I’m wondering if they are moving away from the postponed show concept in general and opting for the full cancellations from here out? Postponing is probably difficult and you’re holding everyone’s money. Plus not everyone is going to be able to make it back to the rescheduled show especially anyone traveling. It’s got to be a difficult call. There’s a chance you get better by showtime, but if you wait too long and can’t do it then people don’t have a chance to cancel/refund flights hotels etc…
Yeah I wonder if their strategy of cancelling "a few days ahead" instead of "as late as possible" is out of respect for the travelers this time around. Or if it's just because of a doctor ordering the next couple of days is no bueno for the band. Pardon my French.

I’m a public school teacher. Recently divorced and came alone. Just like the rest of you here, a good bit of $$ on this trip to London, Berlin, and Barcelona. I’ve never been to Europe for any reason, so I’ll still be able to do all the touristy stuff (which I’m not a fan of). And experience a very cool area. But I’ll never be able to do this again. I mean, even if I could, why would I at this point.
What would be the upside to postponing vs cancelling for them?
In 2020 they had two wait two years to come, and have 2020-ticketprices in 2022. Seems like a hassle to have that albatross around your neck, for a band that travels short stints. Would be much easier to take the next tour and what countries work - as it comes and as a clean slate?

I also think they cancel instead of postpone because they would eat the cost of inflation when they can't up the ticket-costs when they return later...
Sure, they are learning also that they can't ask that kind of money here, so holding it back with postponed shows wouldn't work. I think most people would opt out at this point. At this point they should come back with an economically sound plan or not come back at all. Charging more than a 100 bucks for tickets is simply too much in Europe.
I had tickets for both Berlin shows, and I only found out 2 hours ago about the cancellation.
Having read through all the comments, the one thing I want to share is that what saddens me the most is the fact that I will not see Pearl Jam play this year 😔

The morning news is a bummer, especially having woken up already in Berlin, As so many others I am stranded in Berlin now but I try to make the best out of it.
It is the 3rd concert that got cancelled for me. So, will I further travel for shows of my all time fave band?
Yes, I think so..: as their music and vibes are so much more powerful and essential as any wasted money could prove differently... So, I wish the band a speedy and full recovery and all the best ... and I hope they will come back to central Europe one fine day..:
there is no way to peace, peace is the way!
...the world is come undone, I like to change it everyday but change don't come at once, it's a wave, building before it breaks.
I read some comments after Manchester on here and other social media about how poorly Eddie was, how bad the show was and they should have cancelled. Couldn't believe how entitled some people. Read the comments here to see how heartbreaking a cancelled show can be. Eddie at 50% is far better than no PJ at all.
I feel for all you, I went through it last tour and going through it again with Barca.

This is really really disheartening.
It makes a lot of us nervous to book this kind of trip in the future. I'm going to have fun in Berlin and Barcelona regardless. You will too

Ed was on fire in Manchester and if he had not had said anything about being sick, I honestly would not have picked up on it.

I'm not nervous and it's thrice as expensive from Canada. Mind you, I consider the opening night NZ 1 more likely if things go south.
I figure, what better time to go then when they go? If not now, then when? I'll feel part of a fan base group there and that's pretty cool. My itinerary is packed full of other adventures, including a dream come true snorkel of the Great Barrier Reef. I feel blessed my child can see them alive and colourful. She writes similis in her poetry about them!
I've have had a full year to look forward to something amazing and I feel privileged and grateful to travel and to Pearl Jam for inspiring me.
Let's 🎨 some more!
If there are no shows in NZ/AUS I'm still going.. will be my 5th time..i will just adjust my hotel in Gold Coast to be closer to the beach instead of venue

The only thing on fire was his throat. He wasn't terrible but was clearly struggling
I'd guess Jeff is sick too, at the very least; see his Instagram post this morning.

He's painting while being stuck (it seems) in his hotel.

Jeff posted new art; when asked about the materials he used, he said, "small hotel kit of watercolors, pencils, and crayons." I'm just guessing but it sounds like he's stuck in a hotel room, not out sightseeing etc.
