Good evening troopers! Had an explosive cry earlier, usually I can make it til the kid is sleeping, but I feel better. Hope those who can get out are!

You first saw Okanagan lake, then the glass waters of Wood lake. This one is, as the First peoples say, Kalamalka, Lake of Many Colours. Such fond memories in this water... add a basketball and guitars, makes for some great times!

    Hang in there!!!

Such an order would be unprecedented in American history, but some of Trump's top advisors have said publicly they would be open to it. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said Sunday he had raised the prospect of such a dramatic step with the administration.

“I think we should really be overly aggressive and get criticized for overreacting,” Fauci said Sunday on NBC's Meet The Press. “I think Americans should be prepared that they're going to have to hunker down significantly more than we as a country are doing.””

Great so if the government completely bungles everything worse than they already have, people won’t be able to protest or congregate in the streets. So far I have seen no proposal that assures me that everything will be ok by forcing us to shelter in place while millions go without income and the bills continue piling up.

Sheltering at home is our best defense against this right now so other than those performing essential services, the more people who stay home, the better.  I don't want us to have lines of military vehicles carting off corpses like what is happening in Italy.

This is hard for all of us.  My wife's bookstore is closed and she isn't sure she will even have a business when this is all over.  My business is shut down and I no longer (hopefully just for now but iffy) have a job (and all of the store employees are out of work).  But I'm staying home.  It's the right thing to do.  We NEED to do this.

Easy to say right now...how about if this goes on a couple months  and people have no money for food and bills and no homes?

Easy to say?  Read my post again and tell me that was easy to say.  Oh, that's right, most used book dealers are rolling dough.  Come on man...
As of now very easy to say, most haven't had to tap into their personal savings and safety net too far yet and still have a paycheck coming in. At least those not living paycheck to paycheck.

Well, if you find this easy to say, I guess I should say good for you.  Some of us are not feeling so cavalier.

There are not enough tests available and the administration has been definitely taking advantage of this to keep the reportable numbers down.  What this shows is that even with a lack of test kits our numbers are about to go through the roof. Once testing becomes available I’m sure the numbers will be crazy

Up for the govt to support this and go implement a way to survive this.
The easiest thing is to keep trying to limp and ignore the things we are seeing.
For our fucking idiot of a president to seek credit for how great a job he is doing.....
But you do realize the government gets its money from us, right? So if half the population is out of work the government won’t have a substantial way to support the other half.
I am a traditional conservative economic believer.
Yes, I understand where taxes come from.
I also understand that we spend billions of dollars on things that are not as essential bas preserving our country and our way of life, here.

We can take a step back from being the world police (America, fuck yeah!) and provide steps to save our economy

I posted the link to the solution I support
    Time for govt to lead.
Agree with the over and needless spending. I don’t think that’s enough to cover all the loss of wages, but time will tell how bad it is.

I think these next few months will help show why my #1 fear is China and our national debt. I said during the 2016 election I would vote who whoever I thought would reduce our national debt. We are seeing why that is so important now. We can’t manufacture our own medical equipment, we are in a gross shortage and we have governors asking clothing making to produce masks. On top of that we have China threatening to cut our medicine supply to kill Americans.
In 2020 I’ll vote for whoever can convince me they will reduce our spending and our reliance on China over any other subject.

I don't disagree with that at all but not having the same testing throughout the whole process really throws the curve off doesn't it as an accurate means of showing how it is spreading? I mean who knows how bad it has been in the last couple of weeks undetected and maybe we are flattening out the curve but the testing has not caught up with the true numbers yet. Also with them layering the USA with other countries trying to show how they compare is it really an indication of anything since the testing is so different across the globe?
  • In 2020 vote, I hope there is something resembling our economy.  I've been a fortunate person thus far in life.  I have no idea what things will look like in November.  Hope it is something similar to February

Yep. We are literally behind the curve on testing.
    Behind the curve on prevention.
And will find ourselves behind the curve on treatment.
Which will leave us ahead of the curve on preventable deaths.

Hi from Aus. Population 24 million. Covid numbers going up expotentially. No one seems to give a shit and continues on with the mass gatherings and infected cruise ships dispersing and and untested planes bringing in everyone and anyone from overseas walking all over sydney and everywhere else and spreading the deadly disease to the rest of us. Threatened with lockdown like naughty kids for overcrowding beaches cause people don't have any respect or care. It seems our country needs to be told what to do cause of the mass amount of disease spreaders incapable of social distancing and doing the right thing themselves. Government wont shut us down so schools, trains, buses and now just domestic air travel still allowed to continue to crowd with people.. people still happy to go on their planned school holiday trips, weddings and gatherings adamant to go ahead because well not going to ruin our special day attitude... Egotistical maniacs in this country without a care in the world.... Give it a couple of weeks they will all be crying like little sooks because of the death rate!!
I woke up with a sore throat this morning, hopefully just a cold but I'm pissed off cause Covid will kill me and I'm only 41.

It's inexcusable that some of these services are still running, and blows me away that many residents are continuing to flout common sense.

I too hope this is just a cold (or allergies?) for you.

I’ve never seen acoustic ceiling tile installed in a parking garage before.  never seen it in a spec book issued by an architect.  never seen in in architecture plans.

    it wouldn’t last a month.

They have shut borders to anyone not a resident, citizen or immediate family member. Meanwhile infected Aussies are pouring into the country from Overseas. 4 more infected ships just docked and dispersed. That's 5 infected cruise ships in 2 days. How wonderful.

One piece of good news, it seems to be far less deadly the previously stated.
I never believed that 3-4% fatality rate. I thought the best number was from South Korea because they tested so many and they had a 0.7%.
I just heard there are over 19,000 confirmed cases with 264 deaths. That’s 0.13%.
Not saying we don’t need to be carefully, just saying it might not have as high of a fatality rate as once thought.
Im also guessing as we continue to test more that number will continue to drop.

What can I say- I'm a Michael Stipe fan from practically day one.  I saw them in the early days, have listened to their music for so long a little of it runs in my veins.   I personally found what he said to be encouraging.   You maybe should just have ignored my post instead of being negative, OK?  Thanks.

They only care about money and the economy. Self entitled attitude here that's how this shitty government got in to start with.
Thank you.. I have a full blown head cold if I get a temperature i will worry. My work exposes me to travellers so won't rule anything out.

Our stupid fuck of a PM refuses to shut down schools. Why should teachers and their families have to be put at risk?
Sweden's Public Health Authority has today decided to still keep schools open,

    because

    - the effects of having them closed have shown to be at most marginal, so far.

    and

    - it would be a huge strain on society and the health care system if people are not able to go to work because of children being kept at home

    and

    - people should avoid after skis this upcoming weekend.

Sweden has 10 million people and 85% of them live in villages with 200 or fewer people.  California is a little smaller and has 4x as many people.
No offense, but there really isn't any sense in comparing Sweden to...anything.
    Isn't Thoughts_Arrive from Australia?

    Who is talking about California?

An American tour bus group in the Barossa valley (wine country) S.A Australia has tested 10 positive covid19 and are now in isolation where they are. They had travelled the eastern states before falling ill. They were here before mandatory 14 day self isolation laws came in .

Aussies are stupid. Packing the beaches, packing the bars and cafes despite warnings to keep 4m sq. apart from each other.
