Another armchair doctor here saying that if he was already spitting out phlegm as someone in another thread (I believe) mentioned then he will be probably alright for the London show. Bit of cough syrup, a bunch of advil and he will be as good as new.

I agree. Still might not be 100% but definitely better than yesterday. Then back to his best by berlin 🤙
Speaking as someone who has a ticket for Saturday and will lose a couple of hundred quid in hotel expenses if the show is cancelled, I'd still rather they postponed it to the end of the euro leg than accommodate an unwell singer by curtailing the set and relying on the crowd singing a hit-based setlist. But that might just be me.

I’m in the same position and definitely agree (if it is possible)
Doctor...You are very ill Ed....Is it ok to get a 2nd opinion? Doctor...Of course! You need a haircut and a shave too....

I agree, but the logistics of rescheduling a stadium gig at such short notice seem unlikely.
It seemed to me that Ed was suffering with cold or flu type symptoms as opposed to the throat issues he has had before. Fingers crossed some Antibiotics and a couple of days rest will sort him out for London. It was still a great gig last night and Ed was really making a effort to interact with the crowd.
FYI, antibiotics don't treat viruses. They are for bacterial infections. One might be prescribed an antibiotic to prevent a bacterial infection like pneumonia from occurring when someone's immune system is weakened from a viral infection, but antibiotics will not speed recovery from the viral infection itself.
A lot of anecdotes suggesting it has picked up a bit. I just had for the first time after dodging it for 4 years. Was probably considered a mild case but took me out for a couple days. Definitely would have been tough to perform a rock show with it.
Forget anecdotes. There's data in various locations showing increased positivity, increased hospitalization, increased virus levels in wastewater, etc. However, these things are location-specific. So it's on the rise in some places, and not so much in other places. Eventually, it will begin to decline in the former places and begin to rise in the latter places as it circulates. Every summer has seen a surge, typically later in the summer than June. The Delta wave in 2021, which was a huge spike, started in July and peaked in August.
My guess is that was more the dry desert air. Bono mentioned having his hotel room heavily humidified for the Sphere run. He may have been joking but said the humidity was so bad his wife wouldn’t stay in the room.

They havnt had the best track record recently when it comes to rescheduling shows. Especially in europe

Thank goodness it peaked here then too, as we were able to catch it before the back to school illnesses, thus passed the testing required to get across the line 😀 and make it to Ohana!
It was all about timing illness back then. Everyone should have hunkered down with Stone a couple weeks back!

Bingo
Look at all the cancelations or postponements in the last 2 years. Most of them were done minutes or hours before the show. Some like Vegas and Prague were done in advance but that is not the norm.
Hell Vienna they had the GA line already in the buliding.
I was sick two weeks before the Ireland trip. Perfect timing. Felt great over there and not sick when I return. Usually end up getting sick by the end of a trip.
Rolling Stones still keep themselves in a bubble as does Billy Joel.. Staying in hotel.. away from most people...I know this as I know high up people in both orgs. If any touring band doesn't do this now as the summer FLirt covid viruses surge (as already doing here in So Cal) then they are asking for trouble. If you see those IG posts of Mick around the cities they play in its staged with no one else close to him. PJ needs to do that if they wanna finish this Euro leg

You, like me know how to travel. I come home and get sick, too. I always say I catch it on the plane on the way home, but I just play way too hard on vacations.
Well I sure as fuck hope Vedder figures out when to get sick before the last two legs, especially that US one with all the kids going back to school crud
Ed can’t catch a break. 2022 I thought he was sounding the best in a long time, and then Europe happened. Then I thought after Chicago 2 last year he sounded the best I’ve heard him sing since 2016. Then he got COVID. This year, I thought he was hitting high notes he hasn’t hit in years, and holding other notes longer. Again, best since 2016…and then gets sick again.
To the people calling him out for smoking, I don’t think the guy has smoked a stick since 2010 if I’m not mistaken.

I guess he’s not as sick as someone in Neil Young’s entourage.
