I am shocked Trump would say racist things. Shocked.

Im trying to get a sense of who thinks the term sh*thole is racist? Im not so sure it is. I believe he referred to a northeastern state as a sh*thole, was that also racist?
empathy. if you need further assistance with that, watch the Joy Reid clip from yesterday.
I get it but Im trying to understand if using the term sh*thole to reference and undesirable place is being racist. Ill give you an example: is this racist or not racist "That PJ setlist was great but I wish they didnt have to play in that sh*thole Camden NJ, I dont feel safe in that sh*thole area"
Context would help some people understand.
If the words are uttered from a known, long time racist in the midst of an immigration policy meeting...then 'yes'... the comment was racist (among many other things).
If such a comment was made between two sparring buddies on a message board having fun with each other... then 'no'... the comment would not be racist.
Does this help you understand? Do you get it now? Aren't you tiring of trying to defend the indefensible? Seriously... stick to the potato salad and detach from the pasty-white one.
Im not trying to defend it, I actually said it was deroagatory and shouldnt have been said nor am do I care to discuss whether or not Trump is racist, Im simply asking if the term is used to reference an "undesirable" place is it racist. BTW - it wasnt until Trump decided to run did I ever hear anything about being racist but go ahead a pull out the 1978 rental application for his fathers apartment building, we have already been over that.

he's a fucking idiot and a terrible president, but that statement in and of itself is not inherently racist. but coming from a known racist, it can most likely be construed that way.

What we think is irrelevant in the bigger picture. Here’s my suggestion to you 3D, why don’t you go to Little Haiti in Miami or a predominately Salvadoran neighborhood on Long Island or LA and stop a random sampling of 200 people, ask them where they’re from originally or where they’re parents came from, and if they answer Haiti or El Salvador, tell them you heard it was a shithole there and ask if it’s true. When you’ve got 100 responses regarding each country, report back your findings.

i guess it depends on whether or not you were willing to allow those same people to move into the nicer neighborhood you live in. Or if instead you follow up by saying, I'd rather only have neighbors of Nordic descent.

just to clarify in case those dont click the closed thread, this is copied to from there from me
Lets talk about the reference "sh*thole" or "sh*t hole" which for the
youngsters present and in accordance with forum rules I will refer to
hereafter simply as "shole". There are varying reports about what
context Trump used the expression shole, I haven't bothered to read too
much into it but there is no doubt those words came from his mouth
during a meeting about immigration. The WH hasn't denied it, Trump
hasn't denied it and termed the language "harsh", those in the room have
confirmed that Trump used the word/phrase "shole countries". The
term shole is undoubtedly a slur a derogatory remark, but is it a racial
slur? Was Trump being racist when he referred to predominantly black
and brown countries as shole countries. I think the context in which the
reference was made is very important, obviously without context the
term shole cannot be construed as racial. Lets be honest if we can, many
many many people use the word shole. I tend to not use the word but I
know it is frequently used by many under and in reference to many many
things. So lets talk about it, is it fair to claim that the use of
the word sh*thole when referencing (if that is in fact the case here)
predominantly black or brown areas a racial slur?
I don't know if
Trump meant it as a racial slur but I tend to think not. Although I
don't condone using that term in reference to anything let alone people
or places even in private behind closed doors among confidants is
appropriate for a POTUS. As I said I dont use the term but it is still
derogatory/ugly and shouldn't be used by a president. This isn't about if or if Trump is not racist, this is about the term and its reference. Any thoughts arise?

You mean me? It’s already been broken down for you. trump’s a bigot and ran a campaign based on bigotry that was woven into his immigration plan. The comment he made yesterday was in relation to immigration. You know this, so at this point you’re just playing with us.
Trump's comments yesterday are a textbook example of Trump voters getting exactly what they voted for.
Exactly, the local morning news has a segment where viewers can call in and give their thoughts, opinions, etc. One woman called in this morning to say she loves President Trump and likes that he tells it like it is and that he is not afraid to speak his mind. SMH.
On a rock and roll fan forum, someone using the term "shit hole", regardless of the context, is not likely to cause much offense. The President of the United States of America, using the phrase "shit hole" with obvious malice to describe places beleaguered by poverty and ravaged by hurricanes is unfitting for a person in that office. In fact, at the risk of sounding old fashioned, having the POTUS use the term "shit hole" in public under any circumstance is unfitting for the person in that office, period.
The man is an absolute embarrassment and disgrace to this country. The people who support him are equally disgraceful.

You (and other Trump supporters like you) attempt to compartmentalize each Trump statement and encourage people to review them on their own, without context or history. Is calling Haiti a shithole always racist? I don't know, maybe or maybe not. But when you look at the body of Trump remarks from over the years.. then it just simply adds to the mosaic that is his ongoing racist worldview and the "browning" of America.
