I do not think that is 100% true. Maybe more than it used to. And that is why the tours are shorter. May we all have jobs that pay us a million per night.
If we're being pedantic, he was asked if they "still enjoy being on the road" and Eddie said "wrong question" as he and Jeff shared a look and a laugh. The whole interview contained multiple comments about how they love playing music and playing live but people chose to latch onto that quote.
There are tons of interpretations here, but jumping to "they despise playing live" is a stretch. The way I interpreted it was "we're 60 years old and sleeping on buses and planes and in hotel beds away from our families is tough but we love to make music and that's the gig". Nobody loves every aspect of their job all the time. And of course they're not the same band they were 30 years ago you muppet -- none of us are the same. How boring would you be if you didn't change over THREE DECADES?
As for their "cute stunt" with Ticketmaster -- it almost broke the band. I was on that No Code DIY (ie no TM) tour and loved it but it was obvious that shunning TM meant you couldn't play in the best venues in the country -- I saw them in a high school football stadium...in 1996 when they were one of the biggest bands on the planet. They didn't let us down, we (and the other bands who didn't follow suit) let them down. TM and the current state of live music promotion sucks in spite of PJ's efforts, not because of them.

^THIS! Yes, I think it is hard for him to be away from his girls. They can’t always tour with him when they have school. They love the fans and playing for us but it does come at a personal cost too.
And they keep making new music. They cannot despise what they do if they keep doing it. It may have turned into a profession, but at heart, they write and play music. And they keep playing live. With10c tickets each night they do. The system may be broken, but they are still out there.
I miss the thrill of chasing tickets. That feeling when you’ve filled out the checkout form and the little wheel starts spinning and waiting to see if “you got the tickets” or an error of some sort.
I miss going to the box office or a record store at midnight and getting my tickets. At least before the internet 70-75% of shows were locals.
Not me. So many times the cashier wasn't ready, or someone in front of me would keep asking to find something else.
Just go back to 10-15 years ago, when there was no waiting room or verified fan. I at least had a good chance to pick out something. Now I get stuck in long queue and nothing will check out once carted, if I can cart anything at all.
Oh lovely, I see a couple of full rows dropped for the Raleigh shows in the $625-915 range.
Get em while they're hot!
TM put my account on a timeout/pause today. Guess I’m not eligible for these lovely seats!

FWIW as of right now there are no tickets in that row/section on Vivid or StubHub at the moment. So if nothing shows up in the next 24 hours likely that was a link.
Also anecdotally I have had no “glitches” on links for less desirable seats or less in demand shows— shows that have had recent drops or more activity in general. Not really drawing conclusions from that because I don’t know everyone’s experience but thought it was interesting to note.

@Sea@Kat - is there any corrective action in the works for these 10C tickets falling into the hands of scalpers, or is this the new norm moving forward?

Thanks for tagging Kat and Sea. I don’t know who can do something or what can even be done, but the evidence is all over. And it’s not just a pair here and there. It’s essentially every bit of inventory that is intended to be sold within the community - at face value - ending up on secondary sites. They essentially control more of the inventory than is on TM.

If 10C tickets aren't restricted to the 10C anymore, that's a pretty big membership perk out the window.

I’m not defending what’s going on but the perk is being able to enter the draw. Ten club has never offered to my knowledge that ten club members have first dibs on tickets sold by other ten club members. That would be a cool thing but I don’t think we ever had that, so we can’t have lost it.

While technically true, the initial fan 2 fan iteration in 2022 ( and parts of 2023 ) made it function as a true fan to fan marketplace. Yes, non tenclub members could purchase those resale tickets, but it was at face value and it was always going to be at face value unless a seller wanted to go through the mess of selling an entire account, etc. Effectively putting tickets in the hands of actual fans. And keeping them there.
Once the transferable barcode hack came into play, fan to fan essentially died because of the ability of scalpers to relatively easily transfer a ticket sold on a secondary market.

The barcode hack has been out for almost two years by the time the first shows begin. The exploit has been explained on tech blogs, I cannot fathom why the loophole shouldn’t have been closed in a hotfix within a week unless they just don’t care which at this point should be pretty obvious. I’m hoping if the artists can put pressure on them through their channels we could see it be fixed eventually, and I’m not saying that would completely stop scalping but they’d have to go back to credential sharing which has been an option since 2022 and we all know the process was possible to win on that tour and even in 23.

That’s the thing. It’s the same system. It has just been exploited to the point of being of no use to fans.
It is now on Ticketmaster, probably by way of pressure from artists, etc., to do something to close those loopholes that would allow the feature to function as it did. As intended.

That's the correct take. All the shenanigans happening with F2F this tour are squarely TM's fault for not being able to secure their platform. F2F was marketed as a way to ensure that more tickets get into real fans' hands at face value. But now that 3rd parties can generate the barcodes for non-transferable tickets it's open season for bots & brokers on F2F tickets. And as we've seen repeatedly in this thread, TM's anti-bot algorithms are ineffective. Sophisticated broker-networks are still snatching up F2F listings in seconds while actual fans who sporadically refresh get blocked. Again, TM's fault.
I would argue that at this point there is an extremely strong likelihood that more real fans would get face value tickets if the tickets were made transferrable via TM rather than locked into TM F2F. I just have to believe, based on anecdotal evidence, that there are enough like-minded fans on PJ socials who want to swap tickets or would sell extras at face value (off platform transaction + ticket transfer). But right now neither of those is possible.
A more elegant solution (10c marketplace, escrow, etc... for 10c-linked TM accounts) would take prioritization and development, so odds of that happening are probably very low. But aside from any contractual impediments, enabling ticket transfers for this tour should be as simple as flipping a switch. If I were 10c I would seriously consider making that request of TM. The intent of F2F was great, but TM hasn't upheld their end of the bargain. And it really like feels like fans are jumping through way more hoops right now for any chance of face value tickets than they would be if F2F just didn't even exist.

Please keep on doing this! And thanks for all your hard work! The only way things will change is if we’re able to find enough examples of scalpers exploiting the existing system and they decide to revamp it for future tours. Keep fighting the good fight! 💪

I do not think that is 100% true. Maybe more than it used to. And that is why the tours are shorter. May we all have jobs that pay us a million per night.

This band has always been about the fans. That is one thing that has not changed.
Just go back to 10-15 years ago, when there was no waiting room or verified fan. I at least had a good chance to pick out something. Now I get stuck in long queue and nothing will check out once carted, if I can cart anything at all.

@Sea @Kat - is there any corrective action in the works for these 10C tickets falling into the hands of scalpers, or is this the new norm moving forward?
i would say put a proposal together and try to get into someone’s hands
