I think a lot of people are overthinking the issue.
1. Is it a good idea for safety reasons. My opinion is it's a real concern
2. In non contact sports is it fair to biological females and or trans people. This can be debated.
There’s a lot of high school girls in wrestling who compete against boys. So maybe more thinking on the issue is a good thing.
Wrestling is an interesting contact support. It's controlled contact and by weight.
We had a female champion last year for one of our state weight class. It was good to see.
I think the discussion is whether (biological) boys should be competing in female sports. I don't think most people have an issue with girls/parents choosing to sign up to compete against boys if they have the ability.
She won 2 years in a row. That is impressive going up against boys her age and weight.
And what he’s saying aligns with a large majority of dems.
Why did another Dem get backlash for their comment by the party and have staff quit then though?
Is that a leading question? I don’t know. Tell me what the backlash was specifically.
It was in the article:
"Other Democrats have gotten pushback for comments similar to Newsom’s. Democratic Rep. Seth Moulton of Massachusetts has been vocal about transgender policies and told The New York Times in November that identity politics, particularly around transgender rights, hurt Democrats in the election, saying, “I have two little girls. I don’t want them getting run over on a playing field by a male or formerly male athlete. But as a Democrat, I’m supposed to be afraid to say that.”
Moulton got criticism from Democrats for his comments, and his campaign manager, Matt Chilliak, resigned in response to the remarks, according to The Boston Globe."
I don’t know what your angle is really. Having people disagree within the group I see as a strength. Tge other option is the forced conformity and compliance we have with republicans. Newsom’s quote from the article highlights the complexity of the issue:
Newsom addressed both sides of the issue, saying, “You know that these poor people are more likely to commit suicide, have anxiety and depression, and the way that people talk down to vulnerable communities is an issue that I have a hard time with as well. So both things I can hold in my hand.”
My angle?
I thought it was nice to see his comments on the issue as a whole. I like his thoughts on the subject and his thoughts of concern still for the people.

For the most part why questions are just argumentative. I couldn’t tell if you think what Newsom said was in the minority of they would be some kind of fallout for him.
It’s easy to criticize D’s for dancing around issues when you are incorrectly comparing the two parties. R’s have the benefit of having a mantra of keeping things as they are; when you’re a D, and want progress, you are naturally going to have differing views as to the tempo of that progress. So you have to make sure you’re walking that impossible line of supporting everything and everyone while balancing being rational.
The hard left are the tug boat pulling the barge where it needs to ultimately go. The weight of the barge dictates the pace. Sometimes that barge thinks it needs to dock and re-supply. The tugboat requires constant movement and lashes out at any blockages.
Meanwhile R’s stay ashore, laughing at the whole spectacle, while never allowing themselves to consider a refreshing swim.

Besides the fact that my kid got a concussion from the genetic male goalie, this is also true. The girls had to beat a team with a genetic male goalie a head taller than the rest of the kids to win a provincial medal. Was that fair? F*Ck no. Sure glad Pipsqueak shut down this team.
I walked away thinking we need to find a guy willing to say he's a girl to remain competitive.
I was swimming in the Great Barrier Reef Animals were hiding behind the Coral Except for little Turtle I could swear he's trying to talk to me Gurgle Gurgle
But I'm mad enough (pun intended) that if I could, I would I take a team of boys to the provincials this spring and get them to say their girls and crush all of the girls teams just to make the f****** point.

Slow progress is all I meant by that. They pull as hard as they can, the mainstream pulls back and adopts what is rational.

whether you want to believe it or not, the fact of the matter is, countries that are much further left than the US have a much higher rate of citizen overall happiness. This is fact, not opinion. So you are rejecting happiness because you subscribe to this fallacy that you lose freedom in the process. Or that it’s some slippery slope to communism. But yet you all complain about the super rich controlling everything. Maybe if you folks would make political financing laws a priority, you wouldn’t be in this mess. But it’s probably too late. All politicians in the US, no matter how righteous you believe they are, are beholden to their donors/highest bidder. D’s and R’s alike.

I get it but I imagine part of the reasoning for allowing the goalie that you mention was because the kid probably had no other place to play.
That's a spot where liberals get caught a lot. They want to be fair to the goalie and not tell them they just can't play

Why is the government in a better position to manage it than the agency/association that controls the sport? We also know the legislation written by republicans is poorly done.
I don't think that honor belongs strictly to republicans.

Because society has always needed guidelines to follow. Why did the government have to make it illegal to smoke on a an airplane before people stopped? Those is charge of youth sports aren't usually specialists in child development or doctors making these decisions.

Too many Americans think and act as if America is the only country in the world that exists and won't (can't?) think beyond our borders.... when we compare our incarceration rates or death by firearms to other developed countries for example, you realize just how fucked up we are, but it's not a problem if you ignore those statistics. Global inflation caused by the pandemic is another example... blaming that on Biden was one of the dumbest things going last year, but hey... that's America for you.

These are both really weird comments for this thread....go ahead and make yet another America sucks thread...unlike me getting shit from kat when I posted the article on Newsom because there was already a thread (that was locked but they would re-open...which I am supposed to know despite of course them also locking threads and never re-opening them as well), they will allow any number of trump, or I hate america threads. So have at it.

My comment was a direct response to your “GTFO”. I don’t think the US sucks, and there’s no need to be taking it personally. Your political system sucks. That’s the heart of most of your (and in different ways, MOST country’s) problems.

That your takeaway from my comment is "America sucks" kind of reinforces my point, but I digress.
The rest of your comment has nothing to do with me. I've never before made a thread about America sucking, nor am I about too, so don't hang that shit on me just because I made an accurate statement about the myopic view too many Americans entertain.
& maybe DM Kat about your beef with her. Or don't, but regardless, don't put that on me either.
Circling back to thread integrity - no, I don't think boys / men should be competing in all female sports - I'm all for people being allowed to exist, but girls / young women (especially in HS and College) should be able to expect a fair level of competition (and safety) too.
I also don't think this very hot button subject is at the forefront of so many* of our lives in the interest of safety for girls and women... if conservatives cared about protecting women, they would be doing a lot more for them then simply hating on transgenders, but that's probably another uncomfortable truth about America that people won't want to acknowledge.

I think most people recognize most of the inflation was global and due to covid. The problem they had with Biden and inflation was he denied it at first, then claimed it was high when he took office. And if you deny the problem exists, then naturally you're going to get accused of not doing enough to fix it.

Instead of bothsideism, if we stick to the topic then it is strictly republicans.

Transgendered women have been playing against other women for decades, so it only became this massive thing when republicans decided to make it a culture war issue and found another group to demonize and scapegoat. Also, republican politicians aren’t doctors or child development specialists. They can’t even decide how to define a biological female.
