Ohana Festival Update

thank you about my son. I guess I should have pointed out he is now 22 years old. Still a "kid" to me, haha. We have gone to more than a dozen pj shows together. We have tickets for another six shows if they would please reschedule!

You do realize that millions of children are attending schools and churches and mixing with the adult population at grocery stores and malls across the US?  Those that could be harmed severely by COVID have the opportunity to receive the vaccine.  Time to move on.

Kids are also wearing masks and staying apart from people where they can.  They are not jumping around screaming at a rock concert.

Whatever.  Statements about "every person who wants the vaccine will be able to get it..." are invalid.  Those under 16 are people, too.

At least there are no comments about sexual enhancement drugs and kids in that response.

I hope that things can be safe at that point and they make the right call.  I do trust that Pearl Jam is one of the bands who will look closely at things and make the call based on safety and not be governed by greed or desire - so if they decide to go forward I imagine that the numbers, policies, and predictions will support it being safe at that time.

If someone decides they don't want it, then that's on them. Do we stop driving cars because some refuse to wear seat belts? Time to move on."

Nothing going over my head, although the implication is nice, we just do not agree.

You will also have the right to stay home if they do not hold the event.  Or you can just head down to Dana and waive a lighter around while listening to Buckle Up on your phone. 

It is a beautiful beach, I've run a few times right past where the event is held, as the sun comes up.

I'm more debating your analogy of "we have seat belts for kids.  no vaccine for kids' but I'm guessing you are a selective listener/reader.  I can't help you there.

- got my first dose today (as a Canadian, sometimes felt it would never happened);
- second dose August 19;
Don’t need to get rid of my Ohana tickets anymore

I'm in Vancouver and still waiting for my first shot. So frustrating because the longer it takes the longer it will be for the second shot and I have weekend passes for Ohana (if it happens).

wow-you have to wait four months for your second shot?  Brutal.....at least it will time out that the two weeks after the second shot will be elapsed before Ohana....

It is what it is. No vaccines produced in Canada so the supply is limited. We’re still a bit ahead of France, Switzerland and other Europeans countries so can’t complain. And after the shitty 14 months we just had, four months will go quite fast. I’ll be jealous this summer of seeing full baseball stadiums in the US and crowded pubs in the UK, but the era of Revenge Travel is just down the road. And I won’t miss any part of it.

How anyone can be anti vaccination I just don’t get it. Things are moving along very nicely here in the UK. I thought it was crazy that the Reading and Leeds Festival announced it would be going ahead in August but now I see it happening no problem.

There is preliminary chatter in Ontario that the 4 months might be cut down a bit, depending on supply chain.  But basically with limited quantities available public health decided it was better to get as many first shots done as possible before starting on second shots.

When I got my vaccine about 3 weeks ago, the dr told me it would most likely be sooner than the 4 months.

this better be happening...DMB tickets went on sale for shows in Irvine  in September so that is a great sign for Ohana to be a go. It’s going to be off the charts good if it happens.

I'm trying to plan out my trip a little. I'm flying from the east coast, either out of Newark or Philly. What airport should I fly into? I'm assuming I'll need to rent a car?

You can call me an optimist, but I am actually planning to go out to French Polynesia and fly to LA for this. Things are extremely busy in Vegas and things are getting back to normal. As someone mentioned, full arena for one of the UFC events.
