‘This is your fault’: GOP senators clash over shutdown inside private luncheon By Sean Sullivan and Paul Kane January 24
Republican senators clashed with one another and confronted Vice President Pence inside a private luncheon on Thursday, as anger hit a boiling point over the longest government shutdown in history.
“This is your fault,” Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) told Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) at one point, according to two Republicans who attended the lunch and witnessed the exchange.
“Are you suggesting I’m enjoying this?” McConnell snapped back, according to the people who attended the lunch.
Johnson spokesman Ben Voelkel confirmed the confrontation. He said Johnson was expressing frustration with the day’s proceedings — votes on dueling plans to reopen the government, both of which failed to advance.
The people who attended the lunch spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe a closed-door session. Aides to McConnell, citing regular policy on GOP lunches, declined to comment on the gathering.
The argument was one of several heated moments in a lunch that came just before the Senate voted on the opposing plans to end the shutdown offered by President Trump and Democrats.

Go down in history as being complicit in knowingly allowing a foreign power to destabilize the United States. Because “winning” comes first. Sold his soul for those accomplishments, Mickey.

Oh, he'll run. No matter how many of my fellow Kentuckians say they can't stand him, they vote for him every time. He knows that and will continue to be reelected as long as he chooses. He'll retire when he finds a suitable replacement for his seat. The McConnell Center at the University of Louisville is a grooming station for his future politicians. And don't let him fool you, he delights in being confronted out in public. He has been confronted around town for years and loves it when it happens.
Are we getting something out of this all-encompassing trip?
Seems my preconceptions are what should have been burned...
Is anyone giving the Dems a free pass on this Gov't shut down?
I can't get past that it takes two sides and both really just don't give a shit about the people. I don't see it any other way.
No compromising.
One wants a wall and one does not. There is no giving an inch for either side you either give in completely and let the other win or you stand your ground and hope the other side folds. There is no middle ground to meet here.

$5 billion is a drop in the bucket. Both sides suck.
No, the repubs walked away from the dreamers under Obama and Team Trump Treason walked away when President Coulter and VP Rushbo freaked out. Team Trump Treason said he’d own the shut down and the Dems rightly oppose the wall as do a majority of Americans. The repubs and Team Trump Treason own this as do the idiots who elected him. No, both sides are not the same.

Really?
The Dems refuse to budge with a gun pointed at their head. The stupid wall is a bad idea. Bad ideas cannot be allowed to germinate. This shutdown is completely on the repubs (I'd like to buy an 'e'). They can own it- let's not spin the narrative at all.
I'd consider this both-sidesing this one if a) the GOP did not specifically wait until the Dems had control of the House to get going and most Americans wanted a wall.
The timing of this tells me that the GOP wanted to put a gun to the Dems head because they didn't have the balls to vote for it when they were the only party in power. I almost want to see the House Dems go for it just to see whether the Party of Fiscal Responsibility backs out.

It'd be nice if the dems compromised a bit. Some of these same dems have voted for the wall in the past. That's the thing that pisses me off. Politics suck.
