Sounds like I have heard this Eddie Vedder-song and vocal before.

(not a bad thing in itself)
I had the same thought. Sounded predictable, like I've heard it before. Like I could hum along even though it was my first time listening.
But like you said, doesn't mean it's a bad song and don't mean it as a complaint. I want to hear the full song.

So far I'm digging 1 out of 4 songs on this album.

I'm 2 from 4 but that's in keeping with my original observations of hearing the album. Half good half not for me.

Feels slightly similar to Fallout Today from Earthlings.

A bit of a swingy betterman. I think I like this one, which makes me 3 for 4 so far on the stuff we have heard.  2 for 2 on the full releases, 1 for 2 on the 30 second clips, but need to hear those fully to properly judge.

    Cant wait.

I like it. I’m 3.5 of 4 so far. Undecided on something special but it has been stuck in my head since hearing it yesterday

Waiting for Stevie is the one song so many of us are dying to hear.  I’ve never heard so many different reviews/journalists/fans/Stone hype it up as a total callback to early stuff

I think they are getting their "you didnt expect these" sounds of the the way.  The last 2 songs probably would sound a bit stark within the concept of the album.  By releasing those early, you expect them, and its less of a transition, maybe.  Just thoughts.

Building on that point...Who You Are was a single from No Code and I remember people freaking out about it, "that's it, I'm done with Pearl Jam".  What a classic that album has become, though.

Same with Nothing as it Seems, that was received a little strangely.  So, they sort of have a history of releasing some of the outliers rather than the anthems.

I would kill for a song on this album that sounded anything like Nothing as it seems! The last 2 are the opposite of what I hoped for. Not that its bad cause its not. Was just hoping for rock, not dad rock.

I think they have touched on sounds like that since Binaural, though, as Pendulum comes to mind.  You Are is sort of a predecessor of Dance of the Clairvoyants, too.  (And Dark Matter, for that Matter)

But again, Binaural is 24 years old, so its had time to find its place in the catalog.  We were all different people back then, so those sounds meant different things at different points of our life too.   But again, some of these new ones have not had time to find their place, and I think they are getting some of them out in the open.

Ran the snippet a few times, and while I don't usually like this style of rock, I do find it catchy.  The guitar riff + Eddie's vocals are pretty cool.  I think the full song will be nice, and it sits well as track #3 after the first 2 thumping rockers.

Ed may be the king of dad rock now with the overly sappy lyrics and the unnecessary dropping of the the f word to prove he is still "badass".

Thin Air is brilliant.  They should let Stone write more love songs.
