Jeffries a very smart, calculating individual. Watch this "admission of weakness" come back as messaging later on when maga and everyone else complains how awful life is.

I'm convinced they believe Trump will sink everything and all they have to do is take the other position in messaging only, and people will have no choice but to run back to them at some point. And they may be right, but wow. Thats dire. And the journey to there will be ROUGH.

It's just such an odd situation though. Maga is truly a cult. However bad this stupid fucker fucks things up they will be right there with him.

We've entered the age of stupid. I really don't know how we get out of it. trump has proven that he can commit fraud, steal confidential information, tamper with our elections and he just walks away.

My initial attitude was to just get by these four years but I do wonder if he will ever leave office now. Congress isn't resisting anything at this point.

I guess out next hurdle is 2026. If we take back the house we will be in a better position. I'm not sure if the Senate is in play then or not.

Kind of funny how quiet it's gotten here.  Objectively, they got obliterated last night. Party was probably set back another decade. Instead of just riling up the left wingers, that's too easy and gets boring....let's ask an honest question...

What is the democratic plan to win back swing voters? They need a HARD separation from the left wing extremists that have hijacked the once great party that I used to steadfastly support and vote for.

What are their points of compromise to ever have a chance of getting back in office?  The plan can't possibly be spew forth the senseless rhetoric they did during 2024....there has to be a plan right?  The party used to be great. I am a 2x Obama voter, and voted against Bush 2x. Wouldn't mind being a swing voter once again but the Dems got to have a plan right? Some might say, somethings got to give?

The Dems don't have any idea what to do. It's not as simple as steering too hard into "we're not Trump."

They can't adjust to the way Americans get their information/disinformation. They don't understand why anger and frustration resonate so well in an era in which the American Dream has been replaced by mere survival. They don't seem to know what podcasts are. They don't know how to combat the bought-and-paid-for people whose voices actually matter (which I admit is a difficult one). They don't understand that people appreciate someone that does "something" even if it's bad more than someone that does nothing. And they're utterly handcuffed by the increasing popularity of MAGA after January 6, while Biden was essentially an effective if unspectacular president, and while Elon Musk becomes the biggest Kleptocrat in this country's history.

We tell third parties they need to focus on local seats, then state, then national. That's probably where the Democrats are right now. They're not a major player at this point. Assuming fair elections, they'll continue to have a third of senators and 40 percent of Reps because some states/districts will simply vote against MAGA. In the meantime, MAGA's cool. Traditional families are counterculture, which is cool. Disinformation has us believing Elon Musk cares about this country.

The party is out of its depth. It's been beaten by a much smarter and more savvy party.

WTF see you even saying? “Objectively they got dominated”. I don’t think you know what that word means.

What is the plan to win back swing voters? It’s easy. Let Trump continue down the path of the double whammy of inflation and recession. They are both well on their way. Good luck winning the mid-terms if that materializes. And he will own it. Recessions are normally not the cause of an administration but this one is barreling its way towards it.

Good luck winning the mid-terms if that materializes. And he will own it. Recessions are normally not the cause of an administration but this one is barreling its way towards it.
I agree, but doubt Trump will ever take responsibility, and his supporters will parrot any reason he gives them to blame someone else.

If things go as badly as they could, it'll matter but probably not as much as it would have 20 years ago. The performative outrage from the people Amagacans listen to will just turn out more nonsense. This is also why Elon said things would be bad for a while. By the way, Elon is going to pour staggering amounts of money into elections in 2026.

The Democrats will have to do more than "told you so." They'll have to a) tell us what they actually plan to do and b) find a way to get the message out.

Agree that he will pour money into the election.  But I"m not sure how much of a game changing set of plans that a congressional candidate will need to articulate.  If the economy is bad, and if he goes through with the tariffs, it will be, then the argument is that "I'll be check on the president.  Look at what the rubber stamp bought you".  Maybe I am being too hopeful, but I don't doubt Trump's ability to fuck something up.  He always has, especially when his hubris is at 10.

I'd also love it if we didn't have to rely on economic disaster to find a way out of this nonsense. All the Project 2025 shit should really be enough. We're basically accepting that the Dems can only reach people that feel directly hurt by it.
