The Trump administration hopes that other countries, principally wealthy Gulf states, and private investors, would foot much of the bill, Kushner told Reuters.

Don Trump's dressing room assault (I'd call it rape) needs to be the focus now.
The Dems should be in the lobby of the Manhattan prosecutor in fucking charge of those types of crimes.

It can’t really be the focus of anything.  First, I suspect the statute of limitations has long been in effect.

Second, the Dems need to learn from Kavanaugh.  Particularly in older cases, the American people side overwhelmingly with the accused.

It's not about LAW, it's about what's acceptable behavior.  This guy is such a lying POS and needs to be held accountable.

At what point was the whole fiasco not a huge win for Kavanaugh?  Didn't a couple of people lose senate seats for not voting for Kavanaugh's confirmation?  Regular, middle-of-the road people think that the accuser is just as likely to be lying as telling the truth.

Trump?  This story did not even make the front page of papers like the NYT. Rape culture is still a thing...a big thing.  It's the one crime where the accuser is the villain.  There is no way any political or legal ground can be gained on this story.  It's high-risk, no-reward.

Well in the case of Kavanaugh, there wasn't a shred of evidence against him. I don't side with the accused like you idiotically suggest American people overwhelmingly do, but in this case, if I had to vote for or against his confirmation, I would have voted to confirm.

He's citing one instance and then makes the assertion that the whole country overwhelmingly sides with the accused. That's just absurd. How many Me Too examples have we seen over the last few years that point to the exact opposite?

Exactly. And frankly, even in this one instance of Kavanaugh, who people sided with was pretty much based on political affiliation. So to suggest that people overwhelmingly sided with Kavanaugh is ridiculous.

Also----the majority of the public actually believed Blasey Ford over Kavanaugh anyway
    https://www.npr.org/2018/10/03/654054108/poll-more-believe-ford-than-kavanaugh-a-cultural-shift-from-1991

-In choosing who is telling the truth, 45 percent said Ford is, up from 32 percent ahead of her Sept. 27 testimony. A third (33 percent) said Kavanaugh is the one telling the truth, up slightly from 26 percent before he testified but not as much of a rise as for Ford.

The daylong hearing appears to have been influential in helping people decide who was telling the truth. Before the hearing, 42 percent said they were unsure whom to believe. Now, just 22 percent are unsure.

Dude....a republican controlled senate and a couple deep red states with vulnerable dems up for reelection clearly does not mean "the American people side overwhelmingly with the accused." If anything, it means a vocal minority sides with the accused.

    All right, let's try this...

Does anyone really believe this latest accusation (the 15th? 20th? I lost count) is going to tip any scales?  Really?

I think it's high-risk, low-reward.  This accusation was barely a blip on the news cycle.  People don't want to hear about an encounter in the 1990s that was never reported.   This can help him (if the Dems choose to push it) more than it can hurt him.  If "grab her by the pussy" didn't matter, this won't either.

Who are we trying to influence...those either unlikely to vote or those who could vote either way.  I'd much prefer to go after him with the concentration camps than this (that said, given America's take on people who "break the law" that might backfire, too...but if so, then we know America is lost).

I wonder how many Kobe fans I'm talking to right now.

Who cares? If this is something that happened to this person and they want the world to know, more power to her.
She’s not a member of the senate or something. She’s a citizen telling her story.

Your point about the whole country siding siding with the accused is pretty absurd.

And I’ve despised Kobe ever since playing him in middle school.

I'm not questioning what she's doing...I originally responded to the assertion that the Dems should be at the Manhattan prosecutor's office.  Forgetting the statute of limitations (which I assume would kill any action from the courts), I truly don't think the Dems can get any mileage out of it.

This some sums up my feeling on rape culture, our desire to assume the best in the accused, our blame of women, etc.  It's hard to deny that any accuser is less believed than an accuser of rape.  I was hoping for a bit more in the area of statistics, but rape culture is still a thing.

We're way into the weeds here, but my point is that I don't see the dems making any ground on this...if they try to, I hope I am wrong.

    BULLSHIT
Yeah I was thinking the same thing. Tell that to Bill Cosby...

He's a royal fucking douche bag.  A prep school puke who had the world shovel fed to him.   So did Kobe.    Ucccchhhh.

Your claim to the majority opinion is challenged as far as all the raping is concerned.  Nothing personal, but come on, bro.
