I said it pages back..mail in voting made this a clusterfuck, You knew this was coming. 4 years ago your heard " He's not my president"..now its the right sides turn to say the same... and being given the perfect reason to do so.
This is not really a clusterfuck. IMO it has gone very smoothly. The only thing making it a clusterfuck is the manufactured urgency and (an extremely dangerous) circus tent of the Trumps trying to undermine democracy.
States wanted the ability to count these votes early. Republicans blocked it. Also, Trump told his people not to do mail-in ballots, based on zero intelligence of voter fraud attached to them. What it really was, was Trump/R's didnt want as many people voting because it would cook their goose. It would also provide a parachute of what is happening now: trying to invalidate a perfectly fine election that we can/should take pride in as a country.
So in short, this is all manufactured by the Trumps because they are selfish reptiles.
Can and should elections be improved in the future? Sure!
Mail in balloting did not make this a clusterfuck. People not understanding the rules put in place, many times by republican state congress, is what makes uneducated people think it's a clusterfuck. People believing a liar and letting him manipulate them is what makes this a clusterfuck.
This... DeJoy was appointed post master general to rat fuck the USPS in May, 2 months into the pandemic when they KNEW mail in balloting was going to be huge, and mission accomplished, the USPS is a shit show right now... then there's the president's messaging over the last 5 months about mail in balloting being fraudulent etc etc... it's only a cluster fuck because the GOP made it so.
I kinda think, given the shamelessness with which they were cheating out in the open, they screwed this up. They should have waited a couple of months. There was a lot of time to prepare. A lot of time to encourage people to vote in person or, at the very least, mail it in super-early. I'm fairly risk-averse when it comes to covid but right when this scheme started I knew damn well I was not going to vote by mail.

But it was the right thing to do.
Hard to argue vs that..maybe extend the voting period to 4-6 weeks before election..Do it in person by zip code to keep crowd down somewhat...its just taking too long to count these votes like this.
Seems stupid to count the way they are counted. I didn't realize before, but some states don't allow counting until election day. Count as you go. It also would help eliminate some of the fraud accusations if they didn't dump them all at once to be counted, but counted as they came in.

Isn't this mainly a republican forced thing?
I don't really see the problem though. Maybe scale up the amount of people voting instead. Maybe hard to do during covid.
"Mostly I think that people react sensitively because they know you’ve got a point"
these local and state officials basically telling trump to stop being such a baby are priceless.
They are also probably the same ones who protested the vote 4 years ago, begged the EC not to vote for him and protested his inauguration. I find that funny too. I think this is going to be the new standard. When you lose, whine about it for days.

I don't know if it is. Someone posted a Tweet suggesting that. But that means nothing to me, my understanding is it is state law how they handle these things.

Pin that on someone or the claim is just as baseless at Trump's fraud claims. For example, the mayor of Philly said Trump needs to put on his "big boy pants." Did he do any of this last time?

It's definitely a state legislature forced thing and in many cases that's a Republican thing.
In all honesty, whoever masterminded this is a genius at manipulation. This was well planned and well thought out and included a large amount of people. Pretty amazing.

Am I the only one who remembers the protests? The commercials trying to educate the EC and the public that they don't have to actually vote for Trump. Congress skipping his inauguration in protest? It was 4 years ago, I don't remember specific names. But I just find it funny people are like "You lost Trump, move on, stop whining about it," after what happened 4 years ago. I think he should stop whining, stop making public accusations unless he has proof to back it up. He is embarrassing most of the time when he speaks. I still find it amusing now that the tables are turned so has the attitude of "accept the results and move on."

is there gonna be a live streaming while trump packing from white house?
There is word that he will not concede the election. There is going to be all sorts of legal challenges and bullshit posturing. Possibly even violence in the streets.
Ultimately, there is nothing he can do. It is going to be more that 1 state's-worth margin. He would have to get a ton of votes thrown out in several states (and there has been no claims that seem valid or egregious, nor any evidence)

Yeah, if we weren't 7 months into a global pandemic, I might agree with you, but considering the public health crisis, the government should have made better accommodations for people to vote safely and securely... unfortunately one of the two parties in this ridiculous system we have didn't want to help make that happen.

I remember the calls for faithless electors...but it was mostly liberal Hollywood. I don't recall any mayors or governors saying it. And Hillary herself took it far better than Trump's taking it. But I guess the GOP has a chance to be the bigger party right now. Let's see how that goes...
I can only speak for myself but I accepted the results. I knew it was a disaster. But it was what it was.

I remember the protests by private citizens. I don't have cable so saw none of the EC commercials (unless you're talking about robert deniro). i do recall some in congress skipping his inauguration. that isn't the same as trying to overturn the election and claiming fraud and basically inciting violence.
there was ACTUAL evidence of him being helped by putin to get elected. there is still proof that his campaign conspired with russia to get it done.
I don't see it as the same thing.

I wonder if there is a strong voice in the republican party (or maybe even in his inner circle) who are advising Trump to drop this.
Fighting the election results is incredibly unpatriotic. It is over and Trump will either walk out or be dragged out. The only difference is what happens in between. We are in a state of national emergency still. We are horrifically divided and will only get to the flashpoint if Trump keeps throwing matches on it. This does not serve anyone except himself, and it is a net-negative for the Republican Party as a whole.
Any chance of holding any sort of dignified presence in history books will be spoiled forever.

You don't think an unusually high number of democratic congress saying in advance they will not attend his inauguration is a form of protest? It was reported more than 1/3 of house dems boycotted the inauguration in protest. I consider that a protest to his election, and on the same level as saying he shouldn't be sworn in. https://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-show/dozens-congressional-dems-boycott-trump-inaugural-msna945056

The Roger Stone pardoning alone should eliminate any doubt that there was something there, but just like Trump's election fraud commission that was unable to come up with any instances of election fraud, people forget that it even happened.

well, yes, i do recall that now. but that wasn't being a sore loser. that was protesting a rapist and con man being sworn in as president. there would not have been any of that had ted cruz or marco rubio won. that was about trump, not a republican president.
