I just got home from a 4 day visit to Helll and I feel the need to take a moment and tell every group, every person, every talking head, every media personality and every politician that works hard to keep us divided as humans to...fuck the fuck off!!! Seriously...just fuck off and die already. Fuck you white nationalists. Fuck you white supremacist. Fuck you Nazi fuckers. Fuck you ANTIFA...and fuck you BLM. I didn't see a single one of those fucking groups doing a goddamn thing to help, and all they've done lately is cause the biggest fucking division I've ever witnessed in this country during my lifetime.
I just spent the last 4 days with a group of my 'redneck' buddies using our boats and jet skis and inflatables plucking every race of human being out of water so fucking nasty, you couldn't conjure it up in your worst nightmare. Not only nasty...but dangerous. Snakes, alligators, and worst of all...pulling up to houses with flooded first stories and still having live electricity running to them.
Aside from the few idiots that literally tagged themselves in 'distress' only to ask us to bring them cigarettes (no fucking joke)...the event was life changing, and probably the most beautiful thing I've ever witnessed.
I have never seen people be so loving to one another. In fact I don't think I've hear the word 'love' and the phrase 'God bless you' so much.
Most everyone we helped, from down towards Dickenson...all the way to Port Arthur...were mostly African American or Hispanic...but i can assure you...everyone was colorblind. Zero fucks were given about race at all by ANYONE!!! And it didn't matter how redneck, backwoods they happened to be. And trust me...they were. If these ANTIFA fucks ever wanted to really do battle, these are the groups they would be up against and it would not bode well for them. These are tough people...tough enough that they went in when even first responders couldn't. Tough enough that they broke down police barriers to get to people that were still trapped. Tough enough that one in our group rescued 5 members of the Coastguard. Another in a separate group pulled out 3 huge army transports with his ridiculous monster truck.
I'm just tired of the bullshit arguing on both sides, and the division it causes. I'm tired of people of all races being labeled as one thing or another and being treated like second class citizens. It took one of the worst natural disasters of my life to show me how we as human beings can truly be to one another...how we should be always. Im going to bed for a few days.0 -

The media and the president will stop talking about Houston soon. Then comes the endless sofas, drywall, mattresses, and dressers lined up on every curb in the city that wont get picked up for another four months. Flooding gets uglier after the water leaves
much respect to Shawshank for the past four days. I know a lot of people who ended up with infections and rashes just from helping. Turds floating past you become an hourly occurence. The volunteers are angels on the ground.0 -
Twelve years later, part of New Orleans are still struggling to recover fro Katrina. The same will be true for Houston and other areas struck by Harvey. My guess is the best thing that could be done to prevent future problems like these would be to allow coastal wetland to restore. A lot has been written about how healthy coastal wetland could have prevented much of the disaster resulting in both storms. Thanks for helping out shawshank, that's awesome. I checked blm's Houston facebook page, and it looked like they're organizing daily actions to help out. The narrative that blm and white supremacist groups should be lumped together has been created to divide us.
