Franklin, and you can pre-order 42 days in advance instead of waiting in line, need to order at least 5 pounds of meat to pre-order.  I'll be in line on the 19th, wife says I can't pre-order anymore :)

I was sticking to centrally located but the RDF is one of the best things in town though.

I have been disappointed by BBQ in TX overall, but if your heart is set on it Terry Blacks BBQ is probably worth the trip.

Not disappointed by the steakhouses...top shelf in the world down here.  Perry's Steakhouse is phenomenal they have a few locations across the states but Houston was the first

Where's everyone staying for the United Center shows?  I know there isn't much for hotels close to the United Center.
Depends on budget the Hyatt House West Loop is a good option. West Loop is a fun, safe neighborhood with lots of restaurants and bars. A bit different from the typical touristy areas around River North and the Loop which could be good or bad depending on your perspective. It’s walkable to the UC (do it all the time myself) and there are several bars that should be running free shuttles on the day of the show.
That's where I booked....that's great info about the shuttles. I hope I remember that
Awesome. I will try confirm they will be running myself in the weeks leading up to the show and then can remind people.

Lol. Lots of options. I'll be doing some research...

This is the movie right. And where the locals go…
"What can you expect when you're on top? You know? It's like Napoleon. When he was the king, you know, people were just constantly trying to conquer him, you know, in the Roman Empire. So, it's history repeating itself all over again."

  • I second La Barbecue. The brisket was unreal. Franklins is good but the line can be a pain in the rear. The entire Austin food scene is great though, don't limit yourself to just BBQ.

And DFW has some great ones too. Heim in FW (try the bacon burnt ends) and Pecan Lodge in Dallas are two great ones.

I'm from Texas, but live in KC. The KC bbq is really good, but Texas bbq is so much better.

Marriott at the UIC hospital campus just South of the Blue line station.
    Same!

I don't know much about Chicago - I was told to stay north of Roosevelt - preferably near the river.  I went for Hampton Inn Chicago Downtown/North Loop/Michigan Ave. It wasn't recommended to me to be too close to UC. Would love to hear more about the area and better options tho.
If you're not used to cities, that's probably decent advice about UC. If you are, you can take it with a grain of salt. It's not the best area but it's not some hellscape or something either. Probably not even in the top 20 dangerous neighborhood in Chicago. Now, it's a different story if you cross I-90 to the west from there.

Anywhere within a few miles of United Center is going to be fine. Realistically, these days, if you stay north of 55 you're going to be less likely to have a problem than you would be to crash your car and die on the way to the grocery store.
This is not true........anywhere within a few blocks of the UC is going to be fine.  If you head west past Western Ave(about 5 blocks west of UC), it won't be good.  There won't be anyone walking from the concert and it's definitely somewhere you don't want to be.
If I'm reading correctly, this is a good Marriott to stay at?

Franklin, and you can pre-order 42 days in advance instead of waiting in line, need to order at least 5 pounds of meat to pre-order.  I'll be in line on the 19th, wife says I can't pre-order anymore :)

I have been dying to go to Franklin.  Really hoping I can pull this trip off.  Wish NFL schedule was out.  If Eagles played at Cowboys same time that would seal the deal for me on making the trip.
    47 shows and counting.
