Report coming tomorrow in my ticket thread over in GtF...
A preview: "How to Completely Botch Nashville"
I watched them take all of those offline at 4p the day of the artist presale. I thought, 'even if they trickle those out 10 tickets at a time, there's no way in hell they'll sell them all.' You'll notice they still haven't dropped the back 3-6 rows in 8 of those sections. When they do, I assume they'll be $99, if they drop them at all.

I remember someone said that! Credit, where credit is due (I'm an aisle seat man, myself).
And you're right. It looks as if they're holding out for a special $99 drop at some point.
If I make a prediction that would've been bold 2 years ago, unless ALL those blue dot seats pictured above drop to $99...
Nashville night 1 will NOT sell out.

They would have sold those seats on the day of the public sale easily. Now they will sit there for a long time. All so they can fake scarcity and sell some premium tickets. They are using a selling tactic that creates panic and impulse buying.
I never thought I would see the day with PJ bending over for TM like this.

I know they hold tickets back & I understand why, but how is it legal for them to do that? Because they own the rights, etc? Perhaps this has been discussed before?

I get holding tickets back for friends and family and other reasons like contests etc. This is different. This is to trick people into thinking a show is sold out so they can sell higher priced tickets. Pearl Jam has their name tied to this.
I don't care about the argument of Premium is needed to keep most ticket prices low. Thats another argument all together. Trying to trick the consumer into paying way over face in fear of a show being sold out is not something I thought I would ever see with Pearl Jam tickets. There are so many posts on social media with people sick to their stomach impulse buying tickets they can't afford because they got caught up in the moment. Sure we are all adults and make our own decisions but sale tactics like this that exploit people during the chaotic time of a public sale is something I wish this band was not apart of.

Like I said, I understand why tickets are held back, but is it legal for TM or the band to do that? Free market? IDK? I'm sure it is. I don't get too upset about it anyways. I expect NOTHING from TM at this point.
As a practice it makes no sense because demand won’t ever be higher than the day tickets go on sale. That’s when panic happens and you don’t wanna miss out. They’d have sold out easily

Yup. That said, I watched Pittsburgh uppers for both shows sell out in real time. They weren’t just taken down like Nashville. Everything was selling one by one. Then they dropped singles throughout the uppers, all gone. They do the same thing for NHL and NBA playoff tickets, dropping random tickets minutes after the original sell out.
It’s just really strange business practice to release these after the holidays, at the end of January and not advertise it. They would have sold out immediately.
PJ has blame in this, but it’s not just the band members. Kelly Curtis retired during Covid. Ever since the new management team took over, this deal with TM had been the norm. For all we know Jeff thinks F2F is still great because it was in 2022, and there aren’t that many premiums. Definitely more premiums in better sections in 2024 than 2022.

Yes, I snapped up one of those Pittsburgh N2 uppers on that first day of the public presale. A week later I upgraded thanks to a very kind member to a lower bowl seat.
Well I’m finally on the board for Pitt N2! Huge shout out to Ppofour for coordinating a drop with me. It’s probably the only way to have any success at this right now so really appreciate the help.

It's so true. In the securities world, its called market manipulation and it's illegal. Compliance guy here.

They need to stop dicking around with the ticket manipulation and just acknowledge that the demand isn't what they were hoping for. Over inflating the prices ten fold to try and trick people is lame and isn't going to work. Holding back thousands of tickets to fake that the show is sold out is also idiotic.
The fact is, there are tons of tickets for Raleigh that are listed for $25 UNDER face value ON STUBHUB and still aren't selling. That's right. A scalper site is getting no movement on tickets under face value, but Ticketmaster shows the only seats available for that same show are in Stall 4 of the Unisex bathroom for $900.
Something fishy is going on. They drop all these tickets. Now I’m trying to arrange a drop to get my tix into the right hands here and it won’t authenticate my account. Keeps saying we need to make sure it’s really you sign out and request another code. Done it like 20 times. So instead of shutting out the bots they are shutting out real peeps trying to do the right thing. Frustrating!
^That happened to me when I was trying to get mine to someone. It was really frustrating. I tried on my phone and computer. I don't know what I even did but eventually it worked a few days later. I remember at one point yelling, "FUCK TICKETMASTER!" haha.

I've been experiencing a similar issue. For some reason, for the last 10 months TM will not let me list tickets via PC at all, no matter what I try. But it will let me list via the phone app. So, if you haven't tried already, I suggest trying to list thru your phone.

I would suspect it's legal. If you manufacturer a good, there's now law saying you have to make all the units available at the same time. You can sell your good as you please?

Tried both multiple times. Chatted with TM they said someone will get back to me within 3-5 days. Because that is helpful!

I've gone through the same issue. Their support doesn't help. Brute force is the only way through. Change devices, change browsers, eventually it will just work.

That is generally true unless you have a monopoly. TM has been playing these games for years and lawmakers just do not seem to care about concert/event tickets. What is surprising is the lack of demand.

People couldn't give away their Wrigley 2024 seats come the day of the show.....
But, Pearl Jam is not to blame. This is 100% a Ticketmaster move. There have been countless artists who they have held back entire sections for like this.
Pearl Jam can do nothing about it. They are bound by Ticketmaster. Getting the entire GA Pit allocated to 10C is more than most bands get.

Like I said, I understand why tickets are held back, but is it legal for TM or the band to do that? Free market? IDK? I'm sure it is. I don't get too upset about it anyways. I expect NOTHING from TM at this point.
I would suspect it's legal. If you manufacturer a good, there's now law saying you have to make all the units available at the same time. You can sell your good as you please?
That is generally true unless you have a monopoly. TM has been playing these games for years and lawmakers just do not seem to care about concert/event tickets. What is surprising is the lack of demand.
The government has a pending antitrust case against TM/Live Nation. Will be interesting to see if the new administration drops it. These are complex issues but I don't see the pricing as the product of a monopoly. The artists/promoters set the prices for any given event. Not every venue uses TM for primary ticketing. Some use Seatgeek for example. I believe Barclays center is one that switched to Seatgeek for primary ticketing but then went back to TM after a few years because Seatgeek's service quality was worse. Holding back tickets could drive up the price for an event, but that has nothing to do with a monopoly. If Seatgeek was the primary ticketer for these shows it could do the same thing, and no one would argue that seatgeek is a monopoly. There's certainly competition in the secondary market. The same tickets are often listed on TM and four or five other sites. Again, the base price is set by the seller but the add-on fees differ. It's easy to comparison shop and buy from someone else if TM is significantly more expensive, although you'd be taking a risk of fulfillment issues with stubhub and the like. Ultimately it's the popularity of the artist and limited supply that drives up pricing for some events. If the artist is playing one night in a 15,000 capacity venue and 150,000 people want to attend, it's not rocket science to see why the tickets get marked up. Monopoly isn't the reason.
Nintendo did it through the 80s and 90s with video game cartridges. De Beers does it with diamonds (and are up a creek now because of lab grown ones). It's been going on for a very along time in other industries. Technology has made it easier to do with intangible goods.

And you're right. It looks as if they're holding out for a special $99 drop at some point.
If I make a prediction that would've been bold 2 years ago, unless ALL those blue dot seats pictured above drop to $99...
Nashville night 1 will NOT sell out.

TM and PJ need to stop with the F-ing games.
