Kennedy has polled relatively strongly against Joe Biden, the incumbent Democratic president. Standing next to no chance of winning the nomination, however, Kennedy’s announcement of an independent run was trailed last week. The announcement is set for Philadelphia on Monday.
Polling shows the potential for a third-party candidate to pull votes from both Joe Biden and Donald Trump, the president’s expected challenger in what would be a contest between aging and unpopular candidates.
This week, a Reuters-Ipsos poll showed Kennedy “could draw the support of about one in seven US voters”.
Some observers think Biden likely to sustain worse damage from a strong third-party candidate, perhaps handing the White House back to Trump: a twice-impeached ex-president who faces 91 criminal charges, 17 over election subversion culminating in the January 6 attack on Congress, as well as assorted civil trials.
Nonetheless, Kennedy’s links to rightwingers including the mega-donor Timothy Mellon and Steve Bannon, a close Trump ally, have been widely reported and his more extreme stances could see also pull support from Republicans.
Damn looks like I missed some excitement here yesterday!
what’s frustrating as always the gop are controlling the narrative. The gop consistently polls better with topics such as inflation and the economy. The inflation was specifically caused by the insurrection, yet how come the democrats aren’t even bothered with making that argument?
how could the insurrection cause inflation? Because trump was so preoccupied with not losing the election and trying to jerry rig a way to stay president, he fell completely asleep at the wheel and the supply chains broke down the last year of his first term.
remember when Biden became president, and the ports in California were lined up with empty shipping containers? It took Biden a year to fix that. So why aren’t we being bombarded by this with ads?
why has the public been allowed to forget this? What do they think a Republican will do about inflation? This is 100% Biden and the Dems fault. They get out debated all the time by the gop. They waste so much time yapping about trumps indictments, and no one other than Dems care less. Make the arguments that matter, hit your opponent at its strength, blame them for the economic problems. At least read a freaking poll, Biden, before it’s too late.0 -

What you said here illustrates what I mean about Dems needing to get tough and hit on those points. Their lack of strategy and hustle that way does not bode well. If I’m running Brandon’s reelection campaign press operation, I’m inviting the reporters and editorial page writers from all the local newspapers at every campaign stop and inviting them to a two hour meeting to discuss accomplishments and challenges and the administration’s plan to address them, with a local state/district focus. Then Brandon will make two requests of them, to fact check the claims but more importantly honestly report what was discussed, it’s okay to disagree but be honest in what you report, be factual. Mainstream big market media won’t be invited to these Q/A sessions. Let his record and grasp of the issues win them over or not.
The election is still more than a year out and a lot can happen between now and then as evidenced by this morning’s ME news. Way too soon to panic but if a repub gets elected, yea, the US is fucked.09/15/1998 & 09/16/1998, Mansfield, MA; 08/29/00 08/30/00, Mansfield, MA; 07/02/03, 07/03/03, Mansfield, MA; 09/28/04, 09/29/04, Boston, MA; 09/22/05, Halifax, NS; 05/24/06, 05/25/06, Boston, MA; 07/22/06, 07/23/06, Gorge, WA; 06/27/2008, Hartford; 06/28/08, 06/30/08, Mansfield; 08/18/2009, O2, London, UK; 10/30/09, 10/31/09, Philadelphia, PA; 05/15/10, Hartford, CT; 05/17/10, Boston, MA; 05/20/10, 05/21/10, NY, NY; 06/22/10, Dublin, IRE; 06/23/10, Northern Ireland; 09/03/11, 09/04/11, Alpine Valley, WI; 09/11/11, 09/12/11, Toronto, Ont; 09/14/11, Ottawa, Ont; 09/15/11, Hamilton, Ont; 07/02/2012, Prague, Czech Republic; 07/04/2012 & 07/05/2012, Berlin, Germany; 07/07/2012, Stockholm, Sweden; 09/30/2012, Missoula, MT; 07/16/2013, London, Ont; 07/19/2013, Chicago, IL; 10/15/2013 & 10/16/2013, Worcester, MA; 10/21/2013 & 10/22/2013, Philadelphia, PA; 10/25/2013, Hartford, CT; 11/29/2013, Portland, OR; 11/30/2013, Spokane, WA; 12/04/2013, Vancouver, BC; 12/06/2013, Seattle, WA; 10/03/2014, St. Louis. Democrat makes political threat to Biden over Gaza

"The previous president wanted to ban us and probably put us in concentration camps,” yelled Tlaib from the back of a flatbed truck parked along 3rd Street in front of the U.S. Capitol. “This one wants us just to die. That’s how it feels. Shame on them.”
