In making his announcement of TRUTH Social, Trump bemoaned the fact that he had been banned from Twitter after he used the platform to incite a riot at the United States Capitol building on January 6th.
"We live in a world where the Taliban has a huge presence on Twitter, yet your favorite American president has been silenced," Trump claimed.
In the wake of Trump's ban, several right-wing alternatives, including Parler and GETTR, have tried to serve as alternative social media platforms, but so far none of them have had the same traction.

"Conservatives can imagine no greater oppression than the consequences of their own actions"
So if his site is successful and if he wins in 2024, we’re going to have a social site run by the president and it’s going to not be allowable to say negative things about the ruler-run site.
That checks.

Wagering on the election isn’t permitted at U.S. sportsbooks. At offshore books that operate illegally in the U.S., Trump is the +275 favorite over Biden (+325) and Harris (5-1) at BetOnline and the 3-1 favorite over Biden (+325) and Harris (5-1) at SportsBetting.ag.
Harris doesn't have a hope in hell of winning the presidency at this point. probably not any point. she is too widely disliked.
I always thought it was a bad idea to pick one of the least favored candidates as the running mate. I understand the historical and social implications of the pick, but you would think one of the more popular candidates would be a more galvanizing pick to go forward with.

Take the bet. Trump is out of the swing/ lightly engaged voter. Once he shows up on tv again, those voters will remember why they hate him.
I am considering ending my self imposed ban on ever signing up for SM accounts to be used for personal reasons.
Sign up for TRUTH & then post negative things about the TRUTH site until I am banned.
I think we all should. Kick in some $$ to a pool and see who can last the longest with their disparaging remarks. Last one standing wins. Who's in?
Master of your own domain style?
Or Trump's domain, technically.
Yup
Maybe a points system where you get max three posts a day, first one is worth 1, second 2 and third 3. That way someone who posts 3X a day for 3 days could beat someone who posts 1X for 5 or 6 days. Would have to define "disparaging," "tarnish" and "harm." Maybe some non-participants to monitor and rate remarks?

Most votes in the history of the country. Yeah, what the hell were they thinking? lol

That was due largely to the unpopularity of the other guy. If you want to live in a fantasy land where we see that kind of turnout without POOTWH as the other option that is you prerogative. I can't imagine a universe in which two otherwise middle of the road candidates see that kind of turnout without going against a big bad like trump. No one can tell me with a straight face that the BIDEN/HARRIS ticket was more popular than OBAMA/BIDEN. There isn't really the same kind of energy propelling Kamala and Joe.

I don't think the VP choice has that much of an effect on who you vote for as Prez (Sarah Palin the exception), but as Prez, I think Trump trounces her.

He's the one who brought it up. Choosing her as his running mate wasn't really about 2024. It was about 2020. I remember people saying she would hurt his chances last year but they got 81 million votes. lol. I think it's safe to say it was a good pick.
Also worth noting her approval numbers are actually higher than Biden's right now too.

wasn't it, at least partly, about 2024? succession planning, etc?
do you believe that the 81 million votes had anything to do with her?
I'm sure some did. Most didn't. My point was people thought her selection would hurt Biden and that clearly was not the case.
Succession planning? They certainly did her no favors with making her head up the immigration issue. Seems like they set her up to fail. So I don't know about that.
2024 is a long way off. For four years a lot of people around here resigned themselves into thinking Trump was going to win re election. I'm pretty sure the Democrats would be happy if Trump were the nominee again in a few years. I think the bigger concern would be someone like Desantis
and how much stock should we put in the poll numbers of a VP, whose activities largely go unnoticed/unknown by the vast majority of the country (I would think).

Obama was a generational talent, like Kennedy. We have to be careful we don't use that as our bar.

well it would be smart to have someone in a high office, with biden reaching the age he will be come reelection time. I just assumed they were hoping that Harris would be that person if Biden were to decide not to run or couldn't run.
like static said, I don't think Harris hurt/helped Biden in any way. the turnout was to get rid of Trump. I think he could have had nearly anyone competent, well known, and of a median age and still had that turnout.
of course, this is all hindsight. I didn't know if trump would win or if harris would help/hurt his chances at the time. I don't have my finger on the pulse of politics like many here do. Just my thoughts looking back.
