"if dems hadn't won the two elections they won, they would have lost both". Now that's some fucking genius logic right there folks.

I think the point was the rules for the Biden victory were different from every other election we’ve had in recent times. These rules benefited Democrats, clearly. I know it’s been a long time which makes it difficult to think up there, and I know the Oilers could end the agony, but let’s try to think clearly, man. You can do better. I know you don’t think that, but it’s true

if you don’t believe that, the advances to quantitative computing are astounding in the last year. You can ask AI and learn something for yourself, but you have to know how to phrase the right question. Here’s the question to ask AI. Post into Google and learn. You are welcome.

“did the 2020 general election have different rules for voting?”
States control their voting rules. That’s in the Constitution literally.  So yes, there are different rules for voting EVERY ELECTION.

Rules that make it easier to vote and increase turnout benefit Democrats.

Thanks for more pearls of wisdom that blow our minds.
you should head over to the canadian politics thread and listen to him wax poetic about the hypocrisy of us still having a monarchy while "crying" about trump.

cuz last I looked, the king of england has pretty much zero power beyond a figurehead, but hey, I'm a Manitoba Genius, so what do I know?

Mental stability and an aversion to neurotic authoritarians are apparently Democratic kryptonite.

Nate Silver, an American statistician and founder of the now-shuttered political analysis blog FiveThirtyEight, recently dug into why men, young men in particular, don't like Democrats — a trend that has Democratic operatives scrambling both for answers and Joe Rogan-sized remedies.

Silver indicated that a big part of Democrats' problem might be that those young men beyond their reach are not mentally unstable or attracted to a mentally ill style of politics.

    Losing men

Democrats — whom Americans largely regard as weak and ineffective — are right to be desperate.

'Young men's attachment to the GOP has grown.'

After all, in the 2024 election, President Donald Trump captured 60% of the white male vote, 54% of the Hispanic male vote, and 21% of the black male vote toward a combined total of 55% of the male vote overall.

    ...

And  boy with the middle name curse I get your obnoxious first grade sarcasm... that's in no way you're comment about myself genius it's a comment about your constant need to cut others down. Enjoy this post, it applies

Validity wanes when people are asked to self report mental and emotional well being. Too many internal factors come into play.

‘The study found that conservatives rate themselves higher on personality and attitude measures like religiosity, marital status and patriotism, all of which are associated with better mental health.

Yet when researchers substituted the term "overall mood" for "mental health" in survey questions, the ideological gap disappeared.

This discrepancy may be explained by conservatives' greater discomfort with the term "mental health," which has become politicized and stigmatized in right-leaning circles.

"I would say that the main reason we may see this is because conservatives tend to take on more masculine traits, valuing things like toughness and seeing weakness in people who need help," Schaffner said.

He added a reference to the article: "Many mental illnesses often are stereotyped asdangerous, unpredictable, indicative of bad character, or a sign of personal weakness.

"Under a conservative ideology that emphasizes stability, security and personal agency, the thought of mental illness may invite thoughts of the unknown, or appear as a threat to their security."

You realize he is joking, right? (My preference is he doesn’t joke like that, but it’s not important here). The point of silvers research is to try to determine why democrats have lost votes with every demographic, which is unusual in these polarizing times where the huge majority of voters stay in their silos.

All the replies above make light of silver trying to peer into the worst 2024 demo, the manosphere. Glad to see so may here think their losing so many voters is funny.

They are losing men because one party says ‘men be better and step up’ and the other is saying, ‘hey be your unrestrained self and do/say what you want’ and then prove that being leading by that same example.

Like, how do you combat that?

I don't know, the Democrats should be the party of Andrew Tate.  That should be the goal.

I love the claim “religiosity, marital status, and patriotism, all of which are associated with better mental health”.

Interesting how that doesn’t bear out in the real world outside of the US. I simply can’t reconcile the angry white male who wears tshirts like the one above as having superior mental health over even a gnat.

I love the claim “religiosity, marital status, and patriotism, all of which are associated with better mental health”.

Interesting how that doesn’t bear out in the real world outside of the US. I simply can’t reconcile the angry white male who wears tshirts like the one above as having superior mental health over even a gnat.
Where was that claim?  I must have missed it.  I will say that I would agree that a HAPPY marriage would certainly be connected to better mental health.  Or any happy partnership.  I think humans need companions naturally.

Yeah...I struggle with the intellect of someone who says "I fucking need this shirt"
To answer the question on his shirt as posed, “roll some coal?”

Won't someone please think of the young men?!

    yes, what about the children?
What about them? Back to the cages they go.

    From CNN:

Trump administration takes hundreds of migrant children out of their homes, into government custody

The Trump administration is taking hundreds of migrant children already residing in the United States out of their homes and into government custody, at times separating them from their families and making it more difficult for them to be released, according to multiple sources familiar with the matter.

President Donald Trump and his top aides have repeatedly cited the influx of children who arrived at the US southern border under the Biden administration without a parent or guardian as a critique of his predecessor and his handling of border security. Trump officials argue that hundreds of thousands of those children went unaccounted for — and are in potentially dangerous situations.

While former Biden officials contend that the surge of kids in 2021 placed tremendous pressure on the federal system, they and several experts in the field refute claims that there are large numbers of children missing from the system.

Still, the notion that there are thousands of such children has served as the impetus for a major campaign by the Trump administration to set up a makeshift “war room” to pore over sensitive data and deploy federal authorities to children’s homes nationwide.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement has taken around 500 children into government custody following so-called welfare checks since Trump returned to the White House, according to three sources familiar with the matter, either because their situations were deemed unsafe or because of immigration enforcement actions against sponsors, the majority of whom are the kids’ parents or other family members. That number is more than previously known and an unprecedented departure from previous years when such occurrences were rare.

The FBI has been involved in some of the welfare checks, frustrating some at the bureau who expressed concerns that the effort is more targeted at finding children’s relatives who law enforcement otherwise has no pretext to investigate or arrest, according to a law enforcement official.

An FBI spokesperson confirmed in a statement that the agency is assisting other agencies in conducting welfare checks on migrant children. “Protecting children is a critical mission for the FBI and we will continue to work with our federal, state, and local partners to secure their safety and well-being,” the spokesperson said.
