He is trying to say that because he didn't write "sexually assaulted girl" on his calendar, it's evidence he couldn't have done it. Crazy town, and this guy is a judge.
He would have come off so much better by saying, "You know what? I did a lot of things when I was in school that I'm not proud of. I was a jerk at times, and I drank too much, and I did stupid things. I can't remember assaulting Dr. Ford, but if I did, I'm deeply ashamed of myself and I'm sorry for the pain my actions caused her."
My impression, not that anyone asked, is that he is a mean drunk and that he probably still has a pretty serious drinking problem. It would be smart of him to admit this and say that he is stepping aside to address these personal issues for the sake of his family, but his ambition seems to outweigh things like familial needs.
All those who seek to destroy the liberties of a democratic nation ought to know that war is the surest and shortest means to accomplish it.

Of course he wouldn't write that in there but he would have names of other people that were around to corroborate the story.

This would have been good but it wouldn't work. After hearing him fly around the world with conservatives all the time you know which way he sways.

This ^^^ . Just look at his wife's face. It's my subjective opinion but she does not look very happy with him.

I'd still oppose his confirmation, no doubt. But a decent, responsible adult, regardless of political leanings, owns up to the stupid shit they did when they were young (and I think most of us did stupid things, although I'd like to think that most people weren't doing violent stupid things) and makes amends when appropriate.

Also, aside from the fucking crying, why would the sheer hatred, anger and shouting clearly coming out of his mouth for the disgust of one party ever lead anyone to believe that he would be impartial in a court of law, let alone one of the nine most powerful judges in the country?
A really good idea to piss off Senators who already pissed off at you. Fireworks shall ensue.
I'm not watching, I'm not up to it. But if he's stupid enough to cross Sen. Harris, he deserves what's coming.
It is difficult to watch. It's going to get harder.
It's too early in the day for drinking, and I'm utterly drained by the last week or so of news stories. I'm thinking I will go offline and read a book (on paper!) or mop floors or something. It's so hard to wrap my brain around how little has changed over the last thirty years or so; it's also hard to relive what happened so many years ago.
My thanks to everyone who is watching.

And he actually said he embraces the drinking of beer in his statement.
What a train wreck, I honestly never expected this.
