Given that a "muckraker" is a journalist who investigates and exposes corruption in the political landscape, that's not a bad self-description. And lots of work for muckrakers in the current administration.
    Welcome to The Jungle.

Ah, the benevolence of wal mart, where full time employees earn about $28K a year, if you’re a full timer, on average. And that $1,000 bonus? You’re only eligible for the $1K if you have 20 years of service. Imagine working at wal mart for 20 years. What percentage of employees last that long? $50 a year for each year of service. Less than a dollar a week. How will they spend it all?
Is that right??  Only 20 year employees got the bonus?
Only 20+ year employees got the full bonus of $1,000. Tell me how many 20+ year employees there are at Walmart, particularly with their arcane work rules, schedule changes and other actions they took to encourage turnover and deny benefits? They were notorious for fucking over their “associates” during the 90s and 2000s.
So you're talking about the white collar workers in Bentonville... not the store people I'm sure.

Some trivia before I leave?? What famous politician was once a WalMart board member?
Haha, just looked it up.  Hillbilly Rotten Clinton helped Wal Mart become the “ rhinoceros dick” blower that it is today!
Yea, sure. Hillary made a shitty company shittier by promoting the hiring of women in management and getting them to be more environmentally friendly. Fake news. Why am I not surprised by your portrayal? Still better than being a pasty white guy fucking over everyone you can for one of the richest families in America.

Furthermore, when news outlets put quotation marks around words, it generally means they’ve had at least one or two other sources verify what was said. They won’t tell you the sources but they usually won’t go to print otherwise. That it hasn’t been vociferously denied is telling. And, and, and, why would WaPo make something like this up or rush to print something when that racist piece of shit says something outrageously embarrassing 3 times a day every day anyway? "according to people familiar with their reactions". and we wonder why people believe the term "fake news".
There were enough people present that this was bound to leak.
Anonymous and unnamed sources have always been a part of journalism.

The White House issued a statement that did not deny or confirm that he said it.
i know. it was just a funny way to put it. i've heard familiar with the situation, or familiar with the conversation, just never heard familiar with their reactions before. i could see how trump supporters would look at that and scoff.
But that isn't fake news. You're right, they'd call it that. But saying "according to so-and-so" is far from being fake news. It's actually quite transparent. They are specifically telling people that they don't know for sure, they are just reporting what was said by others. Nothing fake or misleading about that. Fake would be if they literally made it all up and claimed otherwise, and nobody has a real reason to suspect that... not that plenty of dummies don't think it anyway.
but that's not what it said. it wasn't 'according to so and so', it was 'according to people familiar with their reactions', which is such a subjective viewpoint it could be taken in any number of ways. fake news is anything that is intentionally false, sensational, or misleading. depending on what 'familiar with their reactions' means, it could definitely fall under that category.
No it couldn't. Reporting what others said isn't fake news in any way, shape or form. "According to people familiar with their reactions" is still them saying "all we know is what these people familiar with their reactions said". There is nothing wrong with that. They are being transparent by saying it that way.

It didn't say that only non exempt would get the bonus.  It was a poorly constructed sentence. Could be read either way.   But there are likely many non exempts at the corporate level regardless... call center people,  accounting clerks,  etc. My point is there probably isn't  a helluva lot of 20 year employees at the stores, to qualify for the bonus.

It seems the thrust of the detail referred to “associates” which is how they refer to their hourlies.

It’s not like they’re desperate for material.
That's for damned sure! It's difficult to even keep up with the daily Trump stupidity. Pretty much any time Trump opens his mouth (or uses his tiny hands to tweet) he provides material.

I am shocked Trump would say racist things.    Shocked.

Nobody could have seen this coming.

Some trivia before I leave?? What famous politician was once a WalMart board member?
Haha, just looked it up.  Hillbilly Rotten Clinton helped Wal Mart become the “ rhinoceros dick” blower that it is today!
Yea, sure. Hillary made a shitty company shittier by promoting the hiring of women in management and getting them to be more environmentally friendly. Fake news. Why am I not surprised by your portrayal? Still better than being a pasty white guy fucking over everyone you can for one of the richest families in America.

    Allow for digression:

What you say here has not been acknowledged very much. Trump is widely considered an orange man, but this is not the case anymore. He is definitely a 'pasty white' guy.

His jowls, teeny weeny hands and prevalent  mainstream descripts (not to mention Jose's) lead one to automatically think of him as orange... but clearly- as evidenced by his most recent pictures- he's pasty white.

It's tough to refute what has been written when his daily actions parallel the narrative.

I've said elsewhere I'm not big into chants and rah rah and what not but it would not hurt my feelings in the slightest if 100,000 people stood in front of the White House and chanted, "Fuck off!"

Every now and then the massive crowd should chant, "You've got small hands" (clap-clap-clappy-clap) in their best college home crowd manner. As well: "Your country hates you" (clap-clap-clappy-clap).

    The sky's the limit!

Based on my college hoop chant, it’d go something like this, with one student section calling to the other:

    small, small, small!
    hands, hands, hands!
    small!
    hands!
    small!
    hands!
    small!
    Hands!
fuck youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuh! (Both ends of the arena)
