    Pfizer... getting it done
Best news yet since the pandemic started.
True, if everyone wears a mask, stays smart and gets vaccinated by the end of 2021 maybe we can enjoy a celebration for the ages in 2022. The combination of Science plus common sense is the ONLY way this ends. Patience is going to be the key to how many lives we lose in 2021. Just because Pfizer and other vaccines are on the way doesn't mean COVID is going to throw in the towel and go home. Sadly that's what a large portion of our population is going to assume. An instant gratification society facing down a pandemic that's going to take another 12-18 months to contain makes me nervous.
I am trying to be optimistic and hoping we can have concerts again next summer. I know the odds of that happening may be not the best but as of right now I would prefer to be thinking positive. I do not think we should rush this but if a vaccine that works as well as these numbers suggest is out by spring and the sick/old/vulnerable are able to have it readily available I think I would be ok with things going back to normal.
Yeah that would be awesome, regardless news like this hopefully puts us on a path to normalcy and concerts in 2022. I could see concerts in 2021 but regionalized and after a majority of the population was vaccinated. Say for Ohana you have to be resident of California to attend. As long as the spread was under control in that region the show would go on. Same for the European leg, to attend you have to reside in that country. Europeans are way more likely to get vaccinated than Americans. We have a decent sized fringe group that won't take the vaccine initially. Which is why a 90% effective vaccine would be HUGE. We'll probably be close to 20% herd immunity before the vaccine even rolls out. Even if only 75% of this country takes the vaccine we'd still be in pretty good shape. Those at risk and the elderly will probably eclipse that 75% number. Why would anyone voluntarily risk dying or living in a world where you can't even hug your grandchildren?

Regarding all of the pro-biden gatherings, yes, idiocy doesn't know politics. let's be honest with ourselves: if Pearl Jam were to decide to hold an indoor concert and said "just wear masks", that place would still sell out in an instant, and i can count on one hand how many people on this forum i know right now wouldn't go, but the rest?

Just read that from AP. These people suck. The fact that they hide it is even more disgusting.

I don’t care what the “cause” is; I wouldn’t put myself in that position for family, so I sure as hell wouldn’t for Pearl Jam! If others are okay with it, that’s on them (and hopefully not transmitted).

So here’s my experience with COVID testing..

Started feeling shitty with a low grade fever last Tuesday morning. Called doctor same day. Two day wait to get a test. Got tested Thursday morning. Still waiting on test results. Its now been almost a week since the first symptom, and still no idea if I have the virus. Pretty ridiculous.

Get tested, get tested.... So you can just sit in your house with the kids you pulled out of daycare/school for at least week and go nuts.

Feeling fine the past two days...

Hell no, I wouldn't go but I would try to get tickets to help someone out. If that's even possible these days?

It's stupid. One of my employees waited 10 plus days. Felt symptomatic on a Wednesday, doctors appt. on Friday and test on the following Monday. I think he got tested at a clinic in Woodbury. Cleared the14 day quarantine before he got results. That's the longest I've heard.

It is. As bad as it sounds, if I start feeling crumby again, I’ll probably avoid getting another test. Why bother if they can’t process the tests in a reasonable manner.

i had a meeting with an account today to discuss some big proposal.

i went to my local office max to have my slideshow and proposals printed off and there was a guy at the door saying they need to close today and tomorrow, no reason given. i asked if someone had covid. he said "i am not at liberty to say, but yes, staff member tested positive and we just found out." they know me well there since i get copies made a few times per week. sucks for them. but sucked for me too as i was late to the meeting.

i should have had the copies done yesterday.

i know most of the staff there, so hopefully they will be ok.

My girlfriend, an educator, went home early from school last Thursday feeling sick.
8:30 Friday morning got the rapid test with an immediate negative result. But, when they found out she was an educator they gave her the nostril probe. She got that negative result yesterday and is back to work today.

pfizer expects to have 50 million doses available by end of 2020 (so, that's 25 million people for a two dose vaccine) and 1.3 billion through 2021. pfizer says it will be free.
