Ah, the benevolence of wal mart, where full time employees earn about $28K a year, if you’re a full timer, on average. And that $1,000 bonus? You’re only eligible for the $1K if you have 20 years of service. Imagine working at wal mart for 20 years. What percentage of employees last that long? $50 a year for each year of service. Less than a dollar a week. How will they spend it all?
Some trivia before I leave?? What famous politician was once a WalMart board member?

I suspect we will see a few more brick and mortar retail store closings in the coming months/years. That's just my guess.

Haha, just looked it up.  Hillbilly Rotten Clinton helped Wal Mart become the “ rhinoceros dick” blower that it is today!

I suppose it’s better than being on the board of Enron, Halliburton, JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs, BP, Exxon/Mobil or affiliated with Team Trump Treason. But I don’t support Walmart anyways.

This isn't a new opinion. I know lots of people who think this. I mean, really what he is trying to say but is too crazy and gross and rude and ridiculous to verbalize it in any other way, is more "why are we letting in so many people from countries with cultures and social and political circumstances that aren't very compatible with America's, since this means the people coming from those places don't integrate well in America." Now, we can all assume that this is race-based if we want. I don't know if I would, but you never know. Well....... I consider that a somewhat valid question. Not a very fucking generous or open-minded or multicultural one - it doesn't exactly match up with the whole melting pot ideal - but it's at least valid and perhaps worth discussing. Thoughts?

President Trump grew frustrated with lawmakers Thursday in the Oval Office when they floated restoring protections for immigrants from Haiti, El Salvador and African countries as part of a bipartisan immigration deal, according to two people briefed on the meeting.

“Why are we having all these people from shithole countries come here?” Trump said, according to these people, referring to African countries and Haiti. He then suggested that the United States should instead bring more people from countries like Norway, whose prime minister he met yesterday.

The comments left lawmakers taken aback, according to people familiar with their reactions. Sens. Lindsey O. Graham (R-S.C.) and Richard J. Durbin (D-Ill.) proposed cutting the visa lottery program by 50 percent and then prioritizing countries already in the system, a White House official said.

A White House spokesman declined to offer an immediate comment on Trump’s remarks.

Outlining a potential bipartisan deal, the lawmakers discussed restoring protections for countries that have been removed from the temporary protected status program while adding $1.5 billion for a border wall and making changes to the visa lottery system.

The administration announced earlier this week that it was removing the protection for El Salvador.

Trump had seemed amenable to a deal earlier in the day during phone calls, aides said, but shifted his position in the meeting and did not seem interested.

Graham and Durbin thought they would be meeting with Trump alone and were surprised to find immigration hard-liners such as Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) and Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.), at the meeting. The meeting was impromptu and came after phone calls this morning, Capitol Hill aides said.

After the meeting, Marc Short, Trump’s legislative aide, said the White House was nowhere near a bipartisan deal on immigration.

“We still think we can get there,” White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said at the White House press briefing.

Because life in Norway is so, so very terrible that the great unwashed Norwegian masses are yearning to be free and live in freedom and democracy and risk their lives crossing the oceans and any land masses, via unscrupulous smugglers, to get to our shores and beg for citizenship. They'd even willingly take low paying, menial jobs just to have a shot at becoming an American. Why, if Team Trump Treason opened our borders, Norway would be a vacant, cold, dark, wasteland, overrun with reindeer.

But to answer your question, Team Trump Treason is a racist fuck.

Carrier Corp., the HVAC manufacturer that had planned to move its operations to Mexico before President Trump staged a much-heralded intervention, is gearing up for a final round of layoffs.

Less than four months after it laid off nearly 340 employees at its Indianapolis factory, Carrier said Tuesday that 215 employees will be terminated on Jan. 11.

Lol, well right. I know Team Trump is racist as fuck, I'm just not clear on whether or not that's a factor in this context. I mean, if Norway was still Norway, all other things being equal, but Norwegians were black or brown, would that make a difference in Trump's mind? I have no idea.... How does Trump feel about Japanese folks immigrating to the US? Probably fine. I think in this case he really might be thinking about the nature of the culture/economic situation/sociopolitical factors and not about race. But yeah, of course, America has always had open arms for those who are seeking a BETTER life, to escape persecution, poverty, etc. Nobody from Norway is seeking that. It's a fucking stupid, idiotic premise, if not racist. In other words... I think Trump just wants to bring in wealthy upper middle class and above people, not necessarily white people.

Wow, Trump has no idea how to be diplomatic. At least the world knows how he really feels about people from Haiti, El Salvador and African countries.
I can not understand why anyone still supports this racist idiot.

Thoughts?

Trump attacks protections for immigrants from ‘shithole’ countries in Oval Office meeting

Or it was the last Prime Minister he happened to speak with. Maybe if it was Baby Doc Duvalier or Idi Amin Dada or Robert Mugabe, he'd be calling Norway a shithole?

So now we know for sure that Herr dRumpf is an ignorant hateful RACIST.

Which will, unfortunately,  make too many Americans happy

And even more unfortunately that some people on this site,  claiming to be Pearl Jam fans, happy to hear the president  be an open hateful ignorant RACIST

But that isn't fake news. You're right, they'd call it that. But saying "according to so-and-so" is far from being fake news. It's actually quite transparent. They are specifically telling people that they don't know for sure, they are just reporting what was said by others. Nothing fake or misleading about that. Fake would be if they literally made it all up and claimed otherwise, and nobody has a real reason to suspect that... not that plenty of dummies don't think it anyway.

Is that right??  Only 20 year employees got the bonus?

So if the economy is doing so well thanks to Obama and the recession was due to bush, sounds like republican presidents do nothing but get in the way of democratic economic  progress. Ya’ll have gone cray cray.  It’s important to note that neither president is at fault or fully responsible for these numbers, but come on, the numbers are pretty telling that things are far far far from falling apart like ya’ll were claiming would happen.  Let’s take a look, shall we? :)

    GDP quarter 2 2017: +3.1%
    GDP quarter 3 2017: +3.0%, (with 2 massive hurricanes)

Obama GDP avg over 8 years: +1.6% (but this boom is a result of him, remember?, lol)

    unemployment: Obama’s avg 8 years: ~4.9%
                              Trump: ~4.1% (16 year low)
AA down to 6.8%, lowest since count began in ‘72.
employee wages up $.09 in December
                                  Q3 2017 +.7%
                                   Q4 2017 +.5%
consumer confidence was at 125.9 in October, highest since 12/2000

and @PJ_Soul  , who said I didn’t care about millions of suffering folks just because I’m excited about economic growth? I didn’t, and I don’t think see how that has anything to do with what I was saying.

Please point us to ANY legislation that has passed under Trump has that has a direct effect on ANY of this?  Yes, he is riding Obama's wave.  How do I know this? Because Trump hasn't done a fucking thing since he's been in office.  NOTHING. Not one fucking piece of legislation passed.

There is this thing called happenstance, you know.
Well to be fair the market responded to trump presidency and what they thought he would do. The corporate tax rate is a big win for companies and the market.
For your first sentence, like I said, happenstance.  That's market speculation, not an direct effect of any Trump legislation or EO.  As for the corporate tax rate, that takes effect for the 2018 tax year, correct?  So it won't really see the effects from it until next tax season.
its market speculation but it’s not like it didn’t happen. And the tax rates don’t start until 2018, that’s true. But you simply can’t ignore that the market was responding to what was to come.  That’s not happenstance at all...it didn’t just happen in a vacuum

Something good about Alabama football.  The video has more downvotes than upvotes, those bama fans are whack.  Must be weird for players to play for so many racists.  Conversely racist fans root for black players.

Josh dawsey is a self proclaimed muck raker in case you didn’t know.  Dude searches for garbage, wrote for the wsj as well as Politico.  Reading his for anything other than a laugh is questionable.  He writes anti-trump articles, rarely cites legit sources, and was put in the White House to find dirt.  No surprise that’s the name I saw on the article.  I wouldn’t call it fake news, i just would assume that’s it’s hearsay before fact.

Given that a "muckraker" is a journalist who investigates and exposes corruption in the political landscape, that's not a bad self-description. And lots of work for muckrakers in the current administration.

Only 20+ year employees got the full bonus of $1,000. Tell me how many 20+ year employees there are at Walmart, particularly with their arcane work rules, schedule changes and other actions they took to encourage turnover and deny benefits? They were notorious for fucking over their “associates” during the 90s and 2000s.

i know. it was just a funny way to put it. i've heard familiar with the situation, or familiar with the conversation, just never heard familiar with their reactions before. i could see how trump supporters would look at that and scoff.
But that isn't fake news. You're right, they'd call it that. But saying "according to so-and-so" is far from being fake news. It's actually quite transparent. They are specifically telling people that they don't know for sure, they are just reporting what was said by others. Nothing fake or misleading about that. Fake would be if they literally made it all up and claimed otherwise, and nobody has a real reason to suspect that... not that plenty of dummies don't think it anyway.
but that's not what it said. it wasn't 'according to so and so', it was 'according to people familiar with their reactions', which is such a subjective viewpoint it could be taken in any number of ways. fake news is anything that is intentionally false, sensational, or misleading. depending on what 'familiar with their reactions' means, it could definitely fall under that category.
