One kid can start things moving in the right direction. I think that's pretty cool.

As a former Administrator in a Public School District with a high percentage of special ed students I was sickened by anyone who had anything negative to say...
And does anyone ever think God gave up on us long ago?0 -

I feel sad that some men have to use these terms in order to feel strong and manly, and equally so when some women have to diminish their own gender in order to feel cool and “part of the gang” and use those words too. We don’t need more oppression in this world; rather, we need to start making people feel valued and appreciated. Again, it starts with something as easy as thinking twice about what we say.

http://www.eskapee.com/shorts/voices-stop-using-pussy/RE. the video- I like it make- makes some good points. This is a totally different subject (maybe worthy of its own thread?) but interesting to me because I saw so much change during the late 60's into 70's women's liberation movement. Women became strong then. Daughters refused to become subservient domestic laborers in a family run by the man like so many of their mothers had been. They started demanding equal pay. They went back to school. They threw away the whole Barbie doll image. And then it started all over again in our culture. Not for all, surely not as wide-spread as during the G.I. generation (although my G.I. gen mom became liberated), but it happened again- a lot with the baby doll looks, the whiny voices, trying to be a sex symbol as opposed to being a beautiful natural woman. Not all girls and women, mind you, but way more than I would have expected after women's lib. That video is right on."It's a sad and beautiful world"-Roberto Benigni0 -
