He was also born wealthy. It's easy to lose a small fortune when you start with a big one. He's also one of the worst users of corporate welfare--tax breaks to build his hotels and casinos.

Can't blame trump for actually using the tax laws that are in place.
Using or abusing? Do I blame him? No. BUT do place Trump in with failed business people. Good businesses don't file.

Hey he's good at working the system. Now how much of his wealth was created or saved by creditors loosing on debts or worse how much was funded by government?

If Trump ran on his business acumen well he'd get more respect but when he realizes he can't garner enough votes and goes fear factor on insecure, well than he's shit. Add some bankruptcies and double shit. In my book.

BUT to your actual question? Money is not a success factor for me. Spending time with humans I love, tinkering on oily car parts and breathing in nature is success to me. Chasing money/position is exhausting and never fulfilling.

That says zero about his character. Well, actually no, it says a lot. It means he is driven by money, self absorbed and out of touch with any kind of reality on how average people live their lives.

actually his net worth is overstated....a lot based on overstated real estate values, etc.

If he had to liquidate everything he would still be a billionaire but probably only $2 billion or so.

Based on what he inherited he has actually done a real shitty job managing his wealth. He would have been better off parking his Dad's $$ in a money market and playing xbox.

I don't see a person's net worth as necessarily saying one thing or another about their character (the right person with a lot of money can do a lot of good) and therefor says little about their ability to be an effective leader. I wish we could remove the money factor from politics all together.

So can we talk about Trump in terms of his character? Do you think he is a man who cares for the well being of all the people? Do you think he cares about the well being of people who are less fortunate or who are victims of cruelty, abuse or atrocities? Do you think he cares about the equality of women? And of equal importance, do you think he cares about the lives and well being of other species with whom we share this planet?

These questions are rhetorical right? The answer to them is almost assuredly (more accurate to say resoundingly) 'no'.

Funny you should say that because when I previewed my post (a highly recommended practice) these questions sounded rhetorical to me too. But to be honest, my original intent was for them to be straight up questions to those who support Trump. Of course waiting for straight up answers might take us into the next year.

No. Not all politicians are billionaire developers and businessmen. Most politicians...well...are politicians. Trump is not. We are examining his character in this thread.

I don't know much about mr. Trump but I think that there's something about his personality that's not suitable for a president..I read somewhere that Putin likes Trump, maybe they're pals.

He has definitely made comments that suggest he does care about less fortunate people.

Take those comments along with his anti everything-not-white-christian comments and he's still un-electable.

It was predatory lending. :). Thought people on here would be happy the big banks lost

Do the big banks really lose or is it the average middle to lower income investor trying to get by?

Probably everyone gets a piece of it. All that money borrowed went to pay for construction and operations so it probably got to the middle and lower class to some extent through wages.

no I'm saying that Al-Shebaab is trying to radicalize Mulims in the USA by using Donald Trump in their ads. What part of that was confusing?
