OK, what would you like to see PJ do? Should they give up all their possessions and earnings and offer free concerts so you will respect them again? I'm not sure what people are expecting. If this comes down to the fact that you don't like their concert prices or that they sell merch, I guess it's time to move on. No person of wealth is going to ever live a lifestyle that is 100% in line with those who helped them get their by buying their product/service, but hopefully they don't lose their values and sense of purpose along the way. I mean we've seen the way most of the billionaire and wealthy class have obeyed in advance because it suits their bottom line. These people have no ethical or moral grounding and will do whatever makes them wealthier (see Musk, Bezos, Zuckerberg, etc.). Amazon and Walmart have low prices for a reason and I understand that not everyone can afford to always shop more ethically. I also don't think people really give a shit anymore. These same people scream America first while supporting cheap Chinese goods and shady labor practices overseas. The Walmart/Dollar Tree saturation to low income consumers is disgusting. I want to support my local businesses and I've found ways to make it work to pay that extra few dollars to a local place, but it's not always easy. The simple option is for most to go on Amazon and get it shipped (in many cases from overseas) for free and have it in 2 days. Yeah, that's pretty awesome in today's world, but then don't complain about loss of American production and jobs when over half of your disposable income goes to imported goods.
You are right, there is very little they can do, as evidenced by their tour decisions. Before Election Day, they performed in mostly safe blue states. After the election? Essentially a tour of Gilead.
Seems like they are admitting they know there is little a popular rock band can do politically these days. So let us shop at Amazon, especially those of us where getting to the store can be a bit painful. Still, I’ll make sure not to buy Prime for a day. Help me understand what this will accomplish. What is the end goal?
I'm surprised at either all the naysayers or uninterested responses. I mean, sure, we're almost powerless against the billionaires class, but if we unite for one day, we can remind them the power we have when we come together. It's a show of force to remind them not to forget who enriches them and how we can taketh away. I'm not optimistic that a large majority of people would be willing to commit to a long term boycott (at least based on the election outcome), but if we did, we could impact their bottom line significantly and force them to recognize what we as consumers want matters.
Not sure why so many need to come in here and shit all over it though. Move along if your pessimistic worldview finds this unworthy of your time. We'll just keep marching towards plutocracy.

Reading through this thread leaves me wondering how it is that so many Pearl Jam fans have turned away from or even against a lot of what (besides making great music, of course), this band has stood up for over the years. And why all the nasty attacks on a boycott that was voluntary? No one forced all these haters to do one single thing. And why slam those of us who participated? IMHO raping is not a word that should be used to describe the monopolistic practices of ticketmaster/live nation. That said, maybe boycotting ticketmaster should be on the menu. The monopoly only works when there is demand.

It's because if you have been paying attention, the band hasn't been standing up for anything. Actions speak louder than words. Saying you are against the monopolization and then participating in the monopoly is not standing against shit. Seeking attention is different than actually doing something about an issue.

Rock fans, including Pearl Jam fans, disproportionately belong to certain demographics that are more likely to be unsympathetic to the causes that Pearl Jam champions. This tension has existed for a long time.
