A very good friend of mine, that was actually in a band for a while thought the lyrics to the Cherry Poppin' Daddies song Zoot Suit Riot was "Zoom, Zoom Brian!" I'll never forget walking down Main Street with her when she started singing it at the top of her lungs Zoom, zoom Brian, Brian!!! I actually stopped walking and just stood there laughing. She couldn't figure out what was so funny and I couldn't stop laughing to tell her.

I always thought it was "Dunder Cheap", like some weird Australian phrase I didn't know :)

Until really recently, I always thought that "Ben, the two of us need look no more" from Rats was "Then, the two of us made love no more"

I always thought it was "Sorry seems so much sweeter" instead of "Some things are so much clearer" in RVM. Still kinda makes sense!

One I kept thinking I was hearing wrong that was actually right is "Like Pilate I have a dog." I thought that was too lame to be the actual lyrics!

Oops - it's actually "SAW things so much clearer"!

I saw things so much clearer... when looking up the actual lyrics!

In RVM, for the first few listens at least, I heard:

"Sword thieves! Sword Thieves! Sword thieves! Sword thieves! Clearer, Clearer..."

    As a kid, AC/DC's "Hell's Bells":

The chorus,"Hell's bells" (quite simply), I always heard as, "have a spaz!"

If you listen to it, it does sound more like 3 syllables than 2.

    Made sense to me!

in rvm, instead of 'saw things', i keep hearing 'sophie! sophie!', oh, yes, i sang those words too, not even thinking about how little sense it makes

    Sophiee, Sophiee, Sophiee Clearer, Clearer.................
A friend of mine used to sing it like that too!!! She used to say: "Poor guy! He must love that Sophie Clearer so much...."!!!!

Thought that the lyrics in Metallica's "Fuel" - "Gimme fuel ,gimme fire, gimme that which I desire" was
"Gimme fuel, gimme fire, gimme double chinese eyes".
You know when someone gets stoned they call it chinese eyes. lol.

    which part?

Also in sad the lyrics on the site say "to live within our embrace" I've always thought it was "deliberate in our embrace" still not really sure which is right...

On other sights it says "he lit a match in bed". On the site I think its "He let ‘em as he laid in bed"
I didn't look through the whole thread to see if this was corrected or not...

It's actually "Eleven nights he laid in bed"
Is it so wrong to think that love can keep us safe?

    Hail Hail

"It's Ed Roland, thick and heavy" instead of egg rolling... I thought he just hated Collective Soul

And more recently, in Amongst the Waves

"Remember back, the early days, when Neil Young had us amazed."

My friend used to sing "He just smiled and gave me a bite of Mike's sandwich" in Men at Work's "Down Under" instead of "....gave me a vegimite sandwich"...

    Oh my gosh we laughed...

 This is a ripper! My brother and sister and me came up with all sorts of lines for this one..."buying beds from a man in brazil"..."lying dead in bombay...slacking off not much to say...i said to the man are you trying to touch me....because I come from the land bent days"???? WT@#$%....

Someone also mentioned Dirty Deeds...yes me and my siblings would march around singing "thunder chief"....hehe..

For fellow Aussies out there...any takers for Cold Chisel ...Khe Sahn especially.... belting it out Sat/Sun afternoons at the pub fifteen/twenty years ago....where do I even start with the many interpretations screamed at the top of voice all at once with that one..."left my heart to the scrappers, trappers, tappers, slappers, batters, ladders" rather than "sappers round Khe Sahn"....or any Jimmy/Chisel song for that matter....hehehe

But of course this is a PJ site and discussion so as for PJ...Daughter...."Don't call me daughter...or petal...the pages kept will remind me"....yeahhh...righhttt...

    Funny thread...great laugh
Don't wait for the light to appear at the end of the tunnel.....stride down there and light the bloody thing yourself!

Salt Beams, Salt Beams, Salt Beams, Salt Beams,
    Clearer......cleareeerrrr
want you in my rear view mirrrroro

I didn't KNOW it WASN'T "salt beams" until I just read the "sing out loud in your car" post.. I was thinking, "where do they sing "saw things" in rearview mirror". DUH!

I thought salt beams fit cuz when you're driving in the snow and the road crew (not Pearl Jam's) sprinkles salt on the road to make it melt quicker. And that grime left on your car is salt beams---OH nevermind, that would be "salt streams". Whatever was I thinking! Oh now I remember--the "spray up" from the salt on the road from the car in front of you is "salt beams". But then again, it wouldn't be in the rearviewmirror
