Here's hoping this goes off without major issues and the rest of the dominos continue to fall.
The B1117 variant is looking...not great, especially for kids. Not clear how well the vax does against it. We're at the 20 yards line and some states are saying "fuck it"

It's not about "chasing," it's about mitigating their spread while we vaccinate over the next couple months. Then opening up will make more sense.
And I must have missed when we locked down in the US

The Rangers have a terrible team. I doubt they'll sell out for long...
They're only doing full capacity for opening day, which for most teams is usually a sell out regardless of how bad they are. After that they are going to have "distanced seating", whatever that means so they probably know they wouldn't be selling out a ton of games in normal times.
The Rangers have a terrible team. I doubt they'll sell out for long...
At this point, I don't think fans will care. Just being able to go to the game and spend money on $9 beer and $5 for hotdogs while watching the game will be draw enough.
Dinosaur Jr just announced a fall tour; J Mascis feeling confident.
Dinosaur Jr and Pearl Jam are two extreme ranges of crowds. PJ can sell out baseball stadiums, Dinosaur Jr would have trouble filling out a 3000 seat theatre.

Very true but the discussion of bands making a go for it no matter the size this fall is newsworthy. Of course until the bigger bands are scheduling tours nothing really matters as far as Pearl Jam goes but the smaller bands and shows need to happen first to prove the full arena shows and fests can go on safely.

I'm thinking the Dinosaur Jr. tour would be more instructive of how things are going BECAUSE they play small venues. If it's safe to have 3000 people crammed into a small theater or club, surely we should be good to have an outdoor stadium show.

Don't artists have to book the venue a year in advance?
I think the Spring tour was booked in October or November of 2019. The reason why we only got one TO and NY show since everything was already booked up. A lot of people knew about the tour early in December.
I am sure there are arena holds all over the place.

One of the articles I’ve read recently indicated that this is true. Plenty of holds and plans are in place. They’re just waiting for the “ALL CLEAR” or “ALL SYSTEMS GO” signal to release that info. Better to wait that put out the dates/venues and then have to reschedule or cancel again.
It's an outside show, but they rescheduled the Black Crowes date in St Louis from a previous date to the end of July. I bought tickets, so we will see what happens.
my June 5 Rage show is still not cancelled/rescheduled.
I’ve got a ticket for August 7th at MSG. Looks like that one’s still a go for now. I’ve got a GA ticket. Should be interesting if the show goes on as planned.
Each state's opening up differently. Chicago baseball is low capacity, same in Boston. Wouldn't be surprised if each state's seeing positive signs (and probably feeling pressure) to warrant opening some things. Will be interesting to see where we're at by Memorial Day weekend... either vaccinations are effectively getting the job done or are there too many loose restrictions that cause us to take a step back again.
Still holding onto my Ohana hotel reservation, but not ready to pull the trigger on a ticket quite yet.

If you're eligible. It most likely will be available.
That has not even been close to the case in Chicago area yet. Most eligible are still finding it very difficult to find available. Hopefully that changes in a month or so but it doesn’t seem like it would with more people becoming eligible than vaccines being delivered.

Rage Against The Machine will never consider socially-distanced gigs, the band’s bassist Tim Commerford has said.
Discussing Rage Against The Machine’s planned 2020 tour dates, all of which were postponed due to coronavirus, Commerford said that “musicians got kicked to the curb” during the pandemic.
“It’s stressful for me, just because I look at Rage and go, like, ‘Fuck, we rely on an audience,'” he told TooFab. “You go to Rage shows to see the audience as much as to see the band, and we need that. We’re one of those bands that need that.”
He continued: “We’ll never be one of these sellouts that’s gonna go play a drive-in show or play a venue that holds 100,000 people and there’s only 10,000 people there. That’s bullshit. Rage will never do that. It’s not a good show unless the audience is going off too. It’s gotta be a shared experience.”
In March 2020 the band announced an initial postponement of what were due to be Rage’s first shows since 2011, and in May said that shows would not take place until 2021.
“Rage Against the Machine will commence our tour at such a time when we are confident it will be safe for our fans,” the band said on Instagram.
The band’s North American tour dates, with support from Run The Jewels, are currently still set to take place this June and run until August.

What about an hour outside of Chicago? I couldn’t find it here in Austin but was easily able to get both shots with short drives outside the metro area.
