It's a pretty simple issue to solve that has a scientific way to show why it's an issue. I do think the cause of Trumper brain smoothing is that they take issue with the world being complex and in order to deal with life and the world being complex, they can only process things as binary, zero sum, and reductive to make things as simple as possible in order to just function.
