever makes them wealthier (see Musk, Bezos, Zuckerberg, etc.). Amazon and Walmart have low prices for a reason and I understand that not everyone can afford to always shop more ethically. I also don't think people really give a shit anymore. These same people scream America first while supporting cheap Chinese goods and shady labor practices overseas. The Walmart/Dollar Tree saturation to low income consumers is disgusting. I want to support my local businesses and I've found ways to make it work to pay that extra few dollars to a local place, but it's not always easy. The simple option is for most to go on Amazon and get it shipped (in many cases from overseas) for free and have it in 2 days. Yeah, that's pretty awesome in today's world, but then don't complain about loss of American production and jobs when over half of your disposable income goes to imported goods.
    It's a hopeless situation...

Yes, my wife follows a bunch of people who are in opposition to the current administration and it has been widely promoted and discussed.

The amount of hate in this thread, and the berating of others is discouraging. Disappointed in 10 Club, and Pearl Jam,  who just so happen to thrive in  capitalism
Gone are the days of fighting TM, and their ever newer ways of charging ludicrous prices for seats (even aisle seats now)
just going along with that bit as part of the establishment… I’m out.

They're still transacting business on blackout day as my wife's 10C membership renewal just posted.  I guess she's part of the problem doing business today of all days :worried:

I mean, sure, we're almost powerless against the billionaires class, but if we unite for one day, we can remind them the power we have when we come together. It's a show of force to remind them not to forget who enriches them and how we can taketh away. I'm not optimistic that a large majority of people would be willing to commit to a long term boycott (at least based on the election outcome), but if we did, we could impact their bottom line significantly and force them to recognize what we as consumers want matters.

This is exactly the attitude that these billionaires count on.
