I've liked one opener in 25 years, Band of Horses.
My Morning Jacket would like a word.

    Love opening bands.
I was introduced to two of my favourite bands, My Morning Jacket and Sleater-Kinney, by seeing them open for Pearl Jam. I'm with you: I love having an opener. (I'm also in what it'd imagine is the extreme minority in preferring slightly shorter Pearl Jam shows to marathon Pearl Jam shows, which is partly why I preferred Wrigley II to Wrigley I in 2018, but that's a whole other discussion...)

If Wrigley/Fenway etc are happening in August, then they will probably be announced at the same time as the March-April arena shows.
  • Could we see both EV and PJ both playing different nights at Ohana Festival this year?

And we would have heard rumblings by now and not just a DJ and a ticket broker starting it.

Yep. Ballpark announcements aren't usually any later than January.

Still curious how Global Citizen and Ohana are going to work out on the same weekend.

Another thing to mention regarding the ticket lottery is that if you strike out, you'll have an opportunity in the general sale and potentially another ticket drop after that.  For Fenway '18 TM dropped a ton of late tickets with much better seating than many of the 10C tickets already purchased.  Then people were grabbing the seat upgrade via TM and abandoning their "worse" 10C seating.  There will be opportunities for tickets.  Not sure why there's so much hand-wringing already.
Again I think those stadium shows were much different in terms of how many fan club tickets were available. I wouldn't count on any pre-show drops happening for NYC or any other high-demand show.
Nah, they always drop. Even for MSG, although those are more cutthroat than most. IIRC last time around people were lining up at the box office first thing in the morning in order to catch a mid afternoon ticket drop.
Last MSG show I think a total of 12 tickets were released to people on line waiting outside the venue...

Not at all.  People lined up for hours and they released 12 pairs of tix.
  • Wrigley has some openings, could do August 8th & 10th, the Cubs have a decent stretch of away games around then. I'm not crazy about more Wrigley shows, but I don't mind a 3 hour drive and it'll be a nice birthday gift to myself.

I've enjoyed most of the opening bands through the years...who didn't LOVE Mudhoney?? or Iggy Pop?? Kings of Leon.....Band of Horses was fun. ....whatever makes Pearl Jam happy....if PJ gets PUMPED by the opening band, they 're already having fun....Happy Pearl Jam = Happy show! ....however, there's one condition.... if there's an opening band, it should be at a curfew-free venue.....there's my 2 cents
PEARL JAM in 2024! Dark Matter and MORE ! THANK YOU!!
Peace Love & Pearl Jam forever!!

Never saw Lings of Leon, Iggy Pop or the Ramones...that would rule...but still i'd rather more PJ.
  • With or without an opener, you aren’t getting more pearl jam.

I've seen longer PJ sets with openers than the last Fenway shows. I don't think having an opener automatically means less PJ. Just extra music.

Zero interest in watching an opening act waste precious time before curfew at Fenway.
Pearl Jam themselves wasted precious time both nights in 2018. Came out wayyyyyyyy too late

    Exactly.
  • On January 2, 1992 I went to see the Red Hot Chili Peppers play in Salem, Oregon at the Salem Armory.  They had a couple of openers....

Anyone else find it odd that they would start the tour in Toronto, go east to Ottawa/QC, then back west to Hamilton (which is basically just outside of Toronto)?
  • And I am still a "no opener" guy.....  :)

Haven't liked 1 band PJ has brought.
Ben Harper.  Randall's Island, '96.  Introduced me to an artist that I didn't know, and I've loved ever since.
I've seen quite a few Pearl Jam shows.

Hamilton isn't available until after 3-22

why does anyone think openers take away from pj stage time?  it's all scheduled.  they're not gonna go up against curfew if they don't want to.
This show, another show, a show here and a show there.
