Get it while you can. You know the $54 Billion increase in defense spending, coupled with the $1 Trillion infrastructure spending, combined with the corporate tax cuts and tariffs on imports? This economy is going to go BOOM!

Great headline... "Trump Tries On Normal".

I for one would welcome normal at this point.

    http://www.politico.com/story/2017/02/donald-trump-congress-speech-235547?lo=ap_a1

Resist normalization of the OF. He's still the same sexual predator with the hot mic that campaigned on "us against them", and friend of the working man and "maybe we take the oil next time", and crooked hillary, lyin ted, and ramping idiots up.. Thats' not normal.
    Remember his failings and shortcomings.
Trump University. Trump Casinos. Trump steaks. The effing USFL.

Normal would be welcome, but not normalization. Fight that.

    The Wire?
I forced my way through the first season this past year and it didn't hook me. Can't see how some say this is better then the Sopranos.
It is tough to follow at first, takes awhile to get on to the lingo, but it couldn't recommend it enough.

Like mrussel1 said, easily in my top 3 for HBO, and that is a high bar.

    Wait? What?
Couldn't get hooked by The Wire? :dizzy:
    Never heard that before
My top 3 for HBO in order...
    1. The Wire
    2. The Sopranos
    3. Treme

false equivalency. if Trump just cheated on his wives, we wouldn't be having this conversation. whatever bill did was (allegedly) consensual. if Bill was on tape saying he sexually assaulted women, that comparison would make sense.

I really couldn't care less about that awful woman kneeling on a couch (TBH, it is probably the most likeable, human thing she has ever done in front of a camera, lol). However, this meme is totally worth all the misplaced outrage.

I made the mistake of following Rosie O'Donnell when I thought she was going to play Bannon on SNL. She's a nutcase. She is worse than Trump in the opposite direction. All she keeps doing is tweeting TREASON! TRAITOR! RUSSIA! in call caps all the time. And she went similarly crazy over this Couchgate shit. Reminds me, time to unfollow.

One average speech and all of a sudden a month of criticism just melts away. It demonstrates how easy Trump can flip the switch on the day's narrative. The #resistance can't hold. They are overmatched.

Makes you proud doesn't it professor? Your "brilliance" on display?

The man has no scruples but you're proud of the fact he's a white nationalist, fascist, aren't you? You heard those dog whistles, didn't you?

Follow the money like Issa, Bush and Ryan, impeach Trump. One speech don't make the facts go away.
You're right too. A night full of dog whistles. That was complete white nationalism and facism on display. How do I keep getting it so wrong?
    I guess you missed this:

Recent threats targeting Jewish community centers and vandalism of Jewish cemeteries as well as last week's shooting in Kansas City remind us that while we may be a nation divided on policies, we are a country that stands united in condemning hate and evil in all of its very ugly forms. Said after he said this Tuesday morning: President Trump didn’t denounce the threats until February 22. Tuesday morning, however, Trump implied that the attacks may not have been what they appeared. He told attorneys general from states across the country that sometimes such attacks were actually “the reverse” and events that were really perpetrated to “make others look bad.” In advancing the idea that the attacks on the Jewish community were actually “false flags,” the president seemed to be presenting an idea popular among the far-right fringe. I guess you're part of the far right fringe?

will not allow the mistakes of recent decades past to define the course of our future. For too long, we have watched our middle class shrink as we have exported jobs and wealth to foreign countries. We financed and built one global project after another but ignored the face of our children. The inner cities of Chicago, Baltimore, Detroit, and so many other places throughout our land. Where are the references to the predominantly "white" places that are in economic ruin? You know, places in Tennessee, West Virginia, Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Pennsylvania? All of those deep red counties, the suburbs? Are you telling us that Trump only cares about the dems that voted for Hillary?

In 2016, the earth shifted. The rebellion started as a quiet protest, spoken by families of all colors and creeds — families who just wanted a fair shot for their children and a fair hearing for their concerns.

But then the quiet voices became a loud chorus, as thousands of citizens now spoke out together from cities small and large all across our country.

Finally, the chorus became an earthquake, and the people turned out, by the tens of millions, and they were all united by one very simple but crucial demand: that America must put its own citizens first.
Funny, but I don't remember seeing too many black or Hispanic faces at his rallies and in fact, I remember some blacks being sucker punched and lead out of the auditorium. Nice revisionist history.

We have placed a hiring freeze on nonmilitary and nonessential federal workers. Jobs traditionally filled by minorities and women. Shhhhhhhh, do you hear the dog whistle BS?

We have cleared the way for the construction of the Keystone and Dakota pipelines, thereby creating tens of thousands of jobs. Screw those Native Americans. We don't build pipelines through white people's property.

At the same time, my administration has answered the pleas of immigration enforcement and border security by finally enforcing our immigration laws, We're going to focus our law enforcement efforts on the immigrant community because we know they commit the most crime. And we know the black guy in office didn't enforce any immigration laws. Its our turn now.

We want all Americans to succeed, but that cannot happen in an environment of lawless chaos. We must restore integrity and the rule of law and our borders. For that reason, we will soon begin the construction of a great, great wall along our southern border. We all know who the lawless are, those that come over the border, the dark skinned folks.

And we must support the victims of crime. I have ordered the Department of Homeland Security to create an office to serve American victims. The office is called VOICE, Victims of Immigration Crime Engagement. Again, implying that immigrants or people of color are the only ones who commit crimes against Americans. Do you hear it BS?

America is friends today with former enemies. Some of our closest allies, decades ago, fought on the opposite side of these terrible, terrible wars. Is Trump referring to Putin here? Follow the money indeed.

On our 100th anniversary, in 1876, citizens across our nation came to Philadelphia to celebrate America's centennial. At that celebration, the country's builders and artists and inventors showed off their wonderful creations. Alexander Graham Bell displayed his telephone for the first time. Remington unveiled the first typewriter. An early attempt was made at electric light. Thomas Edison showed the telegraph and an electric pen. Imagine the wonders our country could know in America's 250th year. Three white guys referenced. Couldn't come up with a minority that contributed to the US' greatness, I guess?

It was a speech directed at white America delivered by a white guy of privilege, who has never struggled in his life. He spoke to white America and if you listened closely, you could hear the dog whistles. I did. And I'm not the only one.

"It's kind of like how he talks about Chicago but does nothing to help. I've invited him to come to Chicago, to put some action behind his rhetoric, and help find solutions to create job opportunity and reduce gun violence in our community. My invitations have been met with pure silence."

Hahaha, exactly. I'm pretty sure a lot of people assumed that all the black people in the room somehow inspired her to demonstrate a lack of respect or something??? Which seems ridiculous. My impression is that she was just acting naturally. Yeah, maybe a little too casual for the situation, but so what? She obviously just really wanted a good photo (but seriously, aren't there photographers for that in the WH?? Is there really any reason at all for her or anyone else to be taking photos with their phones at formal WH events?). Anyway, it's a million times better than everything else she's done since she joined the Trump team. The reaction to the kneeling on social media simply shows us how much everyone hates her.... and that is totally justifiable. That's the thing about being a politician who makes everyone DESPISE you. You can't sneeze during a speech without everyone jumping all over you for the faux pas. Remember when Hillary coughed during a speech? All of a sudden all of her opponents were accusing her of being on death's door and unfit to serve and a liar about her health, lol.

Not to mention the people who seem to be outraged were pretty ok with Bill Clinton staffers working from under his desk.
false equivalency. if Trump just cheated on his wives, we wouldn't be having this conversation. whatever bill did was (allegedly) consensual. if Bill was on tape saying he sexually assaulted women, that comparison would make sense.

    2. The Sopranos
    3. Treme
I would have Deadwood in my top 3, and Westworld is pretty awesome so far.

I really enjoyed Generation Kill by David Simon too.
