How many pundits counted this creep out and now he's the GOP nominee and could end up being the sitting POTUS , this country is going down the drain !!

The country that is more conservatice every year is going down the drain?
    Fixed and yes.
How so? I thought Obama was a good president and would go down as one of the greats according to people here? What below is moving in the conservative direction? The answer is none.

    - gay rights
    - universal health care
    - minimum wage laws
    - open borders
    - marijauna legalization
    - suppression of religious freedoms
    - government spending
    - diminishing US power
    - teaching at college campuses
    - suppression of alternative viewpoints
    - free college tuition

Do you not see a significant portion of the country is ready to vote in a socialist? And you think the country is moving more conservative?

Btw...I wonder who the tax dodgers Google, Facebook and Apple CEOs are voting for? Conservatives don't have a monopoly on wealth and corporate greed.
    So gays deserve no rights?

When did religions start paying taxes? There really is no such thing as suppression of religious freedoms.

You're against legalized use of Marijuana? Do you smoke or drink? Remember that nicotine and alcohol are drugs too.

When did teaching stop at college campuses?

I believe suppression of alternative viewpoints is a staple of conservatism. That's why most conservatives are against the listed items.
You missed the point. What of those topics above are moving in a conservative direction? The post I responded to claimed the country was moving in a conservative direction and I responded showing that liberals have the momentum in just about every aspect of this country. I wasn't debating the merit of each item. Once the oldest couple generations die off and the government continues to allow open borders to beef up the liberal voting block it will be game...set....match for the liberals.

It is ludicrous to think that the country is moving in a conservative direction.

Teaching at college campuses is clearing liberal. Comedians don't even want to play college campuses because they might infringe on someone's "safe space" of not being challenged with different viewpoints.
You could have just posted "I hate the constitution and like government when it sides with my Y'all Qaeda philosophy." Shorter but same message as that TlDR crap.
Right...libs are winning the battle on everything right now so you can't say the country is getting worse at the same time if you are a liberal.

    Trump is the Republican nominee
    Trump is actually gaining momentum
Hillary has a lot of enemies
    This could get real interesting.

Though I think in the 1st couple of debates, Hillary will DOMINATE. She is a professional politician, and she is a damn good public speaker. But then again, over the last few months it didn't make a damn bit of difference how Trump performed in the Republican debates.

    This could get real interesting.

I think Trump could use the Pee Wee Herman "I'm not touching youuu, I'm not touching youuu" tactic on Hillary in a debate and get her to crack like a nut.

Fitting his dumb fans believing they win arguments with the "I know you are but what am I?" strawman.

Dubya his dad and Jeb all said they aren't voting for Trump.

This has to be a wrap for the Republican party. I think the new right (real Libertarians) will rise in 2020.

And yet we keep hearing (here and elsewhere) so many statements of fear that he might get elected. Well, I might learn how to play guitar better than Mike McCready someday but betting on either one would not be a smart gamble!

Most Bernie followers will end up voting for Hillary. Only about 70% of the non trump supporters will vote for trump.

Hillary may win by more than bush senior beat dukakis. So for me, the only interesting part is whether or not Clinton wins by more than 15 points.

Probably so. Of course as you probably know, I won't be one of those voting for Clinton. In fact, I'm still hoping to be voting for Bernie, but certainly only Hillary!

Maybe a good time to focus on you local and state issues and candidates. We all get so caught up thinking about the presidential elections that the other stuff gets overlooked.

What about when Hilary is the nominee? It is unlikely that Bernie makes an independent run.

I could put this in the Bernie thread but it fits better here. Since this is the Trump thread I'll share my 'Trump' experience from MSG2. I was in 10c seats in the lower level. There was a part in the show during one of Ed's speeches when he said that the only good option this election was Bernie Sanders. I applauded and continued listening when all of a sudden I heard:

    'WHAT THE FUCK!!!????'

I looked over and two seats next to me this brickhouse of a dude (he was a tank) was turning red in the face with rage and started screaming again at the top of his lungs, 'WHAT THE FUCK!!!!????'

The he launches into 'SHUT THE FUCK UP AND SING.....I DON"T WANT TO HEAR YOUR BULLSHIT. JUST SHUT THE FUCK UP AND SING!!!!' Over and over again. He threw in a few 'ASSHOLES' and some other crap. It wasn't as if he was being funny or a little agitated and making a joke out of it. This guy was in an absolute rage, red in the face and a total idiot. I completely get that people can be politically opposed to a band and still love their music. We saw that all the time. So take the very short political speech on the chin, laugh it off, maybe shake your head. But to be filled with such rage that you are telling the lead singer to 'SHUT THE FUCK UP AND JUST SING!' was really strange.

I'll be doing a write-in vote this year. I hope others who are sitting this one out will do the same so the stats will show lost Republican votes instead of nothing at all.

If, my friend, if Hillary is the nominee.

No. I cannot in all good conscience vote for Hillary under any circumstances. People say, "If you write someone else in or vote Green Party, Trump will win and we will all die and go to hell!!"

No, that's not gonna happen.

Totally bizarre. How, if at all, did Ed react?

Exactly! There is so much to vote for besides just president. We give that ONE person too much focus and power. Government is so much more than voting for the Grand Poobah.

Brian, with all due respect, Bernie has 0 chance at this point.

Now im one that will be voting 3rd party, so I don't think it's a wasted vote. But those of us that do vote third party will not cost Hilary the election. That's how badly trump is going to lose.

I'm not sure Bernie has 0 chance but you're so right about Trump. He has next to zero chance of winning. Still hanging in there for Bernie through the convention.
