It is ok to discriminate on age when the person is 32 or 34, but not 74 or 97?
That's in the constitution. Put up an amendment to lower, I would support it.

Biden
Well, agree to disagree. Not something I have only thought about a few times. I've yet to hear an argument against it that changes how I feel. Seen way too many people go from high functioning to not in a short period of time once into 70s. This is not the job to let people work beyond their capabilities. Way too important and way too demanding.
So, should people not born in the US be able to be president? Let's say Arnold or someone coming here as a refugee as a kid etc?
That's also a constitutional issue. I might be supportive so long as there was a minimum amount of time as a citizen and there was no dual citizenship.

I would vote for Neil Young for president. He's old and has dual citizenship!

Neil Young would be bored after 3 months, leave a note with the press secretary "eat a peach" and go record another album with a sound no one could see coming.

I'm sure Neil has no such ambitions.
Probably not Arnold either.
So let's go with Bruce Willis. Born in Germany, 65 years old. Capable of destroying all enemies with his bare hands.
There you go. Bruce Willis for President, 2024.
“The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man [or woman] who lives fully is prepared to die at any time.”
I don't think being a leader of a country is a very good gig. Generally the pay is quite a bit lower than if you were a CEO or CFO of medium to large company (or publicly traded company).
The job lacks longevity. You have to run for election every handful of years, so your under constant thread of being terminated. Everyone blames you for everything, you can't make people happy, you probably won't even be able to get 50% of people to be happy.
Anything stupid you've done in your life will most likely see the light of day, then get dragged out publicly.
If your an American president there's only so much you can do without the support of Congress. Congress is in charge of the purse, and also has the power to override a veto. A president can't introduce law, congress does. If there's big things you want to do you need to get it passed through two dysfunctional arms of the US government. Making it really hard to get much done.
I don't think famous people (or most of them) would want to be president. It's like being famous, but everyone blames you for everything bad
So we're at the end now. How do you guys grade Biden and his campaign? I give him strong grades. He was good in both debates, no major gaffes, stayed focused on a positive message, didn't get into the mud. The commercials I get here in Virginia are excellent, particularly one i saw the other night with all the generals supporting him.
I feel like the campaign did its job. The money was raised, I was contacted by Biden, Warner, and Spanberger multiple times. Now it's up to the people.
I don’t think it matters. This election is about Trump or no Trump. Biden could have been replaced by a brick wall and the results would probably be the same.

Special To The Columbus Dispatch
So much stress, so much tension, so much riding on the outcome.
How
are we going to get through Election Day on Tuesday without wallowing
in anxiety? What we need is a Helpful Guide to Managing Electoral
Anxiety.
Until someone writes a helpful one,
I’ll offer my own version. Here are suggested relaxation techniques.
(And if you haven’t voted yet, please do before relaxing.)
Nature
Immerse yourself in the natural world.
Find
a meadow, lie on your back and stare up at the clouds, as you did when
you were a child. See the shapes as they drift by. Look, there’s a
sheep. How peaceful, how soothing, how emblematic of voters blindly
following the wrong candidate.
If you feel an urge to spit at the cloud, remember that you’re lying on your back. It will end badly.
Get
up and go look at a tree to take your mind off the cloud. When the
tree brings to mind wooden-headed partisans, move on to something else.
Repeat until you’ve exhausted the entire natural world and yourself.
Mindfulness
Sit comfortably, dispel all fears about the future and focus on the now.
Well, maybe not this now. I mean who wants to dwell on stress-soaked Nov. 3, 2020?
So
pick a different now. Let’s say Nov. 3, 2120, when whatever happens
today will be but a footnote in history. If we’re lucky.
If
we’re unlucky, it could be more than a footnote. It could be entire
books, plus many movies, more than a few doctoral dissertations, some
recurring historical re-enactments and at least a few solemn services of
remembrance.
You know what? Never mind the mindfulness.
Movement
Perhaps a gentle session of yoga will relax you.
No?
You need more strenuous activity to dispel the tension in your body?
Try running, then. Still too laid-back? Pole-vaulting. More, you say?
Kickboxing. Still not enough? Bull-riding.
Need
even more? Pole-vault onto the back of a bull and ride it to kickboxing
practice while doing yoga poses. It will either take your mind off the
election or kill you. Either way, you're free of electoral stress.
Breathing
Yes,
it can seem a little strange to focus on breathing at a time when there
is a deadly respiratory virus in the air and you’re inhaling through a
homemade mask made from three layers of discarded T-shirt. But try it
anyway.
Take a long, deep breath and hold it,
as you’ve been doing all day anyway while monitoring exit-poll results.
Then release it, imagining your exhaled carbon dioxide drifting into
the atmosphere where it mixes with all the other heat-trapping carbon
that threatens to ...
Ah, forget it. Just put your breathing on autopilot and go watch cable news. You know you want to.

At some point we have to stop fearing the GOP and just run a positive message and control the narrative. Take the ball right out of their court. They only have power because for whatever reason they have been given the ability to control the discourse.

It's a little early to say she's a candidate and would be a good leader for the whole country.

I honestly don't think there should be a leader of a country. How can one person lead something as big and complex as a country?
I might be persuaded to retain the three branches of government in the U.S., but I would want the president to be someone required to have good moral character, the ability to speak well, and be someone who represents the best of what we are, but not someone with a lot of power. Big decisions that affect the country or even the whole world should not be made by one individual. Even just the notion of that is ridiculous.
I would also make the executive branch a committee composed- as Lincoln's cabinet was- of people of differing outlooks who are required and willing to work together to come up with logical, doable and fair solutions to national issues. One of the jobs of this committee of mixed members would be to interview potential presidential candidates and then select that president based on who it is that most fulfills the characteristics I've pointed out above.

What I’m trying to say is she’d be a poor candidate for the democrats. Not that she’d make it through the primary in 2024, but hypothetically.

I believe the original topic was American citizens not born in the US. I’m just saying I would support an amendment to allow someone like Ilhan to run. And further just illustrating how crazy it is to continually dance to the tune set by the GOP. Let’s strike our own tune

Oh yeah that’s right...she wouldn’t even be eligible.

To an extent, it is a referendum on Trump, but I still think Obama would beat Trump and Gore would not. I’d say the campaign is a B. He did a good job laying out plans, but I honestly think he should have gotten in the mud more and brought up more of Trump’s mobbed-up past and his family’s profiteering.
