Too rich for my blood (and wallet). I opted for a ticket to At The Drive-In for $36. I just need a dose of good, loud music...
F&*$!!!!!!!!! I had no idea ATDI was back! I just checked, I guess HOB Boston sold out today - I'm bummed I missed this announcement, but I'll track down a single at some point - HOB is only 15 minutes from my house, I'll be there.
Sorry to possibly derail the Post Pop thread.
I watched the Gardenia performance - much agreed, major Bowie vibe. I didn't LOVE the song, but it was cool. I love the guitar work (as usual for a JH tune) Josh Hommes can't do much wrong musically in my eyes. I think he writes some of the most unique music out there today. I got into the fanclub presale & had a single ticket in queue, but at $98 before fees, I couldn't justify it. At least not for an album I hadn't heard yet.
I think I'll hold out for the next QOTSA album / tour. Or Them Crooked Vultures....... A guy can always dream, right? (now THAT was an amazing show!!!)

Gotta splurge every now and then! We live in saving mode, there is never enough money I thought: This is a one time opportunity. Iggy is 68... I have never seen him. I love the Queens, and three of their members are in there. I dig the two songs I have heard so far, and I always wanted to be in that theater. You only live once, and life can be over in an instant, as we have recently experienced in our friend cycles... I work hard for exactly these things. But I also completely understand that people are hesitant. I hope you get some other shows this year, Matt!
Please, Pearl Jam, consider a Benaroya Hall vinyl reissue!

I chickened out, but I'm hoping something will maybe come up later.
Thats a great way of looking at it. I'm sure you'll have a blast.

Damn right, & props to you. I splurged on a front row Faith No More ticket last May (never had front row for anything, & they are hands down my favorite act - don't regret it for a second)
Hope PPD kicks ass! ( if it does I'll regret not going to the Orpheum, but hey.... I'll live)
I'm really looking forward to this show. I've never been to the venue before and just saw the pix of it https://www.unitedpalace.org/about-the-palace/multimedia so it's got the recipe for magic. Only downside is I'm hating Citibank even more right now because those lodge seats I couldn't buy cuz my Citibank card was expired are on the TM resale for $200 each and the view would've been amazing.
Oh and also, the price of merch on their website is INCREDIBLY reasonable. I think I'll pick up a t-shirt & Vinyl bundle for $35. http://postpopdepression.shopfirebrand.com/
iggy has been mentioning post pop depression may be his last album. i did hear from a fellow iggy fan prior to any news being dropped about this release that he had his "final album in the can with queens of the stone age". now that this has all come to light i can understand how a source may confuse two members of queens of the stone age in the backing band as the entire queens of the stone age lineup plus iggy. i mean hey, we know what flack we hear with eddie vedder's name mentioned in something and then everybody thinks pearl jam as a whole is involved when it it's just a solo effort of some kind.
anyways, with the above rumored information i heard at the time and then seeing the news drop about this album, i felt i had to bite the bullet and purchase tickets for this tour. it may be the last time i ever get to see him perform - and i never did see him live punching out solo efforts. i saw him four times in 2007 with the stooges. i had a blast at those shows. i had to make sure to get tickets for boston and new york city. oddly enough the two venues for these gigs were performed at during the 2007 stooges tour in support of the weirdness. great places overall in my mind and it'll be awesome to revisit them.
have fun everybody!
i have witnessed some performances. i have soaked up a lot of memories.
Right on! My Mom told me she read an interview that said he has bad osteoporosis. He is in therapy in Germany... I hope he does not overdo himself and I cannot wait for the show. I am so glad we got tickets, I have never seen him live and this pairing sweetens the deal for me.
Please, Pearl Jam, consider a Benaroya Hall vinyl reissue!
Iggy's an animal! I saw him with The Stooges (Mike Watt on bass!) at a small venue in NYC and it was one of the most fun shows I've ever been to. At the end he invited everyone on stage to jump around Last album or not, I feel like this is one of those must-see shows and anyone who's a music lover has to go.
Incredible first show to kick off the tour. A lot longer and much better than I expected. Iggy's energy was amazing and they played 22 songs, with the show clocking in at just under two hours. Thought that they'd mainly focus on the new songs and then only a few older songs and while they ended up playing 8 out of 9 off the new album, I was really surprised to see them play 14 of Iggy's old songs too. Such a great night and super thankful I was able to snag one of only two pairs of tickets given away (outside of band guest list), from an under-the-radar radio call-in.
If you're lucky enough to be going to one of the shows on this tour, you're definitely in for a treat!
Just listened to the album on NPR First Listen. I'm so happy I like it! Not that there was any doubt that I would, but I tend to have overblown expectations. After the first listen, my favourite is Sunday followed by Chocolate Drops. Second listen commencing now.

Decided to splurge for that show since it was almost 20 years to the day since they last played Boston (& the first time I had seen them)
That venue is usually great for shows too, I'm sure PPD will kick ass there in April.
Have fun!

Emek's "tip-of-the-cap" to Roy Lichtenstein.
Very well done, indeed.
