    I've been reading quite a lot of articles and opinion pieces lately that are saying the dems need to grow some balls and start standing up for what's right, instead of the "let's be civil" stuff. I agree with "let's be civil", I think even yesterday I said something similar on here, but it's clearly not working. The low road is the one that keeps winning. 

    how do you combat that without fighting the same way? it failed in 2016, and it continues to fail in 2018. 

    Everything they've done has been reactionary. and when all you do is react,  your opponent remains ahead. 

    do I agree with Maxine waters? No. even though she has now said she was not encouraging violence, the message remains. You put something like that out there, and people will respond in ways you didn't anticipate. 

    But maybe she's onto something.

I'm not convince there is any good way for the Dems to confront this kind of craziness effectively or even close to effectively. It's horrible having no solution to something, but I'm starting to think there really is no solution, other than the American public fucking pulling its shit together. I'm not terribly confident that they can do that, which is why I think this may be clearly marked as the beginning of America's decline in the history books. But I do hope they can do it. I hope America somehow reaches a new age of reason or enlightenment or something... I just don't know how. Given the circumstances, the Dems aren't going to be able to pull it off no matter how hard they try.
