Completely Misheard Lyrics?

Anyone hear Mike McCready's misheard lyrics "I wanna rock 'n roll all night..., and PART OF every day!" Eddie was bugging him about that on a show that was webcast a few years ago (I think from 'House of Blues'). Absolutely my favorite blown lyrics of all time..., even the biggest rockstars need to rest sometimes. HA

My first blown Eddie lyrics:
"King Jeremy, the wicked ruled his world", I thought was "Came down on me, the wicked, ruthless world" until I finally got the CD. Not a comical miscue it shocked me I was wrong..., and I think my version could work too.

I often sing "Glorified version of a pelican" to myself, but just as a joke. Glad you all heard it too.

That was actually from Live at Bonroya Hall and yes, totally hilarious.

For years, I thought Hendrix was singing "but I was gettin' laid" in "All Along the Watchtower." It's actually "the hour is getting late," which I didn't realize until I heard Dylan sing it (how's that for irony?)

Of course now, the "yeah!" yelled out by Hendrix after the line makes it even funnier to me.

It's not exactly a misheard lyric, but a while ago I was listening to Binaural on the drive home from work and I kept singing evaporation instead of evacuation. I'm a teacher and had been teaching the water cycle in science that day.

To this day, I still find myself, on occasion, singing evaporation.

I should write water cycle lyrics using the music of Evacuation.

in Black , instead of "all the pictures have been washed in black", I heard "oh my bitter self has been washed in black", which sort of made sense since there were "bitter hands" further down.

I´m Swedish so a lot of the time I hear stuff that´s not really there … Like in “Alive” I´ve always sang along: “Oooohhhh I´m staying alive …ooohhh I´m staying alive”, which gives it a quite horrible Bee Gees vibe. :shock: I´ve also had enormous trouble with Yellow Ledbetter. Then it turned out that even the Americans had a hard time understanding the lyrics, nobody seems to know what the f*ck is going on in that song … not even Eddie himself On FB there´s a whole fan page called “Inaudible sounds of Eddie Vedder”. Quite a challenge to decipher those status updates.

I took my wife to see PJ and Tom Petty in St Paul back in '06.
The bill was a perfect fit. PJ for me and a staple of classic rock for her.
She had never seen either band before and we were really looking forward to an awesome show.
Anyway, Pearl Jam came out and did their thing.
I loved every second of it.
They left the stage and the lights came up.
I asked her what she thought.
She said "it sucked".

I was floored. "Are you kidding me?! What are you talking about?"
She said "They didn't play any songs I knew."
How could she not know any of the songs they just played?! I didn't remember meeting her under a rock.
I started recapping the set list.
She said "Yeah, but they didn't play Into the great wide open or mary jane's last dance or don't come around here no more or american girl..."
I had to interrupt, "Well, yeah, those are Tom Petty songs. why would they... wait a minute..."
Then it clicks.

The whole time Pearl Jam was on stage, she thought it was Tom Petty.

I've heard of misheard lyrics, but mis-seen bands was a new thing for me.

We've since been divorced due to bigger, badder things that came down the road, but I'd be lying if I said this one wasn't at least in the back of my mind.

OH AND I JUST REMEMBERED THIS ONE... i've always known this wasn't the correct lyric, but every time i listen to "evacuation", i hear it as "EJACULAAATION!"
